Students are expected t use cmputers and the Internet respnsibly and fr schl related purpses nly. Use f the Nrwd Public Schls netwrk is a privilege. Vilatin f cnditins f use may result in that privilege being taken away in whle r in part by schl district persnnel. All ther related student plicies are applicable and ther cnsequences including suspensin r expulsin may fllw. Please review the Nrwd Public Schls Student Handbk. As a cnditin f the privilege t use the Nrwd Public Schls Netwrk and Internet service, I understand and agree with the fllwing: I will use cmputing resurces respnsibly I will use the Internet and ther cmputer resurces fr academic activities nly. I will nly play educatinal games authrized by my teacher, instructr r librarian. N ther game playing is allwed. I will fllw the guidelines fr printing set by my teacher r schl. I will nly save material n schl cmputers r Ggle Drive apprpriate fr educatinal use. I will nt transmit r deliberately access bscene, indecent, harassing, defamatry, r therwise ffensive material in any frm. I will use cmputing resurces safely I will nt give ut my name, picture, address, , r any ther persnally identifying infrmatin nline, unless specifically directed by my teacher fr nline classes r t access the Cllege in Clrad web site. I will nt give anyne my username and passwrd and I will nt use anyne else s username and passwrd. I will nly access chat rms, bulletin bards, blgs, r pst t an Internet site with explicit teacher permissin and fr specific schl related purpses nly. I will use cmputing resurces respectfully I will nt deliberately attempt t harm r destry data n any system n the netwrk r Internet. I will nt damage cmputer equipment r alter cmputer settings. I will nt access r alter ther student s accunts r files. I will use cmputing resurces in a manner that respects the intellectual prperty f thers. I will nt install, stre r distribute unauthrized sftware r materials. I will turn in wrk that I have created myself. If I brrw r cpy material frm ther surces, I will prperly cite thse surces. 1

2 Netwrk Bandwidth Cnsideratins: Users shuld strive t maintain apprpriate bandwidth fr schl-related wrk and cmmunicatins. Students shall nt access streaming sites such as Pandra, Netflix, YuTube and ther bandwidth intensive streaming sites. Nrwd Public Schls des nt guarantee cnnectivity r the quality f the cnnectin with persnal devices. Nrwd Public Schls reserves the right t blck student access t any site it deems inapprpriate r that uses an excessive amunt f the netwrk bandwidth. Bring Yur Own Device (BYOD) Plicy: Nrwd Public Schls is allwing sme students t bring their wn internet devices t use fr academic purpses. Fr the purpse f this prgram, the wrd device will include any apprved electrnic devices capable f accessing the internet, such as cell phnes, tablets, cmputers, etc. The fllwing rules apply t student wned devices brught t schl fr use in the BYOD prgram: Prir Apprval: Students must btain apprval t bring in a persnal device PRIOR t bringing it t schl. Students will be infrmed in class if they are eligible t participate in the BYOD prgram. BYOD Guidelines: Each teacher has the discretin t allw and regulate the use f persnal devices in the classrm and n specific prjects. Under n circumstances are students allwed t access the internet via cellular services (i.e. Data Plan) n their cell phne, tablet, r ther cellular enabled device while n campus. All internet access must be via the schl s wireless netwrk. Apprved devices must be in silent mde while n schl campus, unless therwise allwed by a teacher. Headphnes may be used with teacher permissin. Students must prvide their wn headphnes. Devices may nt be used t cheat n assignments, quizzes, r tests r fr nninstructinal purpses (such as making persnal phne calls and text messaging). Students may nt use devices t recrd, transmit, r pst phtgraphic images r vide f a persn r persns n campus during schl hurs r during schl activities, unless therwise allwed by a teacher. Devices may nly be used t access cmputer files and internet sites which are relevant t the classrm curriculum. Students must use nly their wn lgin accunt t access the schl s wireless netwrk. 2

