Volunteering at Wellsprings HOW YOU CAN HELP Volunteering is an integral part of Wellsprings for Women. Volunteers contribute so much to the wellbeing of women who come to Wellsprings where we offer support, encouragement, learning and friendship. In return our volunteers receive involvement in a lively community, new experiences, opportunities for personal and professional development, support and the chance to build fruitful relationships. We offer a variety of training and volunteering opportunities including : Office Administration Home Visiting Fundraising Program Support If you would like to find out more about becoming a volunteer at Wellsprings, please telephone the centre to make an appointment with our Coordinator of Volunteers. Special Days promote social justice and community development principles, Wellsprings runs a number of special days during the year. Students, tutors, staff and volunteers are encouraged to participate in Special Days that coincide with their course or work. Page 2 Page 11

3 FEES/ENROLMENT FRIDAY Classes Begin: Term 3-17 July to 18 September, Term 4-9 October to 11 December Enrolments Enrolments are made by appointment only. English Conversation A volunteer run English conversation class which helps women who want to improve their spoken English through discussion and activities on a variety of topics in a child friendly environment Enrolment Appointments Mondays to Thursdays 9.30 to 2.00 pm By Appointment Fridays 9.30 to pm By Appointment We do not run classes on public holidays or during school holidays. Please call to book an appointment. A place in a course is not confirmed until availability of a place in the course is confirmed, enrolment process is completed, and payment made. Fees/Concession An annual enrolment fee of $15.00 is to be paid on first enrolment for the year by all students. The government funded courses on offer are supported by a concession rate. You are eligible for a concession if you receive a pension or have a Health Care Card. Details must be provided when you enrol. Payment can also be made by installment if you are having difficulty in paying the full fee. Wellsprings aims to provide the opportunity for all women to participate in our programs. If you are experiencing financial hardship, please contact our Manager to arrange for a private talk to consider the granting of a special concession or exemption. OUTREACH PROGRAMS Proudly funded by: Home Visitation This program provides in home support, companionship and referral to socially isolated women, particularly new arrivals to improve their health and wellbeing. Donate Presentation Sisters, Victoria The objectives of the Program are Wellsprings reserves the right to cancel classes that do not have a minimum number of participants enrolled prior to class start date. A full refund will be given for payments received. Why not consider donating to Wellsprings for Women. We are a non profit organisation and gifts are tax deductible. A donation of $65 for instance, would pay for a lady to enrol in a formal English Class for the year. Any donations, large or small are always put to good use. Mondays 9.30 to 12.30pm THURSDAY Classes Begin: Term 3-16 July to 17 September, Term 4-8 October to 10 December Sewing for Beginners Learn to follow simple patterns, repair clothes and practice new stitches. Thursdays to 12.00pm Art for the Love of It Polish Grandmas Group Discover hidden talents. Learn about the many different mediums and how to paint, mix colours, and other art techniques to create your own individual art work. (Materials not included) Mondays 1 to 3pm Meet monthly to form friendships, share information and have a cuppa. Last Thursday of each month to 2.00pm Fees $3 to $5 donation per meeting Dates 31 July, 28 August, 30 October, 27 November Creative Connections through Craft Choir A multicultural craft process for newly arrived refugee women, offering traditional and western craft skill development as well as conversational English language training and support services in a child friendly environment. We sing all types of songs, have a gifted choir leader, a talented pianist and a group of singers. No experience or talent is required to join this group come and join us for a session of relaxation, laughter happiness and a feeling of achievement. Thursdays 10:30am to 12pm Page 9

Level 3 Continue improving your spoken and written English skills Wednesdays 9.30 to 12.30pm (concession) $80 per year OR $30 per term (non concession) Computer: Intermediate* This class is for those who have completed the Beginners class or who are already familiar with using computers. Wednesdays 1.00 to 3.00pm (concession) $80 per year OR $20 per term (non concession) TUESDAY Classes Begin: Term 3-14 July to 15 September, Term 4-6 October to 8 December Computers: Intermediate This class is for those who have completed the Beginners class or who are already familiar with using computers. Tuesdays to 12.00pm Computers: For Beginners This is for women who have little or no knowledge on how to use computers. Tuesdays 1.00 to 3.00pm (concession) $80 per year OR $20 per term (non concession) Learning to Live in Australia A cross cultural learning group for mothers with young children. Learn about the Australian school system and workplace in a child friendly environment. Tuesdays to 12.00pm The above classes are funded by ACFE. If you enroll for 2 ACFE classes you only pay for 1 class whichever has the higher fee Craft Social crafting group undertaking a wide range of craft & textile activities. Tuesdays 1.00 to 3.00pm * The above classes are funded by ACFE. If you enroll for 2 ACFE classes you only pay for 1 class whichever has the higher fee Sudanese Grandmas Group Meet fortnightly to form friendships, share information and have a cuppa Tuesdays 1 to 3pm Dates: Feb 10 & 24, Mar 10 & 24 Crochet & Knitting Club Social knitting group bring along your wool and needles to create something beautiful with colour and texture. Beginners and advanced. Wednesdays 1.00 to 3.00pm Page 8 Creative Fundraiser Sewing Project (Please note that this project will be run in Term 4) Learn how to make jewellery, weave baskets, sew and many other products to be sold to raise money for Wellsprings craft and sewing programs by re-purposing scraps of fabric to make useful and beautiful products.
