The Certificate III in Business Administration reflects the role of individuals who apply a broad range of administrative competencies in various work contexts, using some discretion and judgment. They may provide technical advice and support to a team. This qualification includes general administrative and IT competencies such as word processing, keyboarding, scheduling and utilising a range of software packages to produce documents and databases. WHAT WILL YOU ACHIEVE FROM THIS COURSE? The Certificate III in Business Administration will prepare you for a role within a business unit, working under direct supervision. It will provide you with the skills required to perform common businessrelated tasks such as producing documents and building customer relationships. It will introduce you to a range of standard business software packages including word processing, layout and databases. 4 COURSE STRUCTURE You are required to complete 13 units of study for the Certificate III in Business Administration: Compulsory - 9 core units BSBOHS201A BSBWRT301A BSBITU307A BSBITU306A Participate in OHS processes Write simple documents Develop keyboarding speed and accuracy Design and produce business documents Participate in workplace occupational health and safety (OHS) processes to protect workers own health and safety, and that of others. Plan, draft and review a basic document before writing the final version. Develop keyboard skills with speed and accuracy using touch typing techniques. Design and produce various business documents and publications. It includes selecting and using a range of functions on a variety of computer applications. BSBFIA302A Process Payroll Process payroll from provided data using manual and computerised payroll systems. BSBFIA303A BSBFIA304A Process accounts payable and receivable Maintain a general ledger Maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable records, including processing payments to creditors and handling overdue accounts receivable. Maintain a general ledger within an organisation including processing journal entries and preparing a trial balance. BSBADM307B Organise Schedules Manage appointments and diaries for personnel within an organisation, using manual and electronic diaries, schedules and other appointment systems. BSBITU304A Produce spreadsheets Develop spreadsheets through the use of spreadsheet software. Electives - Select a total of 4 electives from Certificate III and Certificate IV level Certificate III Level - must choose at least 2 from this section BSBFIA301A BSBWOR301A BSBCUS301A BSBCMM301A Maintain financial records Organise personal work priorities and development Deliver and monitor a service to customers Process customer complaints Maintain financial records for a business. It includes maintaining daily financial records such as reconciling debtors and creditors systems, preparing and maintaining a general ledger, and preparing a trial balance. It also includes activities associated with monitoring cash control for accounting purposes. Organise own work schedules, to monitor and obtain feedback on work performance, and to maintain required levels of competence. Identify customer needs and monitor service provided to customers Handle formal and informal negative feedback and complaints from customers. Consider co-assessment with BSBADM406A Organise business travel. BSBADM406B Organise Business Travel Organise domestic and overseas business travel, including developing associated itineraries, booking travel and accommodation, preparing travel related documentation and making travel arrangements. ASSESSMENTS AOT uses competency based assessment methods to ensure students have demonstrated their performance to a required standard. Competency based assessment is the focus of accredited vocational courses on what the student can actually do and the standard at which they are able to perform. Performance is measured in terms of whether students meet the prescribed levels of competency, not how well they carry out tasks relative to each other or the length of time taken to attain the skills.
