1 Business Top End Darwin Waterfront (Mixed Mode) BSB51415 Diploma of Project Management DESCRIPTION This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply project management skills and knowledge. They may manage projects in a variety of contexts, across a number of industry sectors. They have project leadership and management roles and are responsible for achieving project objectives. They possess a sound theoretical knowledge base and use a range of specialised, technical and managerial competencies to initiate, plan, execute and evaluate their own work and/or the work of others. LENGTH OF COURSE The duration of the course is 12 months (4 teaching periods) on a part time basis. ACCREDITATION This qualification is taken from the Business Services Training Package (BSB) and is recognised nationwide. ENTRY/ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS From 1 January 2016, if you are enrolling in a Diploma or higher level course you will have to meet the entry level requirements for the course. SUPPORT SERVICES CDU provides assistance for Language, Literacy and Numeracy, Disability, Professional counselling in a wide range of personal, career, study issues and Indigenous academic support FEES For eligible NT resident domestic students, a limited number of positions are available where the course fee is charged at $8.40 per hour allocated to the unit. Eligible students will be residents of the Northern Territory who are either Australian or New Zealand citizens who have resided in Australia for the last six months or persons with Permanent Residency visas. These positions are referred to as capped positions and are sponsored by the Northern Territory Government. A student allotted a capped position will retain that position in later years for this specific course unless the Northern Territory Government removes sponsorship, or the student completes the course. Positions in the sponsored course are allocated on a first come, first served basis. Once these limited capped positions are filled, the course reverts to full fee for all students. Full fee students are charged at $14.00 per hour allocated to the unit. This course has a total of 520 hours and thus the qualification cost is $4, for students paying $8.40, and $7, for students paying $ The fees may be deferrable to VET FEE HELP (VFH) for VFH eligible students (Australian citizens or humanitarian visa holders). All fees for all students must be either paid in full or in part, with the balance deferred to VET FEE-HELP (for eligible students), by the census date for the unit(s) enrolled in. If a third party is paying on behalf of the student, the required paperwork must be submitted no later than five (5) working days before the census date. VET FEE-HELP is not available to third party sponsors, who will be invoiced separately. There is no requirement on third party sponsors to pay by census date. Note there is a difference in eligibility for a sponsored position in this course, and being eligible for VET FEE-HELP.

2 Options for payment include paying online, BPay, credit card via telephone, payment in person, cheque or money order payment by mail. All payments must be received by the census date. Instalment payments are not available for this course. The above fees apply for 2016 only the fees may be adjusted for later years. Failure to pay, or defer to VET FEE HELP by census date, or to submit sponsor paperwork in the required timeframe as noted above, will result in the enrolment being cancelled. As a mixed mode student you will study via a combination of online and face to face workshops that suit your work and study requirements. The program will be delivered online through the CDU LearnLine. All students are encouraged to develop networks to assist them with the completion of the assessment activities associated with the course. ASSESSMENT Assessments are completed both during workshop sessions and after the completion of the unit. All materials will be available on CDU LearnLine. Students have a set date when assessments must be completed by. Assessments vary with each unit and may include: written assignments, case studies, research project and practical activities and workplace observation in some cases. RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) takes into account the knowledge and skills you have already gained through your previous education and work. This may be through formal or informal training, paid or unpaid work experience, and can earn you credit if relevant to this course. Fees do apply for RPL assessment. For details on fees and information on how to apply for RPL, please refer to: PREVIOUS STUDIES RECOGNITION Do you already have a qualification, statements of attainment or academic statements for units completed at another registered training organisation? National recognition is all about recognising these previous studies. Where units of competency have the same national code but were awarded by another Registered Training Organisation, CDU will recognise these to assist you in completing this qualification. Simply present your original documentation i.e. qualification, statements of attainment or academic statements to the Course Coordinator who will verify the authenticity of these and arrange for a copy to be placed on file for later reference. There is no cost for recognition of these units. Previous study or experience may be recognised either through a Credit Transfer (CT) or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) pathway. Where credit for a unit of competence has been attained previously from a registered RTO, and that unit of competency is recognised in the current Training Package or Accredited Course

3 documentation, a CT will be granted. Where a student has no such recognised competency, but believes their previous experience no matter how gained, demonstrates competence in the unit (or course), a process of RPL will be used to determine whether the previous experience and knowledge achieves competence in the current unit or course. EXIT POINTS You may exit or withdraw from this qualification at any time and receive a Statement of Attainment for all units of competency you have successfully completed. CAREER PATHWAYS After achieving the BSB51415 Diploma of Project Management, candidates may choose to undertake an Advanced Diploma qualification or gain entry into an appropriate Bachelor program. Job roles and titles relevant to this qualification may differ between industry sectors but may include: Project Leader Project Management Facilitator Project / Program Administrator PROGRAM CONTENT The training program covers 12 units of competency taken from the training package. 8 units are core units, 4 units are electives and all must be successfully completed in order to be awarded the qualification.
