2 Ope Chael Flow System Level Istrumetatio The OCF5000 is desiged to measure flows form simple ope chael flow to complete system studies. I additio to moitorig flowrate i sewage works, the meter ca moitor idustrial discharge, raifall/storm water studies, iflow/ifiltratio studies ad sewer system evaluatios. The programmed head versus flow rate curve (up to 16 poits) accurately defies flow rate o uique or o stadard weirs ad flumes. The meter has i built data loggig ad is adjustable from oce per miute to oce a day. OCF5000 records the average flow rate for that time period. Daily, it records the mi/max of temperature ad flow rates ad the time they occurred, as well as the daily total. Advaced fuctios iclude variable rate loggig. 3 The Ope Chael Flow System is a electroic istrumet desiged to measure flow i ope chaels. It is housed i a polycarboate eclosure ad comes with a remote programmer. As a system, it is used i cojuctio with a remote ultrasoic trasducer (or auxiliary head measuremet device) ad a temperature sesor. The System trasmits a pulse sigal to the trasducer ad is the sesed by the trasducer. The time for a pulse to echo back from the water surface is the sesed by the trasducer. The time for the pulse to echo back from the water surface is temperature compesated ad coverted ito a measuremet of head. The associated setpoit uits are: % of chage of maximum flowrate per miute, % of maximum flowrate, ad % of maximum head respectively. The setpoits represet the absolute value of the rate of chage. The flow rate is totalized ad stored i a comprehesive data log for detailed flow aalysis. Our flexible programmig allows the operator to select the flow calculatio specific to the primary device (flume, weir or pipe). We have cocetrated o providig the most accurate flow calculatios possible. This is why the calculatios provided have bee writte to comply with the British Stadards Istitute specificatio BS These routies calculate correctio factors takig ito accout secod order effects such as approach velocity ad boudary layer. A Uiversal flow calculatio is provided for uique applicatios outside of our 20 stadard formulas provided. Flow data is logged i ½ % icremets from 0 to 100% of maximum flow. Flows above 110% are logged as 110%. Oce the log is filled, the old data will be successfully writte over with the ew data beig logged. Memory Durig a power iterruptio, the memory backup will hold the programmig, the log ad totalizer values ad ru the clock. The memory battery provides up to oe year of memory retetio. Loggig The system provides a extesive loggig feature, which ca be viewed o the local display or retrieved via the serial commuicatio lik. The loggig rate ca be fixed or variable offerig you complete flexibility. The coditio for variable loggig is determied whe selectig the loggig rate. The optio loggig rate coditios ca be rate of chage of flow, percet of maximum flow or percetage of maximum head. Loggig occurs at the ormal rate while the coditios are less tha the setpoit. If the coditio exceeds the log rapid setpoit, the rapid rate of chage takes effect util the coditio falls below the log ormal setpoit. 3

4 Software The OFC Software allows remote access to view readigs ad modify cofiguratio parameters. It ca also export summaries ad data to Excel. This easy to use widows-based software ca prit daily or mothly reports Additioally, the meter provides serial commuicatios for remote programmig, data log retrieval ad prit out for devices such as computers, PLC s ad priters. 12 Temperature Sesor - TS-2 The TS-2 Temperature sesor is part of the Ope Chael Flow ad used with the OCF5000 to moitor the temperature of the air betwee the trasducer ad the target surface. The TS-2 cosists of a passive circuit which varies its resistace liearly with temperature. Thus it is used as the temperature iput to the compesatio circuitry of the associated ABB trasceiver.
