For a better understanding of this large field, the lecture starts with a comprehensive introduction of the relationship between globalization, corporate finance and corporate governance. In a first step, the nature of the three major financial statements will be presented and analyzed. Afterwards, students will get an insight into the techniques of financial analysis whereas a special focus is put at the riskreturn relation. The lecture finishes with a presentation of the most frequently mobilized investment decision rules and the possibilities to compare projects with respect to the offered value creation. UE Fundamentals of international taxation This lecture aims to expose students to the principal elements of the field of international fiscal taxation. After an introduction into the main mechanisms of international income taxation, the lecture presents the world contemporary tax system. In a second step, the growing importance of MNE in international market and finance will be examined. The lecture finishes with a presentation of the tax haven and OFCs, and will focus on the risks linked to financial markets. UE Introduction into corporate information systems This lecture aims to expose students to the growing role of information systems in business and organizations. After an introduction, the lecture explains how information systems can create a competitive advantage for companies. Issues such as business intelligence, strategic use of information systems, business models on the Internet, as well as the management of collaborative technologies, will be exposed and discussed regarding their respective effectiveness and pervasiveness. UE International Negotiation This course provides an overview of negotiation theories and practices of international importance bilateral, regional and multilateral (to understand what drives negotiation process and explains the outcome, why do some negotiations succeed, while others keep failing, functions of prenegotiation, secondtrack diplomacy and postagreement negotiations concerned with implementation and compliance. Among the themes covered in the course are the role of power, leadership, ethics, information technology and nongovernmental organizations. 16 3,00 ENGLISH
2 UE Advanced Cost Accounting and Internal Control This lecture aims at exposing the students to the principal tools of both management control (costs and key performance indicators, budgets and business plans, variances analysis, management charts & scoreboard balance) and internal control (efficient control structures, international norms). After a short recall of existing costing systems as well as the link between cost calculation and managerial decision making, students will be introduced to the field of management accounting and control in the day to day business of a firm as well as the major evolutions of management control over time. The second part of the lecture will be based both on a presentation of the internal control procedure and their practical implementation. UE Introduction to Entrepreneurship Students will have the opportunity to apply their entire business education and experience to a very practical, handson project. They will be working in small teams and will research the market for the product or service, prepare marketing, sales, development and operations plans and make financial projections. They will take a handson approach and are expected to interact with the business community, be able to work effectively in teams and be active participants in classroom discussions. UE Financial Management of Crossborder Projects ( Lean Management/ project planning methodology) This lecture aims to expose students to the principal elements of lean management and introduce students to the principal mechanisms and tools needed for managing a business project.
