2 Important inormation Important inormation Q For saety reasons, the teephone shoud ony be suppied with power: using the origina power suppy unit. Part number: L30250-F600-C14x (x: 1=EU, 2=US, 3=UK) or in a LAN with PoE (Power over Ethernet), which compies with the IEEE 802.3a standard. Never open the teephone or a key modue. Shoud you encounter any probems, contact the responsibe service personne. Use ony origina Siemens accessories. The use o other accessories may be hazardous and wi render the warranty, extended manuacturer s iabiity and the CE marking invaid. Trademarks The device conorms to the EU directive 1999/5/EC as attested by the CE marking. A eectrica and eectronic products shoud be disposed o separatey rom the municipa waste stream via designated coection aciities appointed by the government or the oca authorities. 3 Important inormation Location o the teephone The teephone shoud be operated in a controed environment with an ambient temperature between 5 C and 40 C. To ensure good speakerphone quaity, the area in ront o the microphone (ront right) shoud be kept cear. The optimum speakerphone distance is 50 cm. Do not insta the teephone in a room where arge quantities o dust accumuate; this can consideraby reduce the service ie o the teephone. Do not expose the teephone to direct sunight or any other source o heat, as this is iabe to damage the eectronic components and the pastic casing. Do not operate the teephone in damp environments such as bathrooms. I a particuar unction on your phone is not avaiabe to you, this may be due to one o the oowing reasons: The unction is not conigured or you or your teephone. Pease contact your system support representative. Your communications patorm does not eature this unction. Pease contact your Siemens saes partner or inormation on how to upgrade. This user guide is intended to hep you amiiarize yourse with OpenStage and a o its unctions. It contains important inormation on the sae and proper operation o your OpenStage phone. These instructions shoud be stricty compied with to avoid operating errors and ensure optimum use o your mutiunctiona teephone in the network. These instructions shoud be read and oowed by every person instaing, operating or programming an OpenStage phone. This user guide is designed to be simpe and easy to understand, providing cear step-by-step instructions or operating your OpenStage phone. Administrative tasks are deat with in a separate manua. The Quick Reerence Guide contains quick and reiabe expanations o requenty used unctions. Intended use The OpenStage phone is a desktop unit designed or voice transmission and or connection to the LAN. It can aso be used as a workstation device. Any other use is regarded as unauthorized. Teephone type The phone name data can be ound on the name pate on the base o the device; The exact product name and seria number are speciied here. Speciic detais concerning your communications patorm can be obtained rom your service technician. Pease have this inormation ready when you contact our service department regarding auts or probems with the product. Speakerphone quaity and dispay egibiity To ensure good speakerphone quaity, the area in ront o the teephone (ront right) shoud be kept cear). The optimum distance is approx. 50 cm. Proceed as oows to optimize dispay egibiity: Turn the phone to tit the dispay to ensure you have a ronta view o the dispay whie eiminating ight reexes Adjust the contrast as required page

12 Genera inormation Singe-ine teephone/muti-ine teephone Your OpenStage 15 is a "muti-ine teephone". This means that mutipe ines can be conigured, which is not the case with singe-ine phones. Each ine is assigned an individua phone number which you can use to make and receive cas. The programmabe keys unction as ine keys on muti-ine phones page 19. 15 Using network ports more eicienty Getting to know your OpenStage phone OpenStage 15 has a buit-in 10/100 Mbps Ethernet switch. This means that you can connect a PC to the LAN directy via the phone. The teephone-pc connection option must irst be activated on the teephone by service personne. Network switch OpenStage 15 PC Using this connection option saves one network port or each switch used and requires ewer or shorter network cabes when arranged correcty. 15

16 Getting to know your OpenStage phone OpenStage Key Modue 15 The OpenStage Key Modue 15 is a key modue attached to the side o the phone that provides an additiona 18 iuminated, programmabe sensor keys. Like keys on the phone, these keys can be programmed and used according to your needs page 18. You can ony attach one OpenStage Key Modue 15 to your OpenStage

