1 CUSTOMER APPLICATION NATIONAL POLICE CHECKING SERVICE Section 1: Qualification questionnaire Complete the questionnaire below to find out if you are eligible to become an Accredited Organisation with the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) to have access to the National Police Checking Service (NPCS). Please note that applicants may be required at a later date, to provide evidence to support their answers to any of the below questions. 1. ACIC requires that you read all relevant documentation prior to applying to become an Accredited Organisation to ensure your understanding of the NPCS and your obligations if you are to become accredited. Have you read the following documentation? a. Terms of Service and Schedule template b. The NPCS Process c. NSS Agency Functional Requirements d. NSS Submission Options e. Information Technology Security Management 2. To be able to enter into a contract with ACIC, your organisation must be an Australian registered business. An ASIC search will be undertaken to confirm your organisation s current status. Is your organisation an Australian registered business? 3. Your organisation is required to submit 500 checks or more in a 3 year period. This is due in part to the cost associated with onboarding, quality assurance and support provided to Accredited Organisations. If your organisation is unable to meet this requirement, we recommend that you seek to engage the services of an Australian police agency or ACIC approved broker to submit your checks. Do you anticipate that your organisation will submit a minimum of 500 checks in a 3 year period? 4. All ACIC Accredited Organisations must agree to be bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and act as an Australian Privacy Principles (APP) entity with respect to the collection, use, disclosure and storage of Personal Information, including Police History Information. Does your organisation agree to be bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) as an Australian Privacy Principles (APP) Entity? 5. In order to provide the NPCS, ACIC requires that your organisation is able to implement the security management measures as set out in the Information Technology Security Management document. Is your organisation willing and able to implement the security management measures as described above? 6. In order to provide the NPCS, ACIC requires that your organisation is able to meet the IT requirements as set out in the NSS Agency Functional Requirements document. 2 If you answered to any of the questions in Section 1, your organisation is deemed ineligible to apply to become accredited to access the National Police Checking Service (NPCS). If you answered to all questions in Section 1, please continue on to Section 2. Following on from an assessment of your application and forwarding a recommendation to the police, we will provide you with an update on the progress of your application. ACIC will aim to complete standard customer onboarding and your organisation will have access to the ACIC user interface (NSS) to start submitting checks. NPCS Customer Service will be in contact with you throughout the process. If your organisation requires a more tailored submission method, this will involve a longer time frame.
