2 Experience Overview Clayton State University Interim Provost Initiated task force to review summer enrollment and scheduling procedures in response to three year decline in enrollments. Task force includes faculty, administrators, and budget office. Created committee of faculty and advisors to develop centralized advisement center and improved support for students. Worked with Deans to further development of degree proposals for health care, entertainment and sports management, film and media production, performing arts, and birth 5 education. Co-chaired EDGE initiative to increase internship and career exploration opportunities for Clayton State students. These types of active learning experience have been shown to increase student success and increase community engagement. Worked with advisors to implement the Student Success Collaborative, an advising tool that uses predictive analytics and data-driven curriculum analyses to increase student success. Facilitated the university-wide adoption of Astra to optimize space utilization and data-driven course scheduling. Worked with Academic Affairs staff to develop budget for FY16. Off-Campus Sites Opened Clayton State s first full-service, off-campus instructional site in Fayette County o Increased non-duplicated enrollment of Fayette County from fewer than 40 students in 2007 to over 500 students currently. o Wrote five proposals for external degrees that were approved by the Board of Regents for the Fayette County site. o Worked closely with offices across campus to provide services to the Fayette County site: Department chairs course scheduling and faculty recruitment Business and Operations annual budget, lease and facilities management Student Affairs campus life, career services, counseling and disability services Enrollment Management admissions, financial aid, orientation and CSU 1022 External Relations advertising and government relations Auxiliary Services - bookstore, vending and printing Continuing Education course scheduling and site support Public Safety regular review of safety procedures Academic Affairs SACS and Board of Regent s Approval o Represented Clayton State at community events and by serving on committees such as the Government Affairs Committee, CTAE Advisory Board, and the College and Career Academy Committee. Served on the task force that created the Academy for Advanced Studies in Henry County. o Non-duplicated enrollment in Henry County courses increased from fewer than 10 students in 2011 to current enrollment of 60+ students. o Currently serving on the Academy Board of Directors. o Served on Henry County Education and Economics Task Force ( ). Distance Learning Served on 2001 SACS substantive change committee. Responsible for reviewing general education courses and developing website with links to documentation. Worked as a Faculty Mentor in the Faculty Instructional Development Lab ( ). Assisted faculty in developing and modifying online courses.
3 Assisted academic departments with developing online BAS and Integrative Studies degree programs. These were Clayton State s first 100% online programs. In addition to supporting the design, I worked with others to receive Board of Regents and SACS approval. Oversaw development of the Office of Distance Learning which now supports seven 100 percent online degree programs. Dual-enrollment Worked with staff, enrollment management, and academic departments to increase dualenrollment from 87 students to 530 since Collaborated with Office of Admissions to improve processing of dual-enrollment applications. Worked cooperatively with Orientation Office to develop separate orientation program for dualenrolled students. International Led nine study abroad trips to England, France, and Italy. The Italy study abroad course has included more students than any other Clayton State study abroad program. Worked with colleges to relationship with Daejeon College of Health Sciences. o Supported summer program for 15 Korean nursing students o Signed new MOU for College of Business exchange Provided support for faculty visiting India, Cameroon, South Korea, and India. Curriculum development Wrote BS in Criminal Justice degree proposal that was approved by the BOR (2001). o Criminal Justice is the seventh largest major at Clayton State with 220 students in o As coordinator ( ) I hired faculty, scheduled courses, developed curriculum, and advised students. Wrote BS in Sociology degree proposal that was approved by the BOR (2006). o There are currently 87 sociology majors. o As coordinator ( ) I hired faculty, scheduled courses, developed curriculum, and advised students. Assisted in development of online BAS concentrations in Aviation Administration and Homeland Security. Promoted Diversity Record of hiring diverse faculty as coordinator for criminal justice and sociology. As AVP, hired racially diverse staff for off-campus sites, dual-enrollment program, and distance learning. Worked with Henry County schools to provide transportation for underrepresented student populations. Taught Cultural Concepts for teacher education majors from 1995 to The focus of this course was to prepare future middle grades teachers with the knowledge and skills needed to promote multicultural diversity. Authored marriage and family textbooks that consistently highlight multicultural perspectives. Currently working with Fayette County schools to offer on-site dual-enrollment courses in high schools that have a higher proportion of minority students who lack transportation.
4 Honors Program Increased enrollment in Honors Program from 56 students to 112 students from 2005 to Created opportunity for qualified transfers and junior year students to apply for Honors Program admission. Balanced budget for Honors scholarship program that had run a deficit the three previous years. Created university-wide Honors council that resulted in greater participation from Colleges of Business, Health, and CIMS. Developed Honors Contract courses and research projects so that curriculum was expanded from two-years to four-years (previously the only Honors sections were in core courses).