18 Getting to know your OpenStage phone Programmabe unction keys Your OpenStage 15 has eight iuminated keys to which you can assign unctions or numbers. Increase the number o programmabe unction keys by connecting a OpenStage Key Modue 15 page 16. Peter Fox Destinations? Depending on how they are programmed, you can use the keys as: Function keys page 55 Seected diaing page 57 Each key can be programmed with one unction. Press the key briey to activate the programmed unction or dia the stored number. I you hod the key down, you wi be prompted as to whether you want to program this unction key. I the prompt is not dispayed or a programmed unction is not executed, then you can ony aunch key programming via the user menu page 56 (ask your service personne about the current setting). Your OpenStage is deivered with abe strips. Write unctions or names in the white ieds on the abe strips. The status o a unction is shown by the LED on the corresponding unction key. Line and DDS keys can ony be programmed by service personne via the service menu. Meaning o LED dispays on unction keys LED S O Meaning o unction key The unction is deactivated. 19 Trunk keys (on muti-ine phones ony) Getting to know your OpenStage phone The programmabe keys on muti-ine phones unction as ine keys. Each key that is assigned the unction "ine" is handed as a ine. This means up to seven ines can be conigured. A distinction is drawn here between primary, secondary and phantom ines. Each o these ine types can be used on a private or shared basis page 19. Primary ine A muti-ine teephones have a primary ine. This ine can be reached in the usua manner via your pubic phone number. Incoming cas are signaed on this ine. To avoid conict between individua muti-ine phones, the unctions "Do not disturb" and "Ca orwarding" can ony be used or the primary ine. Secondary ine The secondary ine on your phone is used as a primary ine by another subscriber o the ine trunk group. Your primary ine, which is conigured on another teephone in the ine trunk group, simutaneousy unctions as the secondary ine on that teephone. Phantom ine Phantom ines are not used as primary ines by any teephones in the ine trunk group. Phantom ines are estabished when the number o ines provided by a communications system exceeds the number o avaiabe teephones. Line utiization Private ine: A ine that is used by a singe teephone. This ine cannot be used as a secondary ine by another teephone. Shared ine: A ine that is conigured on mutipe teephones. The ine status is dispayed or a teephones that share this ine. I, or exampe, a shared ine is being used by a teephone, a status message indicating that this ine is busy is dispayed on a other teephones ( page 20). Direct ca ine: A ine with a direct connection to another teephone. 19

21 Getting to know your OpenStage phone Keypad You can ony use the digits 1 to 9 and 0 as we as the * and # characters when diaing a number. To deete digits, seect "Back" with the Navigation keys and conirm with =. In situations where text input is possibe, or exampe, when entering the user password, you can aso use the dia keys to enter text in addition to the digits and specia characters mentioned. To do this, press the numerica keys repeatedy. Exampe: To enter the etter "h", press the number 4 key on the keypad twice. When entering text, a characters avaiabe or the key pressed and the character seected are briey dispayed. Text editor Switch between upper and ower case. Activate the teephone ock. Additiona options are avaiabe in the text editor. This is used when programming a orwarding destination, or exampe. In this way, you can, or exampe, move the cursor reey and copy or insert text. 23 Getting to know your OpenStage phone Dispay Your OpenStage 15 comes with a back-and-white LCD dispay. Adjust the contrast to suit your needs ( page 136). Ide mode I there are no cas taking pace or settings being made, your OpenStage 15 is in ide mode. Entries may vary. The ide menu may contain the oowing entries: Redia? Ringer o? Do not disturb on? Mobie ogon? Cance cabacks? Directed pickup Back? Icons in the ide dispay In the irst and second ine, the time, weekday, and date are dispayed in addition to icons or dierent situations and switches: Icon Expanation The ring tone is deactivated. The phone ock is activated. The "Do not disturb" unction is activated. A mobie user is ogged on to the teephone. 23

24 Getting to know your OpenStage phone Context-dependent dispays Depending on the situation at hand, the dispay on your OpenStage phone dispays dierent content, to which you can respond intuitivey. Inormation on actua events The oowing icons appear centered on the dispay when your phone is ide and signa current properties or events. Exampe: You missed two cas in your absence. 02 You have two new voice messages that you can open by pressing O page 26. Icons or events Icon Expanation Caback requests are active. The other unctions are hidden and can be seected using Navigation keys : or <: Redia {1} 1234 Ringer o Do not disturb o Mobie ogon Cance ca backs Directed pickup First entry (seected when you ca up the menu, i you have aready diaed a phone number) Other menu options (hidden) Functions during a ca In many operating situations you are oered appropriate unctions or notes in the second ine o the dispay. Other avaiabe unctions remain hidden and can be seected using Navigation keys : or <: Exampe: You set up a consutation ca. The second ine dispays the irst o three dependant unctions. Seect the appropriate unction and conirm this with = Dia Redia {1} Retrieve hed ca First dispay ine Second dispay ine (current option) Other menu options (hidden) The menu with the unctions coses automaticay ater you have executed an action. 26 Getting to know your OpenStage phone Records Entries in the ca ist and messages in your maibox system (i conigured) are known as records. The LED on the O page 17 key ights up to signa new missed cas. Press the O key and use the Navigation keys to seect the required submenu. Messages Cas You can use the Navigation keys to navigate through the menus as described on page 17. Messages I conigured (contact the reevant service personne), this provides you with access to your maibox system e.g. HiPath Xpressions. I your system is appropriatey conigured, activating this unction cas the maibox. Foow the voice maibox instructions. Cas This ist appears as soon as you receive new missed cas i you seect the option Cas in the Records menu. You can then scro up or down to reach the Cas menu. The oowing cas or ca attempts are ogged as ca ists: Missed: Missed cas Diaed: Diaed cas (with or without connection) Received: Answered cas Forwarded: Forwarded cas The number o missed cas and unchecked cas is shown on the ide dispay. Ca ists Each ca ist may contain up to 30 entries. Once this imit is reached, the odest entry in the og is deeted. Mutipe cas rom the same number are ony isted once. The oowing data are stored, e.g. or missed cas: Phone number/name depending on avaiabe data. Number o ca attempts. The date and time o the ast ca attempt rom each user isted. Entries can ony be saved i the caer ID is dispayed as a name, number or both. I the caer ID is not transerred, the ca is saved as "Unknown". You can deete a the entries in the respective ca ist page 90. Ater seecting an entry, you can dia it immediatey by conirming page

