2 1.04 SUBMITTALS A. Submit certificates showing that the products delivered to the site comply with the standards set forth in the specifications. Include a certificate for bulk materials. B. Submit manufacturer s certification of compliance to the specified performance criteria in the form of a system description letter that includes: 1. Descriptions of the roof systems to be installed. 2. Confirmation that the roofing contractor is approved by the roof manufacturer to install the roof system and furnish the specified manufacturer s warranty. 3. Wind uplift pressures for all three zones on all roof levels and a roof plan denoting the location and widths of the corner, perimeter and field wind uplift zones. Refer to Structural Drawing Sheet S0.0, General Notes, Design Criteria, for design wind uplift pressures. 4. Plan view of insulation / cover board showing attachment requirements per board for each of the wind uplift zones on all roof levels. 5. A schedule of inspections to be performed by a technical representative of the roof system manufacturer during the installation of the roofing. C. Submit the manufacturer's cut sheet on all products. D. Submit the manufacturer's latest installation instructions for all materials QUALITY ASSURANCE A. The installer of the roof system must have a minimum of five years experience installing this type of roofing on projects of this type and size. B. The installer must be approved by the manufacturer of the roofing materials. C. It is the intent to install all materials in accordance with the manufacturer's latest printed specifications. If there is a conflict between manufacturer's instructions and these specifications, notify the owner and the consultant. If there is a question of quantity in materials or application method, the more rigid specification shall apply. D. A pre-installation conference shall be convened prior to the beginning of this work. The conference should be used to clear up any questions or ambiguities about materials and methods of installation. E. The roof system and the component parts must be designed and installed to meet, at minimum, wind uplift pressures in accordance with local building codes and must withstand at least 120 mph wind velocity. F. The roofing and sheet metal must be installed and warranted by the roofing contractor. If the sheet metal work is installed by a sub-contractor, that contractor must be employed by the roofing contractor. 08/30/11 ISSUE FOR PRICING (ADDENDUM 1)
3 1.06 DELIVERING, STORAGE, AND HANDLING OF MATERIALS A. Deliver materials to the site bearing manufacturers' labels, production dates, or product codes. B. Deliver material on pallets. Roll goods shall be stacked on end. Handle all goods to prevent damage. C. Store materials in dry protected areas. Use enclosed trailers when possible. Do not store roll goods or insulation materials in the PVC shipping wrappers. Use a waterproof tarpaulin to completely cover the materials. Protect materials from freezing. D. Keep lids on plastic cement, adhesive, primers, and other materials which are sensitive to evaporation. E. Do not thin primers, adhesives, or similar materials unless specified by the manufacturer. F. Remove any material from the job site which becomes wet or damaged. G. Comply with local fire codes and ordinances when flammable materials are to be stored. H. Do not load the roof deck or structure beyond its capacity PROJECT SITE AND CONDITIONS A. Do not install roofing products when moisture in any form is present (eg. rain, dew, frost, ice, or snow). B. Care must be taken when the mean temperature falls below 40 degrees F. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for cold weather application. C. Test surfaces for moisture by pouring or mopping hot bitumen over a section of the area in question. Do not proceed with roofing operations if: 1. There is any foaming or bubbling of the bitumen on the unprimed concrete deck. 2. If the bitumen can be readily stripped from the primed substrate after it cools WARRANTY A. Before final payment, submit to the owner a warranty for a period of 2 years. The warranty shall cover all roofing, sheet metal, and related work called out in these documents. It shall cover defects in material and workmanship, as well as agreeing to make prompt repairs if notified of a leak. Provide a warranty inspection 3 months prior to the expiration. Repair defects in materials or labor discovered at this time. These defects shall include, but not be limited to, bitumen drips, voids, blisters, vapor ridges, or fish mouths. B. Provide a maintenance schedule and maintenance information for the roof system installed. 08/30/11 ISSUE FOR PRICING (ADDENDUM 1)

Provide a manufacturer's warranty on the full system installed for a period of twenty years with all available options, flashing endorsement and including roof membrane, vapor barrier, roof insulation, fluid applied roofing and flashings, and roofing manufacturer s accessories, and signed by roofing system manufacturer agreeing to promptly repair leaks resulting from defects in materials or workmanship for a 20-Year Full Systems (NDL) Warranty after date Substantial Completion. The warranty shall also include a 120 mph wind warranty. Include in pricing, all materials and labor upgrades required by Derbigum for the specified warranty. PART 2 PRODUCTS 2.01 GENERAL A. Performance: The entire roof assembly must be FM listed. Identify materials with FM markings. The roofing system shall be designed by the roof system manufacturer and installed to meet at minimum wind uplift pressures in accordance with local building codes and must withstand at least 120 mph wind velocity. B. Compatibility: Provide products which are recommended by manufacturers to be fully compatible with indicated substrates, or provide separation materials as required eliminating contact between incompatible materials ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURER A. Performance Roof systems, Kansas City, Mo. (No substitutions) 2.03 VAPOR BARRIER (BASE PLY) A. Derbibase 1. Smooth surfaced APP modified base sheet 2. Thickness: 80 mils 3. Tensile strength: ASTM D Machine Direction / 150 Cross Direction 2.04 INSULATION AND COVER BOARD A. Roof Insulation: Derbiboard polyisocyanurate 1. Roof insulation thickness: 3.2 (minimum R 19.8) 2. Compressive strength: 20 psi per ASTM D Density: Nominal 2.0 pcf per ASTM D Insulation shall comply with FM Standard Crickets: Derbiboard polyisocyanurate tapered insulation board. Provide crickets where indicated on plans or required for positive roof drainage, slope shall be ½ per foot. 6. 