5 Presented by: First Aid Courses PAGE 5 HLTAID003 - Provide first aid Workplace (Level 2) This is a short course designed to develop the knowledge and skills to provide basic first aid and manage the casualty(s) and the incident. Cost: $ Includes Anaphylaxis When: September 9 th and 10th Times: 6pm 9:30pm HLTAID001 CPR Update Cost: $60.00 When: September 9 th Times: 6pm 9:30pm HLTAID006 Apply Advanced First Aid Workplace (Level 3) You will be able to provide advanced first aid response, life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders as well as support to other providers. Competency includes Advanced Resuscitation techniques, AED, oxygen administration, asthma management and anaphylaxis management. This unit covers the application of skills and knowledge in an emergency in the workplace or home where first aid treatment options are applied. Cost: $ When: September 9 th and 10 th Times: 6pm 9:30pm Fees and times are subject to change 21886VIC / 22024VIC Course in Emergency Asthma Management This course provides the knowledge and skills to enable people to identify asthma signs and symptoms and provide the emergency management for a person suffering from an asthma attack. Possession of a Statement of Attainment permits the holder to apply for a Bronchodilator Accreditation Number (BAN) to keep asthma medication in a first aid kit and administer the medication. Cost: $65.00 When September 9 th HLTAID004 Provide an Emergency First Aid Response in an Education and Care Setting This unit specifies the outcomes required to provide first aid in a range of education and care settings to manage the incident and response, & communicate with others involved in the treatment or response. (Course includes Asthma and Anaphylaxis training). Cost: $ When: September 9 th and 10 th Times: 6pm 9:30pm 22099VIC Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis This will provide training in the recognition and emergency management of allergic reactions and Anaphylaxis. This training includes the use and administration of Epi Pen. Come along to our support group and share stories, treatments and information with other people from across the region. Is it causing you to get into unpleasant or dangerous situations? Are family members complaining about your drinking? Then the AA program of recovery is what you need. Day: Every Friday Time: 8:00pm 10:00pm Pacemaker Clinic The Royal Melbourne Hospital s Cardiology Department is running a Pacemaker clinic for patients here at the North Shepparton Community and Learning Centre. 7 The Bridge Youth Service The North Shepparton Community Learning Centre in partnership with The Bridge Youth Service and the Greater Shepparton City Council are excited to announce that a youth worker will now be available one day per week to support young people in the North Shepparton area. Young people and/or families will be able to meet with Dave (youth worker) for an initial chat about what may be happening for them and the support they may want. Dave will then be able to discuss with young people and/or families what options are in the area for their request and provide initial support. The support may include links to: homelessness support services education support employment support family support legal support drug and alcohol support health and wellbeing services youth activities general youth support one on one support or group programs If you would like to find out when Dave will next be at the North Shepparton Community Learning Hub, please call reception Monday Friday 9am to 3.30pm on or pop in. Being Me Mothers Support Group The Being Me Mothers Support Group offers a place for mothers to meet on a regular basis for social connection and provides access to a range of support services. Being Me is an open child free support group which welcomes mothers to come together for some time out from daily parenting. Group activities will include art and craft therapy sessions, information and techniques to deal with stress, relaxation sessions, and professional advice from local health professionals. 8 Social Groups PAGE 8 The Men s Shed If you are interested in joining the group come in and speak to the office staff, or just attend the shed on Thursday and have a chat to Jeff. We would also greatly appreciate donations of Mowers working of otherwise to be fixed up by our participants. Day: Every Thursday (Victorian school terms only) Time: 9:00am 3:00pm Cost: $40.00 a year, with the first day free you may want to trial it and see if this group is for you. For more details call North Shepparton Community & Learning Centre on Craft for a Cause The Craft for a Cause group are volunteers that make items to donate to people in need. Bring some lunch, have a chat and create something beautiful. The group is currently seeking for donations of Yarn to continue their work. Day: Every Friday (Victorian school terms only) Time: 10:00am-3:00pm Cost: Free Women s Activities and Discussion Group Come and join in with the Women s Activities and Discussion Group. Meet others, have a laugh, and make new friends. This group is for women only. The group choose from a mix of different activities to do each week, or sometimes they may just get together for a coffee and a chat. Stay for an hour, or all day it s totally up to you!! Day: Each Thursday (Victorian school terms only) Times: 10:00am 3:00pm Cost: Free Oil Painting The oil painting group is social and fun. Come along with your own materials (paints and canvases not supplied), have a chat and some laughs, while working along at your own pace to create your pieces of art. Do they get bored at home and ask to do something different? NSCLC runs a school holiday program every Victorian school holidays with fun activities & excursions to suit primary school children s interests. 10 Course enrolment, fee payment and cancellation information Enrolment Course enrolments can be made by contacting North Shepparton Community & Learning Centre on or in person at Parkside Drive Shepparton Fee Payment Course fees are due at the beginning of the first class. EFTPOS is not available. Fees are permitted to be paid by installments when approved by the Training Coordinator or Centre Manager. Refunds All payments will be refunded in full should NSCLC cancel a program. Generally, refunds are not made once a program has commenced and an enrolled student changes their mind. An application for a refund is to be completed with the NSCLC Training Coordinator.
