5 Changes and Additins This sectin lists the changes and additins with respect t the previus majr release. New Functinality Versin release Added RealSht Manager (RSM) 2.2 API supprt. On startup, EZPlugger lads the file RSMServerlist.xml frm its installatin directry and immediately deletes this file. This file, which is created by RSM when launching EZPlugger, will cnsist f the IP address, prt number, username and passwrd f each RSM server. After EZPlugger cnfigures the cameras, devices are added t the assciated RSM server. In additin, EZPlugger als updates the user name and passwrd f the added device n RSM. N ther device prperty n RSM is changed r set by EZPlugger. RSM servers manually added in EZPlugger are assumed t have default credentials. If RSM denies EZPlugger request t add a device due t invalid credentials, EZPlugger will prmpt the user fr credentials fr each RSM server that denied the request due t authrizatin failure (i.e., HTTP status cde 401). Supprt device authenticatin using nn-default credentials. Discvered devices are verified against credentials knwn by EZPlugger. Since EZPlugger is nt aware f device credentials during the discvery prcess, EZPlugger initially assumes that devices have the factry default authrizatin. If this is nt the case, EZPlugger will allw the user t supply the crrect credentials fr each device that failed t authenticate. Prmpt the user if they want t change netwrk settings f discvered devices. During device discvery, EZPlugger checks if each discvered device has netwrk settings that are valid fr the netwrk. If any ne device is nt valid fr the netwrk, EZPlugger will prmpt the user if he/she wishes t change the netwrk settings f the devices and assign temprary settings fr the ffending devices. A device is valid fr the netwrk if its netwrk settings satisfy ALL f the fllwing cnditins: DHCP settings are the same as the EZPlugger hst machine; DNS settings are the same as the EZPlugger hst machine. The rder f DNS servers, when defined, must als match; and, The IP address f the device is nt used by any ther device in the netwrk. NOTE: EZPlugger attempts t keep the netwrk settings f devices that it determines are nt valid fr the netwrk. Please refer t Knwn Issues, Limitatins and Wrkarunds fr mre details. Installer supprts language selectin The EZPlugger nw allws the user t select the language t use. Current chices are English and Japanese. The Japanese resurce nly cntains adjusted dialgs t display crrectly n a Japanese versin f Windws. Language lcalizatin is nt included in the Japanese resurce library. 1

7 Bug Fixes This sectin lists bug fixes acrss different releases. Versin release [Defect 1236] When a new site cnfiguratin is created in ffline mde and servers are defined, running Device Cnfiguratin wizard withut exiting EZPlugger first will nt lad the server infrmatin and device-server assignments. As a wrkarund, restart EZPlugger when lading a new site in ffline mde. [Defect 1329] In a netwrk where IP addresses are statically assigned, EZPlugger als mdifies the IP address f unsupprted device mdels that respnded t device discvery. This prblem des nt exist in envirnments when DHCP enabled. [Defect 1333] Cntext sensitive help fr the New Site Name dialg cntains a dead link. Clicking n this link simply clses the help ppup. [Defect 1334] Frm Cntrl Center, if cntext help is invked n any f the three buttns crrespnding t the three wizards clicking n the wrd gateway in the ppup help will cause a memry errr and will terminate EZPlugger. [Defect 1338] When updating firmware, the cunter shws the ttal number f devices discvered instead f the number f devices that require firmware update. EZPlugger will nt update the firmware f devices that d nt require any update. [Defect 1361] Camera picture is nt displayed until after viewer the camera image via IE. 8 Knwn Issues, Limitatins and Wrkarunds This sectin lists knwn limitatins, issues and defects and, where applicable, prvides ways t wrk arund the prblems. Mre recent versins supersede infrmatin n earlier versins. Versin release Devices Authenticatin EZPlugger cnsiders authenticatin fr a device t have failed if the device did nt respnd r the device replied with a negative acknwledgement. On rare ccasins, the device may nt respnd t authenticatin request and the authenticatin dialg is shwn. If yu knw that the credentials are crrect, press OK withut changing the username and passwrd. The username and passwrd fields are accepted by EZPlugger when yu leave the field either by pressing TAB r ENTER. T authenticate devices, EZPlugger attempts t change the HTTP prt f the devices (using bradcast message). Tests with camera mdels and the crrespnding firmware versins indicate that setting the HTTP prt number t the same number des nt reset the camera web server. Other mechanisms are either intrusive (such as date r netwrk settings) r unreliable (such as bandwidth, which des nt respnd when set t the same value). EZPlugger assumes that credentials are cnsistent n each device. That is, the credentials fr a Level 4 user shuld als be allwed t perfrm firmware update. Hwever, the surveillance devices maintain a separate list f users fr HTTP (and bradcast) cmmands and FTP (used fr firmware update). In the event that the authenticated Level 4 user has n privilege t FTP files t the device, EZPlugger will attempt t use the factry default credentials fr firmware update. Installer [Defect 1386] Running this versin s installer while an lder versin exists will attempt t upgrade EZPlugger. Hwever, the upgrade will fail. As a wrkarund, If yu currently have an lder versin f EZPlugger installed, uninstall it first befre installing this new versin. Uninstalling EZPlugger will NOT delete yur existing site cnfiguratin. 4

