The Executive Director is also responsible for supporting centers of excellence, newly formed colleges, and schools, infusing technology into evolving instructional strategies and guiding institutional priorities Interim Vice Provost for Faculty and Organization Development: Professor Library Administration (tenured) and Honorary Professor, Department of Communication The Vice Provost for Faculty and Organizational Development position was responsible for providing leadership for the Main campus and support to the Provost for issues related to faculty and academic resources that provide an enriched learning environment. The Faculty Administrative portfolio contained responsibilities for reviewing Academic personnel appointments, leaves, promotion and tenure; Academic personnel policies: patterns of administration / promotion and tenure documents; faculty hiring assistance program for recruitment and retention of underrepresented faculty; faculty development and junior faculty development programs within each College; Academic leadership development, training and mentoring; Department chair development; oversight of Online Learning (Distance Learning), Academic Support, Center for Teaching and Learning, Memorial Field House Education Incubator; planning and utilization of academic space and facilities; coordination of searches for and evaluation of Deans, Directors, Assistant Vice Provosts, and Vice Provosts; Academic Affairs representative to committees on faculty issues. The Vice Provost was also involved in assisting the Provost in all aspects of academic affairs, including academic budgeting and strategic planning Dean of Libraries, elearning, and Academic Support: Professor Library Administration (tenured) and Honorary Professor, Department of Communication The Dean s position was as a Faculty Administrator position with instructional responsibilities in the Department of Communication teaching Information Gathering and Reporting Methods courses. Administrative responsibilities included administrative reviews and recommendations for both tenure and promotion for Library Faculty; administration of University Libraries comprised of Main Campus, Health Science Campus, Scott Park Campus Libraries;

3 Academic Support Services for all campuses; the elearning division (Online Learning operations and online learning enrollment management) ; and Instructional Design Services for all campuses. The administrative portfolio also included responsibilities for the design and construction of the Information Commons, Mulford Health Science Library renovation, the Blackboard Learning Management System, strategic planning, information literacy instructional assessment, budgeting, fundraising, the Canaday Center for special collections, and University Archives. William Paterson University - Wayne, NJ 1996 to 2002 Associate Vice President Academic Affairs, Chief Information Officer (Clo) and Professor (tenured): The position was a Faculty Administrator position serving as ClO, which included a dual tenured appointment as Professor in Department of Communications and Professor of the Library, with teaching responsibilities for communication research foundations courses. This position was responsible for reviews and recommendations for both tenure and promotion. Administration of the Cheng Library, teaching and learning faculty development, instructional design services, Distance Learning support services, WebCT LMS System, satellite uplink and downlink operations for all of Higher Education in the State of New Jersey, Information Research and Technology (academic computing and research computing), overseeing migration from SCT Plus to Banner Migration for Finance (FRS), Student (SIS), Financial Aid (FAIvI), and Human Resources (HRS) Information Technology leadership responsibilities included the Division of Information Systems (administrative computing and systems administration)and the Division of Network and Hardware Services. Administrative responsibilities included teaching and learning strategic planning, information technology strategic planning, and fundraising ($1 million Cheng Library naming gift). An additional responsibility included leading the creation and formation of the Virtual Academic Library Environment consortium for New Jersey Higher Education (VALE)and serving as Executive Director of the consortium. Mississippi State University - Starkville, MS 1991 to 1996 Dean of Libraries and Professor (tenured): The Dean s portfolio included serving as a Faculty Administrator with doctoral dissertation committee member and minor advisor responsibilities for the Department of Educational Leadership in the College of Education. Administrative responsibilities included administrative reviews and recommendations for both tenure and promotion. Administration of University Libraries included the Mitchell Memorial Library, the Architecture Library, and the

4 College of Veterinary Medicine Library. The Dean s position was responsible for management of faculty and support staff personnel, facilities design and construction, strategic planning, automated systems and budgets, and working with the Office of Research on EPSC0R and SUR Digital Dissertations, Theses, and Technical Report initiatives. Fund raising responsibilities included $3.3 million. Facilities planning responsibilities included the design and construction of 160,000 sq. ft addition to Mitchell Memorial Library, redesign of the College of Veterinary Medicine Library, and the School of Architecture Library. Radford University - Radford, VA University Librarian and Associate Professor: Faculty rank of Associate Professor in College of Education teaching graduate courses and serving as a member of the Graduate Faculty. The position was responsible for administration of library services, fund raising, CLSI library computer systems, development of CD ROM Novell network, and educational media services. Oversight of strategic planning, facilities planning and design for 80,000 sq. ft. addition to McConnell Library, developing automated library systems, microcomputer systems, and CD-ROM applications. University service included serving as Chair of the University s Strategic Planning Committee. This position also served as liaison with University Foundation for fund raising. Northeastern Illinois University - Chicago, IL Director of Library and Media Services and Associate Professor: Administration of library operations on multiple campuses and library computer systems. Administrative responsibilities included tenure and promotion recommendations, budget planning and justification, fund raising, strategic planning, development of automated systems and microcomputer applications. Clayton State College - Morrow, GA Library Director and Assistant Professor: Responsible for administration of library services, academic resources, and teaching COMM-loll (freshman writing course) North Shore Community College - Beverly, MA Director of Learning Resources and Assistant Professor: Responsibilities included administration of library services for multi campuses, development of library-automated systems, facilities planning for two new libraries, grant writing, and teaching ENG-102 (freshman writing course). Oversight of planning
