4 Precautions Before using this unit, pease read these operating instructions carefuy. Take specia care to foow the warning indicated on the unit itsef as we as the safety suggestions isted beow. Instaations Environment ) Water and Moisture: Do not use this unit near water - for exampe, near a bath tub, washbow, swimming poo, or the ike. Damp basements shoud aso be avoided. 2) Heat: The unit shoud be situated away from heat sources such as radiators and the ike. It aso shoud not be paced in temperatures ess than 4 F (5 C) or greater than 04 F (40 C). Pacement ) Ventiation: The unit shoud be situated so that its ocation or position does not interfere with its proper ventiation. If there is any troube, disconnect the unit from the teephone ine and connect a known working phone. If the known working phone operates propery, have your Panasonic phone repaired by one of the specified Panasonic Factory Service Centers. If the known working teephone does not operate propery, consut with your teephone company. 5 Important Information In the event termina equipment causes harm to the teephone network, the teephone company shoud notify the customer, if possibe, that service may be stopped. However, where prior notice is impractica, the company may temporariy cease service providing that they: (a) Prompty notify the customer. (b) Give the customer an opportunity to correct the probem with their equipment. This teephone provides magnetic couping to hearing aids. This equipment has been tested and found to compy with the imits for a Cass B computing device in accordance with the specifications set forth insubpart J or Part 5 of the FCC Rues. If this equipment does cause interference to radio or teevision reception which can be determined by turning the equipment on and off, use the equipment in another ocation and/or utiize an eectrica outet different from that used by the receiver. (c) Inform the customer of the right to bring a compaint to the Federa Communication Commission pursuant to procedures set out in F.C.C. Rues and Reguations Subpart E of Part 68. 12 Making Cas (Manua Operation) 2 Lift the handset. Dia the teephone number. 3 Speak to the other party. 4 Hang up when you are finished. Receiving Lift the handset. Speak to the other party. 3 Hang up when you are finished. 7

13 Automatic Diaing n There are 20 memory stations, each station is capabe of storing 6 digits. W There are 8 Direct Ca buttons, each capabe of storing 6 digits. Each Diaing button serves as a memory station. 2 Lift the handset. Press PROGRAM button. 0 Store indicator fashes, 3 To store a phone number. n Home Use Press Station No. Phone numbers can be stored into memory stations m /7-] to vj /-S-j, 4 5 Press the teephone number. Press AUTO/STORE button. 0 Phone numbers can be stored into memory stations m [i to m m foowing the same procedure. Press AUTO/STORE button. You may use the Direct Ca button instead of pressing the station number. After storing a the numbers, Press PROGRAM. 15 Press PROGRAM if you notice an error. Repeat a the steps of Storing Phone Numbers. Exampe: To erase the number in memory station m m : Lift the handset. 2 Press PROGRAM button. The Store Indicator fashes. 3 Press Station No. q q. Or the direct ca button where the teephone number that you want to erase is stored. 4 5 Press AUTO/STORE button. Press PROGRAM button. Be sure the handset is off the crade. Enter the same number into the same memory station. 2 After AUTO/STORE button is pressed; When the Store Indicator binks once, the new stored number is different from the od one. When the Store Indicator binks twice, the new stored number is the same as the od one. 0

16 Other Operations Press REDIAL button when the ine is busy. Pressing the REDIAL button enabes you to redia once. The PAUSE button function is needed behind the PBX for outside ine access or a computer accessed dia tone. When you press the PAUSE button, you can dia the phone number without waiting for the ine access. n One pause is required when waiting for an outside dia tone. Exampe (PBX): Line Access No. Phone No. Some PBXs require this PAUSE during an automatic redia. If you want to change from puse mode into tone mode during diaing, the TONE button can be used instead of changing the Diaing Mode seector.

To Reease Hod n When the handset is being ifted Press HOLD button again. Speak to the caing party. n When the handset is on the crade Lift the handset. 2 Speak to the caing party. Parae Connection To reease a hod using another teephone connected on the same ine: Lift the handset of the other teephone. 2

18 Specia Phone Company Services The Fash button can be used for CALL WAITING. For more detais about obtaining CALL WAITING service, contact your teephone company. The first conversation is paced on hod and the second ca can be Press FLASH button ighty again. You wi be abe to speak to the first caer again and the second ca is paced hod. If the caing party on hod hangs up, the ine is terminated. n You may access some features of your PBX using the Fash button instead of the hookswitch. Press the Fash button ighty in the diaing operation. The Fash can be stored into memory in the same way as Storing Phone Numbers on page 8. The memory station can be programmed to automaticay access features of your host PBX. Press the Fash button ighty at the position where the hookswitch operation is required in a diaing operation when programming into a memory station. 3

20 Wa Mounting This unit can be mounted on a wa phone pate. If you do not have a moduar wa pate instaed, we recommend that you consut your teephone company or an instaer to have one instaed I 5 2 Turn around the handset hook. 6 Mount the unit on the wa phone pate. 3 Remove the attaching stand. Pace the handset Insert the cord as shown. To temporariy pace the handset down during a conversation, hook as shown. Repace the stand. 5
