Welcome back everyone and I hope you enjoyed your time off. Enjoy the happy sight of seeing your boat in the water after all the preparation we do: Waxing, bottom painting, repairs, changing of spark plugs, caps and rotors, adding new electronics or rod holders. It could be as simple as putting new line on your reels or putting new tackle in your boxes you accumulated over the winter at sport shows. One thing for sure, we all did something in order to keep our boats Coast Guard Approved and in good working order. It sounded like all our dockside inspections went well as planned. The work of a charter boat never ends. We have had decent mixed bag fishing so far this year and we are seeing 3 different year classes of kings which looks promising for the future; just not in any numbers yet. Southern ports are just starting to do well as their water is warming up faster than ours. Now at the end of May and our water is freezing cold like last year and again June should show us some good fishing.

We have been going 100mph to get things in order and would like to get you up to speed. We are planning an Eat and Greet for Wednesday evening 6-8 PM for the captains and veterans to get acquainted prior to fishing. I suggest you all come enjoy the start to the event, and if you fish with a mate they are welcome as well. Thursday morning bring your boat to Harbor View Marina and be there by 5:00AM, I will talk to Randy about whether or not we can come over the night before. We want to be departing the marina by 5:30 and doing a shotgun start from the pier heads after commencement. We have raised enough money to give some back to you all that have offered your business to the event. We are also going to offer you the opportunity to "sponsor" your own boat and not receive any fuel money, but be placed in the sponsor advertising loop on Mason County Press, and adding your business logo to the backs of the T-shirts. Social media has become a critical aspect of current day marketing practices. Other organizations are also getting on board. You may want to create a page for your charter business. It is a great way to expand the reach of your marketing messages and to keep in contact with your customers. Posting pictures of customer catches is easy. At this time LCBA has over 500 "Likes". Information relevant to Captains and to potential customers is frequently added to the page. Check out our link on Facebook: Volunteers needed. The LCBA is always looking for members to get involved. If you would like to become a member of the board and take on some of the responsibilities, contact any board member. Nets Pen Project -26 th Year is Flawless Under the leadership of Captain Dave Lindberg and with the help of many members, the net pen project is a big success. For the 25 th year the Ludington Charter Boat Association, with the cooperation of the MDNR, were able to plant 38,000 salmon. The spring weather showed up much later than normal but, we were finally able to get the net pens installed on May 1st at the State Park. The fish remained in the pens for 26 days and were released on May 26th. As they ve been since 2009, all fish are tagged with a coded wire tag. The tagged fish are a great tool for the Fishery Division of the MDNR. Remember to check all your fish for fin clips. The information that is available from these tags will play a big role for future success of the fishery. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS FOR 2016! Please contact Shawn Promorski for more information.
