1 Requirements and Cmpensatin Resident Assistant Applicatin JOB DESCRIPTION Must have cmpleted at least 24 credit hurs at the time f emplyment. Must have a clear judicial recrd with Husing and Residential Life. Must have a minimum semester and cumulative GPA f 2.5 if undergraduate r 3.0 if a graduate student t apply. Must be enrlled as a full time undergraduate r graduate student. Must make the apprpriate prepayments and sign the standard MTSU Husing license agreement prir t the start f emplyment. RAs receive a mnthly stipend. All stipends are dispersed mnthly during the perid f emplyment. If an RA begins emplyment after the appintment start date, their mnthly stipend will be prrated accrdingly. RAs are prvided a meal plan each semester during the regular academic semesters. (JUB & McCallies) RAs are assigned t a private r single accmmdatin in their assigned building, at n additinal cst. RAs are billed the lwest standard rm rate regardless f which hall they may be assigned. Teamwrk and Supervisin Will reprt directly t the Area Crdinatr in their respective area and will be subject t the supervisin f the Resident Directr, the Assciate Directrs, and the Directr f Husing and Residential Life. Will be frmally evaluated n a peridic basis determined by the Directr f Husing and Residential Life r their designee(s). Must participate in assigned n duty hurs each week, must remain in their designated area while n duty, and are required t make themselves available t residents and/r staff members as directed. Required t assist in staffing their areas during Fall Break, Thanksgiving, and Spring Break. Expected t participate in Week f Welcme activities, athletic activities and ther University spnsred prgrams as utlined in their invlvement cntract. Required t attend all pre-service training sessins, staff develpment prgrams, and staff meetings as directed. Cmmunity Building Expectatins Other Expected t read the summer reading bk. Cnsistent with ur gal f prmting student invlvement during evenings and weekends, all RA staff will be expected t remain n campus during evenings and weekends unless given permissin by their supervisr t be excused. Expected t utilize prvided meal plans t facilitate sharing meals with residents in n campus dining halls. Additinal detailed expectatins and jb respnsibilities will be prvided by individual supervisrs. Required t facilitate educatinal prgrams during each semester f appintment. Required t disseminate infrmatin t residents in a timely manner by psting ntices, perfrm mnthly health and safety inspectins, and schedule regular hall meetings as directed. Required t enfrce standards f cnduct as cntained in the MTSU Student Handbk, MTSU and TBR Plicy Manuals, and the Husing and Residential Life Plicy Manual. Resident Assistants serve at the directin f the Directr f Husing and Residential Life. Resident Assistants wh resign r are dismissed befre the cmpletin f their appintment are nt immediately granted a cntract release. Resident Assistants wh resign r are dismissed but cntinue t reside n campus will be required t mve frm their current flr/building r area. Outside emplyment is discuraged due t the significant time cmmitment required fr perfrmance f the Resident Assistant psitin and must be discussed and apprved in advance by the Area Crdinatr. First semester Resident Assistants are nt permitted t take an verlad because having mre than 18 credit hurs places an extra burden n a staff member s ability t functin academically.
