1 428 Capstan Court Arnold, MD Office: ( ) Cell: ( ) ADMINISTRATIVE EXPERIENCE Vice President for Learning Anne Arundel Community College, Arnold, MD June 2013 Present Anne Arundel Community College is a nationally recognized leader among community colleges as evidenced by its recognition as a member of the Board of the League for Innovation in the Community College, is one of the Great Colleges to work for, and a member of the Achieving the Dream initiative. The Division of Learning has a deep commitment to student learning and success and is responsible for all academic programs including credit, non-credit and contract training; education partnerships; the Sarbanes Center; and all on-line courses that serve approximately 53,000 students annually on campus and in Centers. The Division is comprised of Learning Advancement and Virtual Campus, Arts and Sciences, Health Professions, Wellness and Physical Educaiton, Continuing and Professional Studies, the Center for Cyber and Homeland Security Technology and Joint Ventures, and Business Education Partnerships. Primary responsibilities are to serve as a member of the Presidents/Vice Presidents team, Learning Response Team, Academic Council, Academic Forum, Strategic Planning Council, chair the Council of Instructional Deans, co-chaire the Enrollment Planning and Management Team, and attend the Board of Trustees meetings. My responsibilities also include ensuring professional development opportunities, develop and implement budgets, program and course assessment programs, hiring, mentoring and evaluating employees. The Division of Learning is committed to the achievement of Student Success 2020 designed around the student completion agenda. Vice President, Academic and Student Affairs August 2005 June 2013 Middlesex County College, Edison, NJ Academic and Student Affairs comprises four divisions, two outreach centers, the First Year Experience Program, and Institutional Research. The faculty and staff are organized into four divisions: Enrollment and Student Support Services, Coporate and Community Education, Professional Studies and Arts and Sciences, serving 13,000 credit and 10,000 non-credit students with an annual operating budget of $36 million. Primary responsibilities are to serve as a member of the Cabinet and Executive Council, Middlesex County College Foundation Board, Dental Hygiene Advisory Board, Nursing Advisory Board, attend the Board of Trustees meetings, and Chair the Deans Council, Leaders Council and other meetings designed to achieve the Colleges mission, goals and strategic plan. Responsibilities also include the development of new academic programs and services, provide professional development opportunities; hire, supervise and evaluate employees; develop and implement both operational and capital budgets, and ensure optimum facilities to support academic and support services. Accomplishments include a major reorganization of the divisions and the general education program, and implementation of the First Year Experience, Summer Bridge Programs, College Assessment program, the Honors Program, and the Learning Center, Dean, Academic Affairs May 2003 August 2005 Miami Dade College The Academic Affairs division on the Kendall Campus of Miami Dade College comprises 205 full-time faculty, 140 full-time administrative and support staff, and over 600 part time faculty and staff; has an annual unduplicated headcount of over 62,000 credit and non-credit students, and has an annual budget of approximately $25,000,000. Primary responsibilities are to serve on the President s Council; guide the development of new programs and courses in credit and non-credit programs; promote the continuous analysis and evaluation of enrollment and student progress and success factors; ensure professional growth

2 and training opportunities for faculty and staff; provide forums for discussions of issues in higher education and campus educational needs; Chair the Campus Academic and Student Support Council and serve on the College Council; hire, supervise and evaluate personnel; allocate fiscal resources to provide optimum support for classrooms, support centers, and labs; produce and implement grants; overseeing the School of Business and the School of Community Education programs and services for all campuses and implementing advisory committees; coordinate the math discipline activities for all campuses of the College; serve on college and campus committees. Vice Provost, Education Policy, Programs and Analysis July 1999 May 2003 Education Policy, Programs and Analysis comprises the Office of Education, Workforce Development, International Education, Grants, Student Services Programs, School and College Relations, and Institutional Research. Primary responsibility was to serve the Miami Dade College district by coordinating the development and evaluation of new academic programs and services for students; developing and implementing the College s Strategic Plan, serving as chair of the steering committee, and providing regular reports to the District Board of Trustees and college community; serving on the College s Executive Committee; attending the District Board of Trustees meetings; coordinating the development of articulation agreements; providing analysis of legislation and assisting with the development of