3 Students and Parents/Guardians acknwledge that: The schl s netwrk filters will be applied t a device s cnnectin t the internet and any attempt t bypass the netwrk filters is prhibited. Nrwd Public Schls technlgy staff is authrized t cllect and examine any device that is suspected f causing technlgy prblems r was the surce f an attack r virus infectin. Students are prhibited frm: Bringing a device n premises that infects the netwrk with a virus, Trjan, r prgram designed t damage, alter, destry, r prvide access t unauthrized data r infrmatin. Prcessing r accessing infrmatin n schl prperty related t hacking. Altering r bypassing netwrk security plicies. Students and parents shuld be aware that devices are subject t search by schl administratrs if the device is suspected f a vilatin f the student cde f cnduct. If the device is lcked r passwrd prtected the student will be required t unlck the device at the request f a teacher r schl administratr. Lst, Stlen, r Damaged Devices: Each user is respnsible fr his/her wn device and shuld use it respnsibly and apprpriately. Nrwd Public Schls takes n respnsibility fr stlen, lst, r damaged devices, including lst r crrupted data n thse devices. While schl emplyees will help students identify hw t keep persnal devices secure, students will have the final respnsibility fr securing their persnal devices. Nrwd Public Schls is nt respnsible fr maintaining r trubleshting student devices. Right t Terminate f BYOD Prgram: Nrwd Public Schls reserves the right t remve individual students frm the BYOD prgram at any time fr any reasn that it deems is in the best interest f the schl. Nrwd Public Schls reserves the right t terminate the BYOD prgram at any time at its sle discretin. Cellular Service Plicy: Cell phne use is cvered by the BYOD plicy and the cell phne plicy cvered in the Student Cde f Cnduct. I agree t fllw thse plicies and the specific plicies stated belw: High Schl: Students will nt use a persnal cell phne while in class except as therwise allwed under the BYOD sectin f this agreement. Cell phnes are t be depsited in a designated cntainer in each 3

4 classrm upn entering the rm and picked up at the end f class. High Schl Students are permitted t use cell phnes during passing perids and lunch. Middle Schl & Elementary: Middle Schl and Elementary have a n cell phne plicy. Students are nt allwed t use cell phnes at schl ther than as allwed by the BYOD plicy. Cell phnes brught t schl are t be kept ff r silenced and ut f sight. Teachers may give students permissin t use a cell phne fr a specific class purpse. In such case, the BYOD plicy applies. All Students: Any student fund vilating the cellular service plicy will lse the right t use persnal cellular devices fr the remainder f the semester. This is a ne-strike plicy. Emergency Use: Per the Nrwd Public Schls Cnduct Cde, cell phne use is prhibited during an emergency such as lckdwn r evacuatin. During an emergency, teachers will cllect all student cell phnes. This is t keep the cellular system clear fr emergency persnnel use nly. Ggle Apps fr Educatin Nrwd Public Schls is participating in the Ggle Apps fr Educatin prgram. As part f the prgram students will be assigned a schl address and access t Ggle Apps fr Educatin. Apps include Ggle Dcs fr creating dcuments, spreadsheets and presentatins, Ggle Drive fr string files n the clud s they can be accessed by the student frm hme r anywhere else via the internet, and ther educatin related apps as determined by their teachers and the administratin. By accepting these terms and cnditins, students waive any right t privacy r cnfidentiality t material that was created, sent, accessed, r stred using a District cmputer r District prvided netwrk accunt. District persnnel can edit r remve any material that it believes may be unlawful, bscene, indecent, harassing r therwise bjectinable. The district des nt prmise that the functins f the Internet service will meet any specific requirements yu may have, r that the Internet service will be errr-free r uninterrupted. I cannt use cmputing resurces t vilate district plicies, federal r state laws. District administratrs have the final say n what cnstitutes a vilatin f Internet plicies. Thse vilatins include but are nt limited t all pints in this agreement.
