2 WELCOME TO CCH Cobram Community House is a not-for profit Registered Training Organisation that provides quality, affordable training and learning opportunities to the people of Cobram and district. We provide nationally recognised, pre-accredited and fee for service training. The House also provides social, recreational and community activities within a welcoming and supportive environment. Qualifications in areas such as Early Childhood Education and Care, Aged Care, Business and General Education are available to study. Short courses in information technology, hospitality and first aid are also available, providing pathways into employment and further education (funded with support from the Adult, Community & Further Education Board, Victoria.) Other activities include Men s Shed, U3A, Quilters Club and Gardening Club. Whether you are looking for a qualification, skills for employment or a recreational activity, we have a range of options for you. If there s something you would like to see included in our program, whether it s training or a community activity give us a call and have a chat. We d love to hear from you! We are open 10.00am pm Monday to Friday SERVICES Room Hire We have three large training rooms available for hire that can accommodate groups of up to 30. We can set up a small function room with BBQ and tea and coffee facilities. Equipment Hire Contact us for equipment hire to conduct your next meeting or event. Trained staff can sight and photocopy proof of identity (POI) so you do not have to send originals in the mail A self service phone and reply paid envelopes are available to assist you with your Medicare claims. 3 FIRST AID CCH delivers the three main First Aid courses including Provide CPR, Provide Basic Emergency Life Support, and Provide First Aid whether it s to meet workplace needs or as part of a broader qualification. Private group bookings are available for organisations. A must have for businesses, community organisations and groups. Course Code : SITHFAB201 Dates: Term 1 Wednesday 24 th February Term 2 Wednesday 25 th May Term 3 Wednesday 24 th August Term 4 Wednesday 23 rd November Duration: 10.00am 4.30pm $ Training in this qualification is being provided by Yarrawonga Neighbourhood House, Registered Training Organisation number Slice, Dice and Chop Introduction to Kitchen Skills Students will have a better knowledge and understanding of cooking skills. A greater knowledge in regards to health issues such as obesity and diabetes. Students will visit cafes and restaurants in order to get a better understanding of what is required to work in the food industry. Students will experience different cultures food- such as Asian. Students should be able to follow a recipe step by step, decide on food that they enjoy and don't enjoy, try to expand their pallet (spices, sour, sweet etc). This course pathways into further hospitality courses at both pre-accredited and accredited level. Dates : 12 February 29 April 2016 Duration: 9.30am 3.30pm
4 Meet the Mouse This course will provide basic computer applications skills and be an introduction to the internet and . It will also be the first steps for learners to become familiar with computer terminology and technology, leading to further studies in a wide range of program choices and/or entry level employment opportunities Dates : Wednesdays 10th February 24th March 2016 Will also run in terms 2, 3 and 4. Duration: 9.30am 12.30pm Taking the Next Step with Computers This course will provide intermediate computer application skills, including becoming more familiar with the internet, and starting to explore some web tools. It will also focus on social inclusion. This course will be the next step for learners who have basic computer skills to become more familiar with computer technology and terminology, leading to further studies in a wide range of program choices and/or entry level employment opportunities. Dates: Wednesdays 11 May 22 June Duration: 9.30am-12.30pm What s Word? (Introduction to Word) This course is recommended for people wanting to learn the fundamentals of Microsoft Word to create professional looking correspondence and documents. This introductory course covers the basics of Microsoft Word, from basic navigation and creating a document through to tabs, tables and formatting. A hands-on approach is taken to impart relevant skills and knowledge by having participants work through real-life examples and scenarios. Dates: Tuesdays 19 April 31 May Duration: 9.30am 12.30pm COMPUTERS Word Plus (Intermediate Word) This course is recommended for people who are keen to extend their knowledge of Microsoft Word beyond basic document creation and learn time saving techniques such as styles and mail merge This course aims to enhance existing skills by covering more specific documentation creation aspects such as working with multiple documents, formatting in tables, tabs, lists, more complex aspects of formatting, pictures and introduces new features such as merging, sections and styles. This course is primarily designed for people with some Microsoft Word experience who wish to improve their skills and productivity. Upon successful completion of the course, participants should be able to work with tables, create drawings, perform mail merges and improve productivity with a range of automation features. Dates: Fridays 13 May 24 June Duration: 9.30am 12.30pm Introduction to Excel This Introduction to Excel course is ideal for users new to Microsoft Excel, who want to learn how to produce spreadsheets, perform basic calculations and prepare simple charts. This course is designed for everyday tasks such as setting up a budget, maintaining an address list, or keeping track of a list of to-do items. It aims to give the participant a thorough grounding in Microsoft Excel through practical exercises and real-life scenarios. Emphasis is placed on the importance of accuracy, good formula building techniques and sound formatting and design principles. Participants will learn to navigate around Excel, create worksheets, use formulas, create charts and apply formatting to enhance the presentation of their work. This