1 MEDITERRANEAN INSTITUTE FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH The International MBA in Corporate Security Management (IMBASM) Distance Learning
2 Module Content Modules: Aims and Objectives Mandatory Modules SS247M1: Security: Strategic Management and analysis Effective business decisions and management are dependent on widespread and current information regarding an organisation s strategic position. This module seeks to widen the student's perspective and understanding of the principles of strategic management and introduces a variety of analytical models of strategic analysis and strategy formulation to examine Security Management. Students will explore the pros and cons of strategic choices and consider the impact and consequences of strategy implementation across the organisation. SS247M2: Security: Management and Leadership This module aims to teach participants the strategic organisation-wide principles of security management, risk identification and assessment. This module concentrates on high level managerial perspectives. The module will be delivered through distance learning and reinforced by work on case studies that will include the systematic development of security management strategies and documentation in accordance with current international standards. SS247M3: Security: Financial Accounting and Decision Making The primary objective of this module is to develop a student s ability to fully understand the accounting, financial and economic implications of security. Students will interpret and use financial information, within the strategic framework of a business, to better appreciate and analyse the consequences arising from breaches in security. It is oriented toward the nonspecialist and will provide the foundational knowledge required to understand the financial relevance of security. The first half of the module equips students with the foundational knowledge and practical tools for assessing financial performance and economic conditions of an organisation. Here the emphasis will be on utilising financial reports of real-world public companies. The second half of the course introduces a systematic approach to analysing the financial impact of a crime on organisations.
3 SS247M4 Security: Human Resource Management, The purpose of this module is to develop a critical view of behaviour in organisations in relation to security and Human Resources. The module will present an evidence-based view of key issues within organisational behaviour, review the dynamics of security, and critically evaluate the potential contribution of OB to security effectiveness and efficiency. SS247M5 Security: Marketing Principles and Crisis Communications This module is intended for those students with some work experience who want to understand the importance, value, and management of corporate reputation, as well as the role communications play in crisis and reputation management. The strength of an organisation s reputation represents the way in which a complex range of stakeholders perceive the organisation. Gaps can open between these perceptions and the way an organisation intends to be seen; this is particularly the case when normal operations are disrupted due to security breaches and security incidents and resulting crisis management activities. This can result in serious organisational changes including destabilisation, financial difficulties, leadership change, and fall in market valuation. This module explores two key themes around corporate reputation, and management of communications in times of crisis, to help to minimise the gaps in perception and to manage the organisation s corporate reputation SS247M6 Enterprise Security Risk Management This module focuses on Enterprise Security Risk assessment. Provides an introduction to the underlying principles of the management of risk as well as developing an understanding of contingency planning and crisis management issues. Risk assessment and evaluation An introduction to statistics and crime analysis Contingency planning Crisis management Product contamination and extortion Employee screening, alcohol and drug abuse

Students will develop comprehensive understanding of the legal, policy and technical approaches that are necessary to mitigate such risks. Detailed coverage of various security technologies will enable students to gain a critical awareness of the latest problems and best practices in the design of secure architectures.