responses to legislative initiatives; responding to requests from the State of Florida for information and data; ensuring college compliance with requirements of the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and providing assistance to campus departments for program accreditations, and representing Miami Dade College with local, regional and State organizations. Interim Provost March, 1999 February 2001 New World School of the Arts (NWSA) NWSA is a unique partnership among Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Miami-Dade Community College, and the University of Florida. NWSA, governed by an Executive Board and a Foundation Board, awards high school diplomas, the Associate in Arts degree, Bachelor s of Music and Bachelor s of Fine Arts degrees. Over 460 high school students and 325 college students were enrolled in dance, music, theater and visual arts programs. Primary responsibilities were to ensure the accomplishment of the mission, goals and daily operations of NWSA. Specific responsibilities included serving as secretary to the Executive Board and Foundation Board; chairing the Operations Committee, composed of representatives of the partner institutions; serving on the College s Executive Committee; attending the District Board of Trustees meetings; assisting with the development of a strategic plan; producing recruitment, retention and scholarship plans; hiring, supervising, and evaluating personnel; overseeing the curriculum review process; ensuring the effective development, implementation and monitoring of fiscal resources; and maintaining effective communication with all personnel. Director, Employee Relations February March 1999 District Office of Human Resources, Miami Dade College Served as a consultant to College administrators, supervisors, faculty and staff regarding the interpretation of College policies and procedures, and the resolution of matters relating to employee performance. Primary responsibilities included resolving confidential employee grievances; working with and responding to external agencies regarding federal and State compliance issues, working with the Legal Affairs department and outside counsel to address matters of employment law; developing and revising College policies and procedures; providing guidance to implement programs and services in response to changing legislation and institutional need; directing employee hiring and out placement activities; and assessing academic credentials. Program Manager August 1995-February 1996

3 Member of a team that analyzed, interpreted and recommended response to significant legislative initiatives that dealt with the College Level Academic Skills Test (CLAST), exit from College Preparatory education, and time-to-degree articulation efforts. Primary responsibilities included coordinating the initial design of the Education Review Project that revised general education degree requirements and streamlined student progression through academic programs; working with College and campus leadership to implement SACS recommendations; and writing the College response to the SACS report. Director, Institutional Self-Study January August, 1995 Successfully guided the College to re-accreditation by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Primary responsibilities included designing the organizational structure and coordinating the selection of more than 100 committee and focus group members; developing and monitoring a three year budget in excess of $1,000,000; developing and ensuring adherence to the implementation calendar; and developing and monitoring action plans to evaluate all programs and services at the College and recommend future initiatives. Specific activities included interpreting SACS criteria to College and campus leadership; developing and writing manuals and handbooks; training committee chairs and members; and coordinating the production of all Self-Study reports. Associate Dean, Career Planning and Advisement January 1987-January 1993 Primary responsibilities included providing direction, supervision and management for the Advisement and Counseling Department, the Career Resource Center, Disabled Student Services, Job Placement, Student Services Minority Programs, the Testing Department, and Transcript Evaluation. Assistant Dean, Student Services September 1984-January 1987 Responsible for planning, developing, implementing and monitoring division budgets; implementing and conducting student disciplinary procedures; managing and supervising the Campus Health Clinic; coordinating programs and services of the Career Planning and Advisement Division, Financial Aid Office, Health Clinic, the Registrar s Office, and Student Activities for approximately 30,000 students. Faculty Chairperson, Advisement and Counseling Department October1981-September,1984 Directed, managed and supervised all programs and services of the Advisement and Counseling Department, Faculty Chairperson, Advisement Services May 1979-October 1981 Medical Center Campus, Miami Dade College Directed advisement, student graduation, transcript evaluations and transfer articulation activities for the Advisement Services Department Full-time staff and part-time positions November 1974-May 1979 North Campus, Miami Dade College Served as a full-time staff member for three years.
