2 Certificate II - Security Operations Now you can learn from the best! Crown Perth prides itself on providing certified professional security services and we now offer you the opportunity to learn the same skills that the Crown Perth Security team use each day. A Certificate II in Security Operations from Crown Perth will open the door to a world of opportunity in security. Once completing the qualification you can also apply for a security licence through the West Australian police. Upon successful completion of the course you will be able to perform the role of a licensed security guard or crowd controller. A security guard monitors and controls the flow of people in a wide variety of different premises from hospitality and sporting venues, to corporate businesses and outdoor spaces. A crowd controller works within large crowds professionally and safely. This course is a perfect starting point for a career in security, and leads to further qualifications such as a Certificate III in Security Operations (Bodyguard). About the course: All students will need to complete a 15 day training course Training is held from Monday Friday, 8am to 4.30pm and will take place at our Crown Security Training venue The course instructors are experienced former police officers or security officers totalling over 145 years worth of extensive knowledge The Senior First Aid instructor has over 11 years experience as an army medic, providing health services in Australia and overseas within hostile and remote areas Structure of the course: 16 units completed that enables the applicant to obtain Security Guard and Crowd Control Licences Week 1-3 Empty Hand Control (35 hours including dynamic activities/assessment and Krav Maga Knife Defence) Close Personal Protection Training, activity and practical assessment Use of Force, Tactic and Legislation Holistic activities and assessment Week 4 Candidates considered for employment with Crown Perth will be invited to attend one week of paid training

3 Training and assessment methods: Training is delivered in a variety of methods including: Lecture Scenarios Questioning Role Play Demonstration Group Work Problem Solving Training is assessed in a variety of methods including: Written Test Self Assessment Class Activities Case Study Verbal Questioning Role Play Benefits: There are many benefits to completing the Security Operations course at Crown Perth including: Attending the only course in WA that offers specialised training on Krav Maga. Learning from instructors that all have extensive experience and knowledge within the Police and/or Security Industry. Receiving more extensive training, most courses in Perth only run for 14 days, however Crown Perth s offers a 15 day course inclusive of more specialised and dynamic situational activities. Learning the systematic approaches to restraints that are used at the Crown Perth. Receiving a full medical at no extra cost, as required from all Crown Perth trainees. If you are invited to the fourth week of Crown Perth training not only is it free of charge but we also pay you to complete the training. If you pass the fourth week of the Crown Perth course, you will be placed on a Trainee Contract for the employment course and your employment application will be fast tracked. If you are successful in becoming a Crown Perth employee you gain many other benefits including; free refresher training courses every 6 months, the opportunity to undertake our Nationally Accredited Body Guard Course (run on site) and or our Bike Course, (run by a qualified instructor), free meals, free parking, free uniform laundered and the prestigious status of working for Crown Perth.

4 Selection Criteria: Applicants must be 18 years of age or over. Applicants must be a citizen of Australia or New Zealand or a permanent resident of Australia. Applicants must complete a prescribed language, literacy and numeracy assessment. Applicants must complete a prescribed medical assessment (at no extra cost to the applicant) Applicants must be approved by the Development Manager - Security and enrolment may be declined at their discretion. Relevant factors include, but are not limited to, the results of pre-enrolment assessments. Fees and charges: A $1,000 charge will apply if you do not hold the following: Previous security experience Certificate II in Security post 1st January 2012 Current Security Guard Licence Current Crowd Control Licence The $1,000 fee includes the following: Security Guard and Crowd Control Certificate II Units First Aid Restraint/Self Defence Training Krav Maga Medical Assessment

5 Applicants with a valid crowd control licence, security guard licence and minimum of 7 years crowd control and security guard experience at a supervisor level may be eligible to complete the course free of charge. If you attend and pay for the course at the information session you will receive a $50 discount off the total course fee. If you are successful on completing a Certificate II in Security Operations and are invited to the 4th week of Crown Perth s Training, the course is not only free of charge but the applicant will also get paid whilst training. Employment at Crown Perth or with any other third party cannot be guaranteed once completing the Security Operations course. Medical assessment: A medical will be required from the applicant before commencing a Certificate II in Security Operations. The Medical will be held at RediMed in Belmont. This will be done at no cost to the applicant. Private security licence: In order to obtain an individual security licence, a separate application to the Western Australian Police is required. Completion of this qualification does not guarantee that such an application will be successful. Additional fees, character and reference checks are required and are the participant s personal responsibility.