is an introductory course designed for people who would like to know how to use Microsoft Excel. Upon completion of the course, participants should be able to produce simple reports, budgets, lists and charts. This course will lead into further studies in a wide range of program choices and/or entry level employment opportunities. Dates: Tuesday 9 February 22 March 2016 Duration: 9.30am 12.30pm Excelling at Excel (Intermediate Excel) This Intermediate Excel course is ideal for existing users of Excel who would like to expand their skills and knowledge and learn more techniques associated with creating more productive workbooks and charts. During this course, instructors show participants how to work more effectively with Excel worksheets. Students will undertake tasks covering formulas and function techniques, more intricate formatting, using charting features and filtering to manage and analyse data. This course is intended for current Microsoft Excel users who wish to extend their knowledge and skills beyond building simple spreadsheets. Upon completion of the course, participants should be able to use more advanced techniques to manage, manipulate, analyse complex data associated with creating better and more productive workbooks. This course will lead into further studies in a wide range of program choices and/or employment opportunities. Dates: Thursdays 12 May 23 June Duration: 9.30am 12.30pm i-technology Focussing on mobile device digital skills this course will provide an opportunity to explore various aspects of mobile devices and a variety of available apps while building confidence and knowledge about the use and operation of the devices. The course provides a pathway into other computer/ digital technology courses such as digital story telling or Computers courses and also will give skills to enhance job prospects and further study efficiency outcomes. Aged Care is a rapidly expanding industry with lots of employment opportunities. Fast track your way to a dual qualification! Save time and money while you acquire the skills and knowledge to work in a variety of aged care and community / home-based care settings. This dual course is being offered using a blended delivery model, designed for those who cannot always access classroom-based courses and want a more flexible way of learning. Technical support is provided to assist all students in the use of our Online Campus and Virtual Classroom. Codes: CHC30212/CHC30312 Commences: Tuesday 2 February Time: 9:00am 3:30pm AGED CARE Funded: $1,100 Concession: $638 Unfunded: $3,000 (GST free) Training in this qualification is being provided by Yarrawonga Neighbourhood House, Registered Training Organisation number Do you need child care to help you undertake training? The Family Learning Support Program provides funding to enable learners to participate in learning where the cost of child care is a barrier to participation. Learners who are enrolled in Government subsidised pre-accredited or accredited training at a Learn Local organisation should ask staff for more information about the program. The program is available to assist parents, carers or guardians of a child or children aged between 0-6 years and who are not yet enrolled at school and need occasional child care during class time. If you are receiving the Commonwealth funded Child Care Benefit then you may be able to receive top up funding and if you are ineligible then funding can be used to help you pay your out of pocket costs.
6 PATHWAYS Enhance your Skills This course will provide 10 ways to enhance your skills. The key topics are as follows: Customer service, presentation, professional development, time management, communication, well-being, leadership, teamwork, technology and networking skills. This course will lead to further studies in a wide range of program choices/or employment opportunities. Dates: 21 April 2nd June (Thursdays) Time: 9.30am 12.30pm AGRICULTURE Farming is the new Mining Learners will have developed a broad knowledge of work opportunities within the local primary production area. They will understand the fundamental requirements of the industry and will develop basic skills to identify how to identify and source industry jobs and the skills required. A range of local primary producers will be invited to showcase their particular industry and participants will have the opportunity to engage with the speakers at both a group and individual level. Pathways will include further studies at TAFE in Agriculture and Horticulture. Dates: 11 February 24 March (Thursdays) Time: 9.30am 12.30pm BEAUTY Beauty Basics Upon successful completion of this course the learner will be able to file and paint nails, perform a seated massage, and apply foundation and basic makeup. This course is for those that want to then go on to pursue a career in Beauty. This taster course will lead to certificate level courses in beauty. Do you have interest in an area and don t know where to start. Contact CCH to start your journey today. Enrolling Head inside CCH and complete the enrolment form. Applicants enrolling in a full qualification are required to attend an interview and complete a LLN Pre-Assessment. Enrolment is complete once fees have been paid. USI If you are a new or continuing student undertaking nationally recognised training and course you need a USI (Unique Student Identifier) in order to receive your qualification or statement of attainment. If you don't have a USI you will not receive your qualification or statement of attainment. The USI is a reference number made up of 10 numbers and letters that creates a secure online record of your recognised training and qualifications gained in Australia. Students enrolling at CCH will be required to provide their USI prior to or at enrolment. Those students without a USI will need to obtain a USI prior to enrolment. Please enquire at Reception should you require assistance with obtaining a USI. Fees All fees and charges are listed in the course brochure. Fees are to be paid at the CCH office. You can arrange a payment plan if you are unable to pay the full course fee in one payment. A deposit for courses is mandatory.