6 2.10 PRIMER A. Derbigum Primer, as recommended by the roof system manufacturer 1. Application Rate: per 1.2 gallons 2.11 FLUID APPLIED ROOFING AND FLASHING A. Derbiflash 1. Derbigum EF Resin, cold fluid applied polyester reinforced membrane 2. Derbigum HP Fleece, polyester reinforced fleece 3. Derbigum Liquid Surfacing & Mixing Sand, topcoat bonding/sealing agent on roofing. 4. Derbigum Permacool, reflective elastomeric roof coating on both roofing and flashings. Color to match cap sheet on roofing and flashings except under Alucobond wall panels; color of Permacool to match color of Alucobond wall panels. PART 3 EXECUTION 3.01 EXAMINATION A. Examine surfaces to receive the new roof assembly, base flashing, and sheet metal. Report any conditions which may lead to defective installation or failure in workmanship or products. The products used should be suitable for the conditions present to produce a functional, leak free installation PREPARATION A. Clean and prepare the deck to receive the new roof system including primers as required by the roof system manufacturer. B. At re-roof areas, tear off existing roofing and prepare the roof deck to receive the new roof system. Do not remove more roofing than can be installed in the same day. C. Install a two-ply water cut off at the end of work each day; remove it when work resumes. D. Protect new roofing and the building from water entry at all times INSTALLATION A. Install all materials in strict compliance with the manufacturer s recommendations. Provide all materials and installation upgrades required by the manufacturer for the specified manufacturer s warranty including wind speed resistance warranty. B. Over the new structural concrete roof deck and over existing structural concrete roof deck, install the vapor barrier (base ply) using the torch method. Follow the manufacturer s instructions for installation. 1. Exert sufficient pressure on the roll to prevent voids. 2. Install the roof membrane from the low edge of the roof in shingle fashion. 08/30/11 ISSUE FOR PRICING (ADDENDUM 1)
7 3. Cut out and repair wrinkles, voids and fish mouths. 4. Follow the manufacturer's latest printed specifications for installation of the roofing material. C. Install insulation and cover board over the vapor barrier on the new structural concrete roof deck and existing structural concrete roof deck in cold adhesive (Permastic IA) at a rate of 1.5 to 2 gallons per square. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for installation. 1. Fill all voids over ¼ with additional insulation. 2. Stagger joints between insulation layers. 3. Follow the manufacturer s latest printed specifications for installation of the insulation and cover board. D. Install cover board over existing gypsum roof deck with insulation adhesive. Application rate of adhesive shall be determined by roof system manufacturer to withstand wind uplift pressures. E. Install roof insulation / tapered roof insulation over cover board on existing gypsum deck where indicated on plans with insulation adhesive. Install cover board over roof insulation with insulation adhesive; install urethane sealant in board joints as recommended by Derbigum. Application rate of adhesive shall be determined by roof system manufacturer to withstand wind uplift pressures. F. Install roof insulation to match existing gypsum board roof deck thickness at existing steel roof deck, secure insulation to steel deck with mechanical fasteners and plates, and cover board with insulation adhesive Number and type of fasteners and plates, and the application rate of the insulation adhesive shall be determined by roof system manufacturer to withstand wind uplift pressures. G. Install base sheet over cover board with cold adhesive (Permastic) at a rate of 1.5 to 1.8 gallons per square. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for installation. 1. Exert sufficient pressure on the roll to prevent voids. 2. Install the roof membrane from the low edge of the roof in shingle fashion. 3. Cut out and repair wrinkles, voids and fish mouths. 4. Heat fuse laps. 5. Follow the manufacturer's latest printed specifications for installation of the roofing material. H. Install cap membrane over base sheet with cold adhesive (Permastic) at a rate of 1.5 to 1.8 gallons per square. Follow the manufacturer s instructions for installation. 1. Exert sufficient pressure on the roll to prevent voids. 2. Install the roof membrane from the low edge of the roof in shingle fashion. 3. Cut out and repair wrinkles, voids and fish mouths. 4. 8 I. Prime substrates and install reinforced fluid applied roofing system with surfacing at area denoted on the plans in accordance with the manufacturer s latest printed installation instructions. Countersink screws used to attach cover board to walls at base flashings and install urethane sealant in board joints and over screws as recommended by Derbigum. All base flashings including new curbed flashing at new roof top unit shall be reinforced fluid applied flashing QUALITY CONTROL A. The owner may employ inspection services during the course of this project. Provide safe and adequate access to all parts of the work. B. Test cuts may be taken to determine quantities and quality. Provide labor and material to repair these cuts. Test cuts will not exceed one per 10,000 sq. ft. of area. Testing will be paid for by the owner. If problems are indicated, further cuts and tests may be done, pay for any additional testing costs due to defective work PROTECTION A. Protect the roof membrane from damage until acceptance by the owner. Repair or replace damaged sections. B. Place temporary plywood panels or other protection over heavily trafficked areas.
