2 Friendship and Cooperation Worldwide Dear Friends, It s a very special honour for me to invite you all to the next meeting of the World Federation of Friends of Museums in Washington, D.C., June 2-5, 2016! Also I want to convey my warmest thanks to the United States Federation of Friends of Museums which will be hosting this event. I especially want to thank John and Nancy Barnum, Murray and Jackie Tarnapoll, Pam and Mike Peabody and Betty Zucker for their personal contributions to this meeting. Even though this is just a Council Meeting and General Assembly and not a WFFM Congress with a special theme, the motto Friendship and Cooperation Worldwide suits this event very well. It reflects the core intention and all the positive aspects of the WFFM and it points towards the challenges that we are facing as an international organization. I m looking forward to meeting all of you, to getting to know even more of your work and above all to deepen our friendship and strengthen our cooperation! 3 Welcome to Washington, D.C. Dear Friends, when we were meeting earlier this year in Mexico City, Jean Michel Raingeard suggested holding the 2016 meetings of WFFM in Paris. I was delighted, having lived there briefly in the 1950s and visited it often since. But Ekkehard was determined: WFFM has never met in the United States. John, what about New York? I had lived my early years there and returned to practice law there, but the idea of moving 50+ people around the traffic choked streets of The Big Apple to visit far apart museums, where movement is most feasible by subway, was simply not a good idea. But Washington, to which we had moved to work in the federal government, is doable. Virtually all of the museums are government owned and entrance is free. Distances are short and the two hotels where rooms have been reserved for you are only two blocks apart. When I left the government and we asked our children whether we should move back to New York, all three said we should stay in DC. Why? Because they all moved to New York! But we welcome you to Washington and hope you enjoy our small capitol on the Potomac. John W. Barnum President, USFFM 3

When we receive your , we will confirm receipt of your registration and back the instructions for wiring dollars to United Bank in Washington. The fees for the meeting are: DELEGATES: $714 (early booking by January 31, 2016) $814 (regular booking) COMPANIONS: $614 (early booking by January 31, 2016) $714 (regular booking) Fees must be payed in US$. 9 Hotel Reservations The USFFM has reserved rooms for the participants of the meeting at The Dupont Circle Hotel, for double room at $ including taxes and fees per night, and at The Embassy Row Hotel, for $ including taxes and fees per night. Excerpts from brochures of both hotels are included in this invitation. Please make the booking yourself. Please do not forget to refer to the meeting of the WFFM. Major credit cards can be used to book rooms. USFFM reserved and guaranteed a limited number of rooms at the above group rates in both hotels, but you are assured of paying only the group rate if your reservation is made by January 31, 2016, the deadline for qualifying for the early registration fee.