9 Others [Defect 1319] Using a machine with HyperThreading (HT) Technlgy CPU can cause EZPlugger t hang. As a wrkarund, disable HyperThreading frm BIOS setup. When running EZPlugger, the hst cmputer must be in the target netwrk envirnment t get the prper netwrk settings. If the hst machine is n multiple netwrks, disable thse nn-target netwrks via Cntrl Panel -> Netwrk Cnnectins. Sme device mdels with a particular firmware versin are knwn t ignre changes t the DNS server addresses using the bradcast methd. In this case, EZPlugger may always cnsider such devices as nt valid fr the netwrk. The devices that exhibit this behavir are: SNC-Z20 versin 1.00 SNT-V501 versin 1.30 Cnsequently, in a statically assign IP address envirnment with n DNS servers, EZPlugger may always believe that these devices are nt cnfigured fr the netwrk and will be assigned a different IP address (if user agrees t change the netwrk settings). As a wrkarund, set devices with the abvementined mdels t factry default r reply N t the dialg that prmpts the user if he/she wishes t change device netwrk settings. In rare cases, sme camera mdels prvide psitive respnse (HTTP status cde in the 200 range) n request t change a setting via HTTP but d nt actually make the change. 5

10 Versin release Supprted Devices This versin supprts the fllwing Sny surveillance device mdels: SNC-RZ30 (versin 2.05) SNC-CS3 (versin 1.03) SNC-Z20 (versin 1.00) SNT-V501 (1.30) SNT-V504 (0.05) Ntes: 1. Mdel SNC-P1 is nt supprted in this release as sme interfaces and prcedures (such as cde upgrade) are nt currently published. 2. IP Mini dme is nt supprted as the hardware and interface dcumentatin are nt available at the time f develpment. 3. MPEG4 PTZ is nt supprted as the hardware and interface dcumentatin are nt available at the time f develpment. These mdels will be supprted in a future maintenance release. Supprted Operating Systems Windws 2000 SP1 r later Windws XP Prfessinal SP1 Nte: The default setting in Windws XP SP2 is knwn t blck incming discvery respnse frm surveillance devices. EZPlugger has nt been fully tested using Windws XP SP2. Camera Viewer The camera viewer image is resized in the EZPlugger s Device Cnfiguratin screen. During image resize, the screen may flicker and the area allcated fr the viewer may shw the resize taking place. On slw netwrks, it is pssible that the viewer may nt be seen in EZPlugger. The camera viewer requires that the image be available befre it can be resized. The time delay between image display and resize is currently set t 500ms. This delay can be changed in ezplugger.ini s ImageResizeDelay key in the Viewer sectin. Printing EZPlugger is cnfigured t print labels n Avery 8860 Clear Inkjet Labels, prviding 3 clumns and 10 rws per sheet. When printing n plain 8 x11 (letter) paper, n brders will be printed. Summary and label printing are tested n HP LaserJet printer. It is pssible that labels and summary printuts may nt have the desired brder widths. In this case, yu may change the values f select keys in ezplugger.ini s Print sectin. These keys are read by EZPlugger each time Print r Print Preview is requested. 6

11 RSM Integratin By default, surveillance devices are nt added int RSM. While EZPlugger can be cnfigured t add devices t RSM during device cnfiguratin, EZPlugger uses the RSM 2.1 API and may actually add devices that already exist in RSM. When adding devices t RSM is enabled, device names cnsisting f nn-ascii characters are shwn in RSM as questin marks (? ). This behavir was bserved n RSM versin 2.1 running n the English versin f Windws. [Defect 1236] When a new site cnfiguratin is created in ffline mde and servers are defined, running Device Cnfiguratin wizard withut exiting EZPlugger first will nt lad the server infrmatin and device-server assignments. As a wrkarund, restart EZPlugger when lading a new site in ffline mde. Netwrking Sme bradband gateway devices (such as Linksys WRT54G) d nt rute UDP between wireless and wired segments. If the EZPlugger hst machine is cnnected t the netwrk via WiFi, devices may nt be discvered. EZPlugger and the surveillance devices must be n the same subnet. This is a limitatin f the device discvery prtcl. If using wireless netwrking, device cnnectivity shuld be prperly cnfigured prir t using EZPlugger. Bth Update Firmware and Replicate Cnfiguratin wizards will change the netwrk settings f the devices t ensure that they are reachable. The netwrk settings f these devices will be restred when the wizard cmpletes. D nt terminate the wizards (including Cnfigure Devices wizard) befre it cmpletes. T fix this prblem, extract the cntents f ezplugger-1_0_0_14-helppatch1.zip t the lcatin where EZPlugger is installed. Device name and serial number must cnsist f 3 t 24 characters. Serial numbers can cnsist f alphabetic (A-Z), numeric (0-9) and dash (-) characters (cnsecutive dashes nt allwed). Characters allwed in a site name are the same characters valid fr a directry name. Cnfigure Devices and Replicate Cnfiguratin wizards will nt prceed if at least ne f the devices has a nn-default authenticatin. As a wrkarund, reset the ffending device(s) t factry default r change the authenticatin using the device s brwser interface. [Defect 1319] Using a machine with Xen prcessr and HyperThreading (HT) Technlgy enabled can cause the Update Firmware wizard t hang. Disabling HT frm the BIOS ptin may wrk but des nt guarantee t slve the prblem. 7

13 Test Envirnment This versin f EZPlugger has been tested n wired netwrk. N firewall is installed n any f the test machines. The EZPlugger hst machine is cnfigured t the target netwrk. Hardware Cnfiguratin EZPlugger has been mainly tested using the fllwing cnfiguratins: Sny FSV-M5 (Netwrk Appliance Server) P4 2.4GHz, 512 MB RAM Windws 2000 Server SP4 Sny VAIO PCV-RS612P P4 2.8GHz, 512MB RAM Windws XP Pr SP1 (HT disabled) Limited testing is als perfrmed n the fllwing cnfiguratins: Whitebx P3 800 MHz, 256MB RAM Windws XP Pr SP1 (Japanese) 9
