6 PROGRAM STRUCTURE Module 1 Getting Across Module 1 focuses on presenting the latest practical techniques and models in the fields of communication, leadership and negotiations, which will allow global leaders to get their message across internally and externally. The facilitators of this module will bring an extensive practical experience and international exposure that offer great insights and knowledge. 1.Leadership by Tommy Weir Leadership is not a copy-and-paste recipe; a successful leader has to adapt his leadership style to accommodate cultural and contextual differences and circumstances. Weir has advised and offered consultations to many organizations worldwide and has developed a practical guide for leadership in the Middle East that will be the basis of discussion with participants to elaborate on leadership styles and ways to adapt. Managing Diversity in the Global Organization by Celia De Anca Diversity is a dilemma that faces all organizations seeking to expand globally. Taming diversity can uncover enormous benefits and opportunities for business leaders to propel their organizations to the next level. 7 Module 2 Global Money Module 3 Market-Maker or Share-Taker? Module 2 aims at providing a glimpse of the global macroeconomic and financial indicators essential for doing business globally. It builds on the participants existing knowledge and experience and will be conducted in an open discussion forum format where the experts will facilitate discussions raised by the executives. 1. Global Economics The global economy is going through severe uncertainty swings with the slowing down of China's growth, the serious challenges facing the European Union under its current structure, and the US economy's alarm at the Federal Reserve's shift from rescue policies to counter inflation. Meanwhile, emerging markets are warily watching this uncertainty unfold with serious ramifications to their growth prospects. What does this mean to global corporations, how should they interpret the signals coming out of these hot spots, and how to react appropriately? Are you innovative enough to go global? Can you compete internationally and create new value to global customers? This module is all about innovation and creativity in developing a business model that can cross borders. Business Models: Innovation to build, deliver and capture value by Saul Kaplan Kaplan shares the underlying principles of business model innovation. How can you develop a sound innovative value proposition and be able to deliver it consistently. Cases and examples of innovative models will be discussed and you will have the opportunity to share your ideas, seek input and suggestions. Navigating the Financial Sphere by Jaap Spronk This session will address the importance of understanding the role monetary policy plays in determining market entry and mode of operations. It tackles issues related to understanding the dynamics and options related to sourcing financing for cross border expansion. It also evaluates means of market entry through mergers, acquisitions or other forms.
8 Reflections (afternoon delights) This component of the program will be conducted over dinner, where participants will read one of the theories and reflect on it through their own experiences through guided facilitation by senior business leaders from Egypt. Follow up The School of Business Executive Education will provide support to the program participants by offering one follow up session to be conducted at the AUC premises on January 17, This follow up will provide executives with the opportunity to share their experiences in implementing their action plans and capitalize on their collective knowledge. 9 Bruce Weinstein President and CEO The Ethics Guy, LLC Enlightening, inspiring and entertaining, Bruce Weinstein, The Ethics Guy, shows leaders in business, health care, law, accounting, and education why character is the missing link to excellence and how to hire and promote people of high character. He writes an online column for FORTUNE twice a week and is the author of the books Ethical Intelligence: Five Principles for Untangling Your Toughest Problems at Work and Beyond, Is It Still Cheating If I Don t Get Caught? and The Good Ones: Ten Crucial Qualities of High-Character Employees His work has been featured in USA Today, The New York Times and American Airlines in-flight magazine. He received a bachelor's degree in philosophy from Swarthmore College, a PhD in philosophy and bioethics from Georgetown University, and a National Fellowship in Leadership Development from the W. K. Kellogg Foundation in Battle Creek, Michigan.
10 Celia De Anca Director, Centre for Diversity in Global Management IE Business School Celia De Anca is currently the Director of the Centre for Diversity in Global Management at IE Business School and the Saudi-Spanish Centre for Islamic Economics and Finance at IE Business School. She was previously the Director of Corporate Programmes at the Euro-Arab Management School (EAMS) in Granada, Spain. She has also worked for the Fundación Cooperación Internacional y Promoción Ibero-América Europa (CIPIE) and at the International Division of Banco de Santander. She has a master s degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in Boston and from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. She holds a PhD from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, with a comparative thesis on Islamic, ethical/ecological investment funds and on the London Market. She is the author of Beyond Tribalism: Managing Identities in a Diverse World, and co-author of Managing Diversity in the Global Organization: Creating New Business Values. She has had articles published in specialized journals, in addition to publishing periodic articles in the press. She was an external advisor of the Merrill Lynch s Diversity & Inclusion Council up to 2009.She is a member of the Ethics Committee of InverCaixa s Ethics Fund, Spain and a member of the International Scientific Committee at the University Euromed in Marseille, France. She has received the Woman Executive of the Year Award in 2008 by the Business Women Association of Madrid (ASEME). De Anca is fluent in Spanish, English, French and Arabic and was listed on the 2013 s Thinkers50, a global ranking of management thinkers.
