4 Why would the world s largest saturated felt underlayment manufacturer introduce a synthetic product? Simply put, there are many roofing installation needs where even the best #30 in the world is not designed for the long exposure and toughness requirements provided by a synthetic woven fabric product such as SUMMIT. will always be the most common underlayment product for use when the job is being dried in immediately and no special performance needs are being considered. However, many jobs have a long open time from the dry-in to the roof covering being installed and do need a tougher product, or the owner simply has the desire to use a premium product. That s why Atlas is offering SUMMIT! SUMMIT is constructed of a light weight, extremely strong, woven polypropylene fabric, with UV and water resistive coatings and packaged for convenience in 10 square rolls weighing less than 30 lbs. each. SUMMIT is unaffected by exposure to water and sunlight for at least 6 months - exactly what is needed to survive those special needs jobs. Summit Synthetic An inorganic, high strength woven fabric based roof system component appropriate for use in virtually all steep slope roof covering systems. 5 PRODUCT INFORMATION WeatherMaster Granular underlayment is a self-adhesive composite underlayment. The adhesive layer is composed of a proprietary modified asphalt, reinforced with an extra heavy fiberglass mat. The surfacing of opaque granules provides excellent traction and protection from UV radiation and weathering. The self-adhesive side is covered with a split release sheet which is removed during installation. WeatherMaster Granular underlayment composite is 47 mils (1.3mm) thick and is supplied in rolls of one square (3' x 33.3') (0.9m x 10m) and two square (3' x 72.1') (0.9m x 22m). WeatherMaster is selfadhesive and cold-applied. No special adhesives, heat or equipment are necessary to install WeatherMaster Granular underlayment under normal dry conditions of 45 F or warmer. 6 HIGH TEMPERATURE UNDERLAYMENT Self-Adhering for Metal and All Other Types of Roofing Systems Product INFORMATION WeatherMaster PolySeal is a durable, self-adhering modified composite underlayment, specifically designed to withstand the rigors of all roofing applications. The strong, slip resistant, poly fabric surface provides a rugged barrier to physical damage, UV degradation, weather, and moisture. The unique, modified asphalt adhesive layer offers the application benefits of cold temperature adhesion and exceptional thermal stability under high heat. The self-adhesive layer is covered with a high temperature split release sheet which is removed during installation. PolySeal has a 3" wide peel-off top selvage edge to provide additional system sealing at the top laps. WeatherMaster PolySeal is 50 mil (1.2 mm) thick and is supplied in 200 sq. ft. - (18.58 m) or (3 ft. x 66.6 ft.) (.9 m x 20.3 m) rolls. WeatherMaster PolySeal is self-adhering and cold applied. PolySeal prevents moisture entry into structures by sealing uniformly to the substrate and around nail penetrations. PolySeal can serve as a temporary roof to protect the structure until the primary roofing system is installed. PolySeal may be exposed for a maximum of 45 days. PolySeal is an excellent roof deck panel flashing tape to provide a secondary water barrier. Special Instructions: PolySeal should be installed only when ambient and substrate temperatures are 45 F (7.2 C) or higher. Prime wood or metal surfaces at temperatures below 45 F. Remove all dirt, dust, loose nails and debris prior to installing PolySeal. Decking must be dry. When PolySeal is to be adhered to any metal surfaces, priming with asphalt primer meeting ASTM D 41 is recommended. 7 Product INFORMATION WeatherMaster TU Ultra is a self adhesive tile underlayment. This underlayment is uniquely designed for use under tile, slate or metal roofing systems. WeatherMaster TU Ultra consists of a proprietary modified asphalt and a woven polyester. The woven polyester top surface aggressively bonds with foam adhesives used in tile installation and can withstand stacked tiles without slippage or damage to the membrane surface. It also provides superior traction for roofers during installation of the primary roofing system. No special adhesives, heat or equipment are necessary during installation above 45ºF and rising. The 3" wide peel off top selvage edge creates a waterproof bond with the succeeding course and provides the alignment guide for the next course. WeatherMaster TU Ultra is 60 mil. (1.5 mm) thick and is supplied in 200 sq. ft. (18.58 sq. m.) or 3' x 66'6" (1.9 m x 20.3 m) rolls. The deck must be clean, dry and free from loose materials and contaminants. All metal flanges shall be primed with asphalt primer prior to installation of WeatherMaster TU Ultra. Some codes require an additional base sheet course under WeatherMaster TU Ultra. Check your local building codes and use a base sheet that meets ASTM D 226, Type II, ASTM D 4869 Type IV or ASTM D 2626 if one is required. Apply the base sheet parallel to and abutting the eave. Apply the metal drip edge over the deck eave edge and nail 9" on center. End laps should be 6" and side laps a minimum of 3". Mechanically fasten the base sheet to deck with approved nails, staples or cap nails 6" on center at the laps and two staggered rows 12" on center in the field of the roll. Cover entire roof with the base sheet. Coat the top of the drip edge with a 2" wide troweling of modified bitumen adhesive. If an additional course is not used under WeatherMaster TU Ultra, place the metal drip edge directly on the deck and seal the leading edge as described above. For steep slope roofs (above 7" in 12"), secure WeatherMaster TU Ultra with either nails, staples or cap nails, placed 6" (150mm) on center only in the black selvage and overlap areas. When applying any WeatherMaster roofing underlayment, proper, code approved roof assembly ventilation is required.
