Access t and educatinal use f the infrmatin available frm the Internet and ther electrnic cmmunicatin surces are cnsistent with the gals and bjectives f the district. The Hillsbrugh Twnship Bard f Educatin firmly believes that the infrmatin available thrugh access t such surces as the Internet is invaluable t ur students and far utweighs the ptential fr ur students t be expsed t cntrversial material. It is the student's respnsibility t access infrmatin specifically related t curriculum gals and bjectives and t use that infrmatin apprpriately. This infrmatin includes all electrnic and Internet based surces including, but nt limited t websites, electrnic mail, infrmatin and news, sftware, wikis, blgs, discussin grups and ther scial media. Hillsbrugh Twnship educatrs will prvide guidance and instructin t the students in the apprpriate use f such resurces. The bard f educatin expects that students will use apprpriate and respnsible behavir n the schl netwrk and in the accessing f all electrnic infrmatin as independent researchers. Student cnduct while using the HTPS netwrk is t be in keeping with bard f educatin plicy fr general schl behavir (Plicy 5500 and 5600). T this end, the Hillsbrugh Twnship Public Schls retains the fllwing rights and recgnizes the fllwing bligatins: T mnitr the use f nline activities. This may include real-time mnitring f netwrk activity, file strage and/r maintaining a lg f all activity fr later review. T prvide internal and external cntrls as apprpriate and feasible. Such cntrls shall include the right t determine wh will have access t HTPS-wned equipment and, specifically, t exclude thse wh d nt abide by the HTPS's acceptable use plicy r ther plicies gverning the use f schl facilities, equipment, and materials. HTPS reserves the right t restrict nline destinatins thrugh sftware r ther means. T prvide guidelines and make reasnable effrts t train staff and students in acceptable use and plicies gverning nline cmmunicatins. Staff Respnsibilities Staff members wh supervise students, cntrl electrnic equipment, r therwise have ccasin t bserve student use f said equipment nline shall make reasnable effrts t mnitr the use f this equipment t assure that it cnfrms t the missin and gals f the HTPS.

Every effrt is made t prvide staff with the resurces necessary fr classrm instructin. Psting schl related cntent t external resurces beynd the scpe f the district, withut direct district authrizatin, is nt permitted. All use f the HTPS netwrk must be in supprt f educatinal and research bjectives cnsistent with the missin and bjectives f the HTPS. Prper cdes f cnduct in all electrnic cmmunicatin must be used. The smth peratin f the HTPS netwrk relies upn respnsible use f the netwrk and requires the adherence t ethical and legal use f this resurce. Access t the HTPS netwrk is a privilege, nt a right; therefre, students will be permitted t use these resurces upn the submissin f an agreement frm signed by the student and by the minr student's parent/guardian at grades and upn entry t the schl district. The signed Acceptable Use Plicy frm will be kept n file as a legal binding dcument. Failure t cmply with the agreement fr acceptable use may result in the student's lss f access t the HTPS netwrk as well as ther disciplinary and legal actins. I als acknwledge that plicies and prcedures which require classrm teachers and library/media specialists t mnitr and restrict access t inapprpriate material are in place, but the Hillsbrugh Twnship Public Schls cannt mnitr users at all times and thus cannt guarantee that students will nt gain access t educatinally inapprpriate material. Therefre, I will nt hld the Hillsbrugh Twnship Public Schls respnsible fr any inapprpriate material acquired frm this netwrk. In additin, I understand that the Hillsbrugh Twnship Public Schls d nt assume respnsibility fr the accuracy r reliability f infrmatin btained thrugh access t remte sites. I agree nt t use the HTPS netwrk, including any f its cmmunicatin facilities, in any way, which deliberately diminishes r interferes with the use the netwrk f thers. This includes, but is nt limited t: Unauthrized access t restricted files, directries r infrmatin Attempts t gain access t restricted files, directries r infrmatin Deliberate attempts t crash r bstruct anther s use f a system r netwrk Theft f hardware, sftware, and cmputer related supplies Intentinal activities arund the cmputer that result in damage t cmputers, sftware r infrmatin Wasting finite resurces I understand that nly sftware authrized by the Bard f Educatin will be used n the HTPS netwrk; therefre, I will nt install r cpy any unauthrized sftware n any district cmputer. Furthermre, I acknwledge the right f the Bard f Educatin s staff t immediately remve any files r prgrams placed upn the netwrk nt intended fr educatinal use. I agree t use the HTPS netwrk and all devices n it in accrdance with acceptable cnduct as defined in Bard f Educatin plicy. Unacceptable cnduct includes, but is nt limited t: Using the HTPS netwrk t acquire, cpy, transmit, display, receive r print lewd, indecent, vulgar, ffensive r inapprpriate text, pictures, audi r vide Using the HTPS netwrk t acquire, cpy, transmit, display, receive r print harassing, demeaning, r ffensive speech r materials. Transmitting r psting any material in vilatin f lcal, state, r federal law including cpyrighted materials, and threatening r bscene materials Using anther s accunt and/r passwrd Sharing f ne s accunt and/r passwrd Cmmercial r illegal use f the HTPS netwrk fr financial gain r fraud Accessing materials which the administratin cnsiders inapprpriate Attempting t bypass system filters and mnitrs t gain access t cntent nrmally nt allwed

Engage in ther activities that d nt advance the educatinal purpses fr which the cmputer netwrk/cmputers are prvided I understand that the use f the HTPS netwrk is a privilege, nt a right, and that inapprpriate use may result in my suspensin f thse privileges in varying degrees and my suspensin frm schl by the building administratr. The Bard f Educatin may deny me future cmputer privileges at all bard facilities and I may be subject t further disciplinary, as well as legal actins fr vilatin f cpyright and/r licensing laws. Users will be persnally charged fr any unauthrized csts incurred in their use f the HTPS netwrk and held respnsible fr any damages caused by their misuse f the HTPS netwrk equipment. I agree t reprt any knwledge f plicy vilatins that I am aware f t the building s staff and/r administratin. All electrnic cmmunicatins systems and all infrmatin transmissins received r stred in the HTPS netwrk are prperty f the Hillsbrugh Twnship Bard f Educatin. Data stred and transmitted n schl cmputers can and will be mnitred and all emplyees have n rights t privacy with regards t that data. Internet access and technlgy is t be used primarily fr schl related purpses. Incidental persnal use f the schl netwrk and services must nt interfere with the nrmal peratins f the infrmatin netwrk, emplyee s jb perfrmance and must nt vilate any tenets f the student Acceptable Use Plicy r district/state/federal regulatins n sexual and all ther frms f discriminatry harassment. Schl emplyees are als prhibited frm using district technlgy t supprt utside business activities, cmmunicating annuncements r slicitatins fr nn-prfit rganizatins, r representing persnal views. I acknwledge receiving a cpy f the Hillsbrugh Bard f Educatin Acceptable Use Plicy and cnsent t the Hillsbrugh administratin s mnitring my use f district technlgy at any time. Such mnitring may include printing and reading all files and entering, stred n, r leaving the servers r services emplyed by the Hillsbrugh Twnship Public Schls.