27 Getting to know your OpenStage phone Program/Service menu You can make oca settings here. Press the N key and conirm the User menu. I conigured, enter and conirm your persona user password. You can use the Navigation keys to navigate through the menus as described on page 17. Once the admin password has been entered, the Admin menu is avaiabe to the reevant service personne. User settings In the User menu (see page 158), settings options are provided that aow you to adapt the teephone to your individua requirements. Seect a menu using the Navigation keys: "Date and time" page 137 "Audio" page 141 "Coniguration" e.g. page 110 or page 64 "Phone" page 136 "Locaity" page 141 "Security" page 111 or page 113 "Network inormation" page 149 "Reset" I you are in one o these menus or submenus, depending on the situation, you have the oowing options to eave the menus: Save & exit (I you have made a setting and want to keep it) Exit (no save) (I you have made a setting which you do not want to use ater a or i you do not want set any o the options) Back (I you want to eave the main menu or submenu) Press and hod the : key to access the option to eave the current menu eve. You exit the menu by pressing the N key and return to ide mode page 23. Interrupting editing in the menu You can interrupt editing in the menu, or exampe, to ca someone or to answer a ca. Then press the N key. This takes you back to the point in the menu rom which you exited. This is however ony possibe or a imited period which is by service personne using the inactivity timeout setting. I the conigured time expires, you need to reenter your password when opening the menu and manuay go to the required point in the menu. Interrupting the editing: By pressing the N key you interrupt the editing, eave the menu and return to ide mode page 23. I you receive a ca during editing and you answer it, you automaticay change to the ca view (see aso page 25). To go back to editing mode in the menu, press the N key again. 27

V Reset phone Persona settings made via the teephone menu or the web interace can be reset to actory settings page 150. Administration You can access the administration area via the "Admin" unction and by entering the administration password. Reer to the administration manua suppied with your phone or more detaied inormation on this topic. Contro and monitoring unction A contro or monitoring unction can be activated on your phone or service purposes by remote maintenance. Contro unction Service personne have the option to activate and deactivate eatures o the phone via remote maintenance. During maintenance the handset, microphone, oudspeaker and headset are deactivated. You are additionay inormed on the dispay that the contro unction is active. Monitoring unction In order to detect maunctioning o a phone or exampe, the service personne insta a monitoring unction. You can use your phone as norma during monitoring. However you wi irst be inormed about the operation with a message on the dispay and prompted to aow monitoring. I service personne have activated a unction on your phone, which continuousy transmits operating data to a server, you wi see the ashing icon in the upper dispay ine. 28

29 Basic unctions Basic unctions Pease read careuy the introductory chapter "Getting to know your OpenStage phone" page 13 beore perorming any o the steps described here on your phone. Secure voice transmission Prerequisite: The secure voice communication option must be activated by your service personne. I you ca a party or receive a ca rom a party over a secure connection, a padock icon appears on the dispay. 1 appears on the other party s ine. You can opt to have voice connections that are no onger secure indicated by a brie aerting tone and the message "Unencrypted ca" appears on the second ine or two seconds (see page 145). Answering a ca Your OpenStage phone rings with the tone signa set when an incoming ca is received. The ca is aso visuay signaed on the ca dispay. I transmitted, caing party inormation (name, phone number) appears on the dispay. I you have set a pattern meody page 143 on your phone, it is possibe that service personne have preset a dierent pattern meody or pattern sequence or deactivated the ringtone, depending on the ca type (e.g. an externa or interna ca). An incoming ca wi interrupt any ongoing teephone setting operations. When the ca ends, you can press the N key to return to the point in the menu structure where you were interrupted. 1.
