Perpetuity recently undertook a piece of research on behalf of the NASUWT to explore the experiences of prejudice related bullying and harassment (PRB) amongst teachers and headteachers in schools. The study involved: a large scale literature review of available sources on prejudice related bullying and harassment of teachers and headteachers an online questionnaire survey of teachers Not only was it apparent that PRB in schools is an under researched area, but that workplace bullying within schools is widespread with two thirds of teachers in the sample reporting that they had experienced this. Yet few schools have or communicate effectively their anti bullying policy for staff. It was also found that many PRB incidents are not reported and that where incidents are reported many teachers are not satisfied with the response of the school. 2 Environment' Bournemouth University has been awarded the Secured Environments accreditation. Through the audit process the University has demonstrated its commitment to six key principles for providing protection against crime: 1) Commitment to create a secure environment 2) Understand the problem 3) Develop a response 4) Manage the response 5) Implement the response/solution 6) Evaluate the response Sandra Baylis, Facilities Manager Soft Services at Bournemouth University, noted: 'Bournemouth University is proud to receive the Secured Environments award, the Soft Services team working within Estates & IT Services have responsibility for security and work very hard to provide a safe and secure environment in which to work and study. This accreditation is recognition of the team's efforts in this respect. The audit highlighted the University's effective processes and management for responding to incidents and reducing crime.' Professor Martin Gill congratulated the University on its achievement highlighting the visible signal it sends to students and prospective students and their parents that the University takes student safety seriously. He noted: 'Increasingly Secured Environments is being seen as the vehicle by which the Higher Education sector is demonstrating that it is committed to providing safe environments for staff and students to work and study. Bournemouth University has met the standard and is the latest in a line of Universities that has shown the commitment necessary to achieve the increasingly prestigious Secured Environments Award.' Martin also Chaired the Retail Fraud Conference in London on 14 th April where Perpetuity had a stand.
