2 Why study this programme? This programme equips students who wish to pursue a career in the field of digital media arts production with the necessary creative, critical and technical skills for graduate entry-level employment in the media, communications-related areas of education, the wider creative industries, business and the public sector. The programme will enable you to explore specialist areas of television and film production and post-production and to develop technical skills in writing for a range of media, digital imaging and music production. The theoretical framework of the programme will enable you to critically evaluate the factors that influence media production and shape the creative process. You will explore these issues through a substantial amount of creative work and individual and group practical production. You will choose either a BA Hons or BSc Hons qualification at the end of your second year, depending on your third-year specialisms. This programme especially appeals to those with a background in creative areas (such as art and design, multimedia, film studies, screen writing, visual or media studies or music production) who have a strong interest in film and television production. You will have the opportunity to undertake

3 a work placement in business or the wider community as part of your degree. Usually, this takes place in the third year of study. You will also the chance to engage in a range of practical activities from filmmaking, photography, magazine production, web design and the production of a range of online material. You will also have the opportunity to exhibit your work in the Stephen Lawrence Gallery, which is located at the university. Why study with us? Our students study on the university s Greenwich Campus, which is part of the Old Royal Naval College and on the banks of the River Thames. The university s largest campus, it is centred on three baroque buildings designed by Sir Christopher Wren at the end of the 17th century. The surrounding town is a bustling mix of markets, shops, restaurants and pubs, as well as some of the most famous museums and tourist attractions in the country. Entry requirements: You should have: 260 UCAS points OF WHICH 220 points or more should come from qualifications at A2 level or equivalent. PLUS GCSEs at grade C or above (including English and mathematics). Applicants may be invited to interview. If you were educated in a language other than English and/or in a country where English speakers are in a minority, you should have a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each skill) or an equivalent rating in another Secure English Language Test. 5 Career opportunities Graduates can pursue careers in the media, communications-related areas of education, business and the public sector and the wider cultural and creative industries. Specific areas include online media, digital arts and design, TV, independent film, radio, visual and sonic arts, cross-platform production and post-production, research and writing for broadcast and online and mobile multimedia. Teaching and assessment You will be assessed through essays, logbooks, individual and group creative digital production work, presentations, story boarding, written reports, proposals, copy writing and exams.
