1 The City of Downey has reimagined its annual Taste of Downey event to an International Food Festival for So what s new? The International Food Festival (IFF) will provide opportunities for Downey-based restaurants to sell their food at this event! Besides food, the event will feature multiple stages showcasing music and dance from around the world. This new format will allow you to cook on site highlighting your specialties, or you can prepare your food ahead of time and then sell it on site. We are excited about showcasing the various restaurant establishments in our community and celebrating Downey s rich diversity. Take advantage of this great opportunity to market your restaurant to our community and visitors from the surrounding region. The IFF is scheduled for Saturday, September 20, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. 11:00 p.m., and aims to involve as many Downey restaurants as possible. Effective marketing tool to attract new customers Generate new customers and expand your brand Benefit from extensive publicity & promotional opportunities Only Downey-based vendors may participate 4-11p.m. $250 Restaurant Vendor Food booth canopy (with sides and pass window), buffer area for grilling, if applicable; One (1) table & two (2) folding chairs; Basic electrical power (one) 40 amp, 120 volt circuit per vendor; Booth lighting for evening use; One (1) professionally made sign with restaurant name; Health Permit & other required equipment; and Event marketing listing your participation on: o Print and advertising media; o Event flyers and posters; o Promotion via City s social media outlets: website, electronic marquee, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram; o Promotion via Downey Chamber of Commerce s social media outlets and print publication; and o Promotion via Discover Downey website. 4 Vendor Information & Conditions We are looking for restaurants that exemplify the culinary treasures of the City and those that are part of the emerging culinary scene. If your restaurant serves a unique menu item(s) and represents the rich ethnic and culinary diversity of our community, we want you! Festival Location & Operating Hours: The event is scheduled for Saturday, September 20, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. 11:00 p.m., on Downey Avenue, between 2 nd & 4 th Streets; and 3 rd Street between New Street & Civic Center Drive. VENDOR ELIGIBILITY: Applicant must be a retail operation, whose primary function is the preparation and sale of food. Items sold at the IFF must be available to the retail customer or general public through the retail operation. Restaurants must be located in the City of Downey. No more than four vendors from each category will be approved. The IFF is designed for people to enjoy a variety of food from many vendors. RESTAURANT RESPONSIBILITIES: Must hold a valid City of Downey business license. Complete the Food Vendor Application and accompanying forms by Friday, July 11, Make proper arrangements to cook, transport and store the food in compliance with standard food sanitation practices and in accordance with the Los Angeles County Public Health Department requirements. Must be set-up by 2:30 p.m., and ready to serve by 3:30 p.m. Failure to appear one hour before the official start of the event may result in removal of your booth and no refund will be issued. This is important for health permit compliance, pedestrian safety, and efficient event operations. Responsible for bringing proper utensils, menu, napkins, warmers, tablecloths, and your own cashier (with sufficient change). You may bring your own credit card swiper if you wish, but no Wi-Fi will be available. Other items that you may be responsible for bringing include display cases, racks, shelves, extension cords, or additional tables and chairs. May only sell and/or distribute items indicated and approved on the application form. All proposed menu items must be consistent with the character of the establishment and on the menu. No deep frying will be allowed. Menu prices or signs may not be altered during the event, so please carefully plan your menu and price points. We highly suggest that you do not price your meals more than $10 per plate, so as to entice sales. Participating restaurants may not sell or provide free of charge any type of alcoholic beverages. Must not leave the event prior to 11:00 p.m. All your items, supplies, and leftovers must be removed immediately thereafter.

6 MENU INFORMATION: 2014 Food Vendor Application SIDE 2 Application Deadline: July 11, 2014 Applicants must submit a list of one (1) to three (3) main menu items, with at least one signature item that your establishment is known for, or a specialty item consistent with the character of your establishment. To keep in theme with the Healthy Downey initiative, you must serve one healthy option, which can be one of the three or can be added as the fourth item. A healthy option can be a smaller portion of a specialty or main menu dish. The City also has the discretion to refuse the acceptance of a vendor application, if we do not feel it is in the best interest of the event. We will make every effort to limit the duplication of food offerings, but cannot guarantee that another vendor will not sell an item similar to yours. The final booth placement will be approved by the City.
