3 1. Intrductin Jseph Clarke Schl, in cmmn with all maintained schls, is required t prmte the spiritual, mral, cultural, mental and physical develpment f pupils at the schl (Educatin Act 2002). The Prevent strategy includes a requirement fr schls t prmte the fundamental British values f demcracy, the rule f law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tlerance f thse with different faiths and beliefs. This is explicitly set ut in the Teachers Standards. Jseph Clarke Schl fully shares these values, which are incrprated int the Missin Statement: Enjyment, Achievement and Wellbeing fr All Jseph Clarke Schl actively seeks t use the diversity f its cmmunity as a resurce fr learning, helping pupils t understand and respect difference in all its manifestatins and t be prud f wh they are. The fundamental British values f demcracy, the rule f law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tlerance f thse with different faiths and beliefs are prmted within the cntext f the curriculum (PSHE and Scial and Emtinal Develpment) as part f discrete lessns and schl activities and as relevant situatins arise. Thse pupils wh are able t understand the cncepts invlved are encuraged t understand that different peple have different cultures, values, lifestyles and family patterns, t treat ther peple with respect and t challenge apprpriately any expressin f intlerance. Schl staff are trained n the PREVENT agenda and aware f the need t reprt t the safeguarding fficer any cncerns that a pupil, r their family, might be vulnerable t radicalisatin.
