1 Welcome to the Cricketers at Clavering Trevor and Sally Oliver have owned this 16th century inn since 1976, winning awards for both its food and accommodation along the way. A family business, children Jamie and Anna-Marie both worked at the pub when they were very young, with Jamie working in the kitchen and igniting his passion for food, and Anna-Marie as an efficient waitress. Trevor and Sally were serious pioneers of the pub food revolution, gaining a reputation for only using freshly prepared ingredients something the kitchen maintains today. Executive Chef Justin Greig and Head Chef Matthew Gurnett have worked together for 17 years at The Cricketers, running a team of enthusiastic chefs who strive to use local and seasonal ingredients of the best quality. All the fish on our menu arrives fresh from Billingsgate market and meat is hung and butchered onsite, so we can guarantee a high standard. Bread is baked every morning in our new wood-fired oven and pasta is made using our authentic Italian pasta machine.
