9 Our students Bhavin Patel - New Zealand BTEC HND in Vehicle Operations Management Bhavin is an aspiring automotive engineer, and chose to study BTEC HND in Vehicle Operations Management as it would be a useful qualification wherever he wants to work around the world. The added bonus of living in London, and the glowing references of family and friends who studied here, made his decision to join CNWL a simple one. Very pleased with his course, Bhavin says: The course trains you in the right methods and teaches you all the tools you need to become successfully self-employed. In College for two days a week, Bhavin s Youth Mobility Scheme Visa allows him to work for the remainder of his week at the Central Mobile garage in Harlesden, so that he can put into practice the skills he s learned at college. I ve always been interested in cars, and CNWL is preparing me for a career which will hopefully lead to owning my own garage in the future. Zainab Kazeem - Nigeria HND in Computing and System Development Zainab studied for her HND in Computing and System Development with us. When she moved to the UK, she was impressed with the opportunities available at CNWL and how helpful the staff were. She told us: I really appreciate the quality of the teaching at CNWL. The staff have been really helpful both with the academic and vocational elements of the course, organising various workshops and trips to help us understand the practical side of the industry. I have made good friends in the college, and there is never a dull moment in class! Zainab aims to become a Database Analyst and feels the course equipped her with the skills she needs to put her on the path to success.
10 Jhonny Enoe Guyana Former Welding & Fabrication, now a tutor Jhonny is a living embodiment of our motto Success Starts Here. Having come over to London on holiday he was told about CNWL by his friends and family, and in his own words when you get a good opportunity, you take it. Nine years later, Jhonny is a Welding & Fabrication Lecturer, a cornerstone of the College s School of Engineering and a successful property developer, with a portfolio spread around the world. Having come over in 2005 to study, Jhonny maintained a 100% attendance record throughout his 3 years studying at the college, all the while working for John Lewis, as an architectural welder. Jhonny s favourite part of the course was the interaction and teamwork, where he believed he learned better by exchanging ideas and making sense of complicated theories. Jhonny had plenty of praise for the International Students Department, who are there to help any international students with any problems or issues they may have. He believes that they bridge the gap between home and here, in order to help you feel most welcome and take pride in helping you become a well-rounded person. Having grown leaps and bounds through his course, Jhonny gives this piece of advice for new students, Pay attention to the journey, not the qualification. If you have a good journey, the results will follow. Rajiv Udhin - Mauritius BTEC National Diploma in Construction and Electrical Installation Rajiv came to CNWL originally to study an electronics course. Enjoying the college and achieving success on the course, he progressed to complete the National Diploma in Construction and Electrical Installation. Rajiv told us: I had a good rapport with the tutors, and they took the time to talk to all the students individually. They have always provided good advice and feedback and helped me do really well in each module Rajiv aims to become a Building Engineer, and appreciates how his courses at CNWL have opened up so many opportunities, and provided him with the skills to help him progress to University and achieve his goals.
11 When I talk about CNWL, I always say this is my College I feel relaxed and comfortable here because I have all the support I need Jayasri, Sri Lanka What next?
