2 SYMPOSIUM OVERVIEW Cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death in the United States. Percutaneous coronary interventions and stents have revolutionized the treatment of coronary artery disease and improved patient outcomes. However, these interventions have also created new challenges related to vessel healing and extended need for antiplatelet therapy. Similarly, peripheral, structural and anti-arrhythmic heart interventions are starting to reshape the treatment of heart disease. There is an essential need to make available updated information on the most current diagnostic and treatment strategies for coronary, peripheral, structural and arrhythmic disease for interventional cardiologists, clinical cardiologists, scientists, and other health care providers and investigators who participate in the management of these patients. The overarching goal of the Dallas Cardiovascular Innovations 2013 symposium will be to improve awareness and understanding of the most current diagnostic and treatment strategies for cardiovascular disease. TARGET AUDIENCE This course is designed for Interventional Cardiologists, Clinical Cardiologists, Scientists, and other Health Care Providers and Investigators who participate in the management of patients with coronary, peripheral and structural cardiovascular diseases. EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to: n Recognize high-risk subsets of patients and tailor therapeutic interventions. n Define state-of-the-art management of patients with peripheral vascular disease, coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, and arrhythmic heart disease. n Implement a guideline-based approach to patients with heart disease. PHYSICIAN CONTINUING EDUCATION This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of CMEsolutions and Gaffney Events. The CMEsolutions is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. CMEsolutions designates this live activity for a maximum of 8.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
