1 Garuda Indonesia begins nonstop flights to Jakarta On Friday, November 8, 2013, Garuda Indonesia (GA) will begin offering four nonstop return flights a week between Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, and KIX. This marks the first time since 1998 that nonstop return service will become available between these two Asian regions. The flights are expected to bring many Indonesians to Japan as well as fulfill demand in the Japanese market for travel for both business and leisure. This new development came about in part because of the efforts of high-ranking officials of NKIAC and the Association to Promote the Kansai International Airport Overall Plan who diligently lobbied GA to consider reopening the Kansai-Jakarta route. 2 The first regular Dreamliner flights to and from KIX to be offered by United Airlines United Airlines (UA) announced that on April 9, 2014 the carrier will begin operating Boeing 787 Dreamliners, the state-of-the-art aircraft developed by Boeing, in flights between KIX and San Francisco International Airport (SFO). This will be the first time the Dreamliner will fly regularly to and from KIX. The Dreamliner is known as a green aircraft that returns low carbon emissions and superior fuel economy. As such, NKIAC anticipates Boeing's innovative vehicle will benefit our Smart Ai-land *1 initiative that aims to make KIX more eco-friendly. The Dreamliner also incorporates the most advanced technology available in its onboard facilities, ensuring that passengers travelling between Japan and North America will enjoy a highly pleasurable flying experience. 3 Air Asia X to offer daily flights between Kuala Lumpur and KIX Air Asia X (D7) announced that beginning Monday, November 25, 2013, the carrier will increase service between KIX and Kuala Lumpur from four to seven flights a week. D7 manages medium and long-haul operations for the brand AirAsia, one of Asia's largest low-cost carriers. Based in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, D7 offers an extensive network of routes ranging from Central and East Asia to the Oceania region. This new development came about in part because of the efforts of high-ranking officials of NKIAC and the Association to Promote the Kansai International Airport Overall Plan who diligently lobbied D7 to consider expanding service between Kansai and Malaysia. 4 Thai Airways becomes the first carrier to offer regular A380 flights to and from KIX Thai Airways (TG) announced that on Sunday, December 1, 2013, the carrier will begin operating double-deck Airbus 380s, the largest aircraft in the world, in flights between KIX and Bangkok. This will be the first time the A380 will fly regularly to and from KIX. The TG A380 boasts a total of 507 seats divided into Royal First, Royal Silk and Economy classes. The flight offers the latest in-flight services and amenities, such as a special Bar and Lounge for Royal First Class passengers and on-demand entertainment systems for all seats, for a truly pleasurable travelling experience. 5 Early morning/late night ferry service between KIX and Kobe Airport to be extended Early morning and late night service on the high-speed ferry between KIX and Kobe Airport was being offered on a trial basis until Monday, September 30, NKIAC is happy to announce that this trial will be extended for six more months until Monday, March 31, A few changes will be made starting Tuesday, October 1, The departure time of the ferry leaving Kobe at 11:00 P.M. will be pushed up to 10:45 P.M. A new convenient service will offered to travelers who want to go on day trips to Kobe from KIX. Such travelers will be allowed to purchase a special 1,000 yen return ticket on the condition they return to KIX on the ferry departing Kobe at 10:45 P.M. Yet another new service is a shuttle bus that will travel to both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 Buildings from the KIX ferry port.

6 KIX aspires to become the first authentically Muslim-friendly airport in Japan to accommodate travelers particularly from Southeast Asia Recent years have seen more people from Southeast Asia visiting Japan; from 2011 to 2012, the number of travelers from Malaysia and Indonesia showed a significant year-over-year increase of +59.8% and +64.1% respectively. This trend is expected to grow even further as, starting this November, Air Asia X expands its service between KIX and Kuala Lumpur from four to seven flights a week and Garuda Indonesia commences nonstop service between KIX and Jakarta. Until now, airports in Japan have not been known to be especially friendly towards the many Muslims, particularly from Southeast Asia, who visit this country; however, KIX has made it a priority to accommodate our valued users who follow Islam and help them meet their food and prayer requirements through the following improvements. 1. KIX will provide more prayer facilities with Muslim-friendly features. 2. Restaurants and food sellers in KIX will be encouraged to serve halal food. 3.
