1 POLICY CODE: I 3.1 Plicy Statement: The Lndn District Cathlic Schl Bard acknwledges the participatin f schl cmmunities t generate funds that supprt the learning f students, the dignity f the human persn and Cathlic scial teachings. Fundraising must be limited and give pririty t supprting the individual needs f the lcal schl cmmunity and Cathlic charities and charitable causes, in a balanced apprach that supprts the greater cmmunity. Purpse: The purpse f this plicy is t utline the parameters within which schl cmmunities will generate funds t supprt student learning, charities and wrld missins. The primary gal f ur Cathlic schls is t educate students, therefre, fundraising must be limited and aligned with the gals f the Lndn District Cathlic Schl Bard. All fundraising must be facilitated as an educatinal pprtunity fr student learning, student leadership and the missin f scial justice. Applicatin and Scpe: This plicy shall apply t all schls and affiliated partnerships within the Lndn District Cathlic Schl Bard. 1.0 Principles: 1.1 All funds that are raised by students and schl cmmunities must be cnsistent with the values and missin f the Lndn District Cathlic Schl Bard, the Ontari Curriculum and the Ontari Cathlic Graduate Expectatins. 1.2 All fundraising must prceed frm a firm cmmitment that there is an educatinal purpse fr students s that children and yuth develp a deeper understanding f Cathlic scial teachings t supprt wrks f charity. 1.3 All fundraising must prceed frm an understanding that there are disparities in equity amng schls and differences in the pprtunity f schl cmmunities t raise funds. 1.4 Fundraising must embrace the respnsible stewardship f funds, supprt the dignity f all persns and a preferential ptin fr thse wh are marginalized. 1.5 Schl Principals must have a clear understanding f their rle t prvide balanced supprt fr the needs f the lcal schl cmmunity, Cathlic charities and charitable causes in the greater cmmunity. 2 POLICY (cntinued) CODE: I All fundraising must cnfrm t Ontari Regulatin 298, Sectin 25 (Canvassing and Fundraising) and be used fr resurces that are nt prvided in the budget f the Lndn District Cathlic Schl Bard. 2.0 Requirements: 2.1 All fundraising must be limited and reasnable t supprt the needs f the lcal schl cmmunity, Cathlic charities and charitable causes in the greater cmmunity. 2.2 Each fundraising activity shall have the Principal s apprval. The Principal is respnsible fr all activities, cmmunicatins and canvassing related t schl fundraising invlving students, staff and Cathlic Schl Cuncils. 2.3 Permissin must be btained by the Principal frm the Supervisry Officer prir t the invlvement f students in any fundraising activity. Cnsideratin must be given t the frequency, type and number f fundraisers within an academic year. 2.4 The type, frequency and number f fundraisers in an academic year must be guided by the fllwing parameters: Types f Fundraising First Party Fundraiser Definitin: A fundraiser that raises mney t supprt the needs f the lcal schl cmmunity. First party fundraisers are a lcal decisin that is made by the Principal in cperatin with the infrmed understanding and input frm the Cathlic Schl Cuncil. The Principal and Cathlic Schl Cuncil are required t hst a meaningful discussin abut the number and frequency f fundraisers that the cmmunity can bear. The means f the schl cmmunity t supprt fundraising needs t be an imprtant cnsideratin with a fcus n the inclusin f all persns t supprt human dignity. Page 2 f 5

3 POLICY (cntinued) CODE: I 3.1 Third Party Fundraiser Definitin: A fundraiser that raises mney t supprt Cathlic charities r charitable causes in the greater cmmunity. Fr Elementary Schls, Third Party fundraising must be limited t a maximum f six fundraisers in an academic year. Elementary schl cmmunities must nt hst mre than three fundraisers fr third parties between the mnths f September December. Secndary schls may hst third party fundraisers giving cnsideratin t the willingness f the brader schl cmmunity t participate Bth elementary and secndary schl cmmunities must ensure that a minimum f 50% f third party fundraisers supprt Cathlic charities. System-directed Fundraiser Definitin: A system-wide fundraiser is a Third Party fundraiser that is encuraged and supprted by the Directr f Educatin. The Directr f Educatin will review the selectin f charities that will be the fcus f system-directed fundraisers n an annual basis and cmmunicate the names f the charities t the Principals f the schl system. 2.5 Funds that are raised in a given schl year are t be utilized n behalf f the pupils in the same schl year unless therwise apprved by the Supervisry Officer. If there are any unused funds, the Principal will submit a detail plan fr the disbursement f these unused funds t the Supervisry Officer fr apprval. 2.6 Principals and Supervisry Officers are required t mnitr and reprt n the status f schl fundraising n an annual basis. 2.7 Student participatin in fundraising events and activities is vluntary, withut any undue pressure n any student t cntribute r participate. Cnsideratin shall be given t such factrs as the age and pprtunity fr students t raise funds. Page 3 f 5

Where a family has mre than ne child in the same schl, the number f children participating in any fundraising activity shall be a family decisin. 2.9 Fundraising by individual classrms must be included in the ttal scpe f fundraising activities and may nt be separate frm the parameters n fundraising by the whle schl cmmunity Fundraising activities will neither interfere with prgram delivery nr place undue burdens n the staff, the students r their families. Principals must cmmunicate t parents hw fundraising differs frm a request fr the payment f csts that supprt regular learning (Please see Plicy Cde: J Student Fees) The purpse f all fundraising must be clearly identified t the schl cmmunity. The Principal must cnsult with the Cathlic Schl Cuncil t plan all fundraising and ensure that there is transparency in prcess All fundraising will ensure the accuntability, recrd keeping and safe keeping f funds All fundraising by schl cmmunities must prtect the safety and well-being f students. Dr t dr peddling r sliciting by students is nt permitted in any public place All required municipal and prvincial licenses shall be btained where required The Principal shall ensure that there is fair and equitable distributin f fundraising prceeds fr the direct benefit f the pupils Schl fundraising shall nt be used fr the purpse f altering the schl s physical structure and/r shall nt result in a significant increase t the perating csts f the schl r the Lndn District Cathlic Schl Bard Where schls engage in fundraising t subsidize the csts t students fr educatinal field trips, students may elect nt t participate in the fundraising but rather t address persnal expenses independently The Principal will hst a discussin with the Cathlic Schl Cuncil t discuss the supprt f needy schls and ur calling by Gd t live the Beatitudes. Schl cmmunities will be asked t cnsider dnating a prtin f the prceeds frm First Party fundraisers t a cmmn fund. The cmmn fund will be administered by the Mnsignr Feeney Fundatin fr Cathlic Schls t supprt the neediest schls in ur cmmunity. Page 4 f 5