11 Jaap Spronk Professor of Financial Management Science Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University Jaap Spronk is (emeritus) full professor of financial management science of Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM). Prior to joining RSM in 2008, where he was academic dean of MBA programmes until 2014, he served as the vice-dean of international new business development from 2003 to 2008, director of studies from 2003 to 2007, director division of accounting and finance from 1996 to 2003, and chairman of the Department of Finance from 1984 to 2003 at the Erasmus School of Economics, where he was full professor of finance and investment since Being fluent in Dutch, English, French, German and Italian, Spronk has assumed professorships at numerous foreign universities, including Bocconi University in Milan, Italy, and has held visiting professorships at the Helsinki School of Economics in Finland, the University of Bergamo and the University of Catania in Italy, and the State University of New York at Buffalo, USA. He has served as an editor or numerous journals, including managing editor of the Springer Series in Financial Modelling. Spronk is founder (1986) and was chairman of the EURO Working Group on Financial Modelling. He has been a member of the Koninklijke Hollandsche Maatschappij der Wetenschappen (Royal Dutch Society of Sciences) since His international awards include the Umbra Erasmi Medal of Erasmus University in 1996, Gold Medal of the University of Crete in Greece in 1996, Gold Medal of the International Society of Multiple Criteria Decision Making in 2002, and The President s Award of the EURO Association in Since 2015, Spronk is CEO of GEMFM Global Inc. based in NY, USA. He also holds a part-time Professorship at the University of Curacao. Spronk is in the Board of various Companies and Not-for Profit Organizations, and is advisor to Investors, Corporates and Governmental organizations.
12 Richard D. Lewis Chair Richard Lewis Communications Richard D. Lewis is Chair of Richard Lewis Communications and one of Britain s foremost linguists. Lewis is well known for his work on cross-cultural understanding. He wrote the book When Cultures Collide: Managing Successfully Across Cultures, now in its third edition, and gives cross-cultural seminars and keynote speeches to international corporations, as well as governments. Clients include UBS, Coca Cola, Deloitte, Gazprom, Nokia, Unilever and the World Bank. Lewis has also been awarded a knighthood in Finland, in view of his 40 years experience in helping Finland to develop its international links, including assisting Finland in its preparation for the European Union presidency.
13 Saul Kaplan Founder and Chief Catalyst Business Innovation Factory Saul Kaplan is the founder and Chief Catalyst of the Business Innovation Factory and author of The Business Model Innovation Factory. Kaplan started BIF in 2005 with a mission to enable collaborative innovation. The nonprofit is creating a real world laboratory for innovators to explore and test new business models and system level solutions in areas of high social importance including healthcare, education, entrepreneurship, and energy independence. Prior to focusing on business model and system level innovation at the Business Innovation Factory Kaplan served as the Executive Director of the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation and as the Executive Counselor to the Governor on Economic and Community Development. Kaplan created Rhode Island s unique scale economic development strategy aimed at increasing the state s capacity to grow and support an innovation economy, including an effort to turn the state s compact geography and close knit public and private sector networks into a competitive advantage. Prior to his state leadership role in economic development Kaplan served as a Senior Strategy Partner in Accenture s Health & Life-Science practice and worked broadly throughout the pharmaceutical, medical products, and biotechnology industry. Kaplan also spent eight years working for the Pharmaceutical Division of Eli Lilly and Company. As a Marketing Plans Manager, Kaplan assisted in developing the launch strategy and successful introduction of Prozac into the U.S. market. Kaplan shares his innovation musings on Twitter (@skap5), his blog (It s Saul Connected) and as a regular contributor to the Harvard Business Review, Fortune and Bloomberg Business Week. Kaplan holds an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute focusing on the strategic management of technology and a BS in Pharmacy from the University of Rhode Island.

16 CERTIFICATION A certificate of attendance from AUC s School of Business Executive Education will be granted to participants who attend the full program. ADMISSION PROCESS Knowledge of English language is essential, as the program will be conducted in English. Admission is based on merit and work experience of executives. The program committee shall evaluate all applications based on their work experience, academic knowledge, and intended impact and implementation in the organization.
