3 Studying Through Euphoria Institute of Training Euphoria Institute of Training prides itself in offering flexibly delivered workplace based training that is nationally accredited. That means we come to you! All Training Consultants employed by Euphoria Institute of Training have extensive industry experience and have all worked in the industry in which they train and assess at some stage of their career. We understand the multi-faceted roles of the industry in which you are employed and how exhausting balancing work, life and study commitments can be. Training Consultants draw on their experience as well as current practices to enhance every student s learning and development. To support consistency, familiarity and develop long term, supportive relationships, all Training Consultants are assigned to students. Usually they live and have worked within the region, so they understand the demographics and culture of your Community. In addition, we will be offering workshops which will be conducted on week nights. This is an extremely effective mode of learning with group discussion, real scenarios and networking opportunities. Supper will be included at no extra cost. Workbooks will be provided for all units for your future reference. All Training Consultants are qualified and trained to deliver Euphoria s products and services, so whether you seek training in an accredited qualification, professional development course, or your workplace requires consultancy support then Euphoria Institute of Training is your one stop shop. To have us come to you, means you don t have to try and fit us into your life, we fit ours into yours. We believe that learning comes from doing. Whilst we will provide you with the essential knowledge ensuring understanding of the skills you undertake, we will also be providing extensive opportunities for you to practice skills on a regular basis. All of us have mentors and supervisors in our working lives and at Euphoria Institute of Training we believe in engaging these people in your learning journey by providing them with the opportunity to observe your practical skills and support you in your ongoing development. Those undertaking a course in Training and Assessment won t all necessarily have the same learning needs or bring with them the same level of experience. Euphoria Institute of Training therefore works with you at enrolment to determine what study mode suits you best. Some may have the skills to be assessed via a recognition process whilst others may need to complete the qualification through learning and assessment provided in learning guides.

4 Study Modes to Suit Your Lifestyle and Learning Needs Pre-employment Program If you are seeking pre-employment programs designed to seek entry into the industry Euphoria Institute of Training will, periodically, be able to accommodate you. These may be targeted to a specific client group Indigenous, long-term unemployed, mature-aged. These will provide excellent insight into the world of Early Childhood enabling you to determine suitability. Workplace Based As mentioned previously, this is what Euphoria Institute of Training believes is the core to quality training and assessment in terms of competency based, vocational education. Whether you commence study via a pre-employment program, complete via recognition of prior learning (RPL) or are registered as a Trainee or Apprentice, you will be involved in workplace training and assessment. The majority of our students are existing workers, and their workplace becomes a crucial part of their training. If you aren t yet employed, or choose to study externally, you will still be required to attend an approved workplace in order to receive practical experience. Workplace based training means your workplace is your learning environment. Euphoria Institute of Training will provide, as part of your learning and assessment tools, activities and assessment that incorporates your everyday job role and functions, workplace policies and procedures, and the Government legislative requirements that are applicable to your State or Service. Unless undertaking a pre-employment course, enrolments can be accepted all year round. Once again, we come to you. Just call our office or your workplaces assigned Training Consultant to arrange a mutually convenient time to get you started. Relevant fees and payment options are outlined in the payment schedule provided. Workshops Workshops will be conducted monthly for all courses within the Training and Assessment Certificate. These workshops can be attended as the student chooses. It is optional and can be attended in conjunction with other modes of study. Timetables will be available from the Office or website, Distance Should you live in an area where Euphoria Institute of Training does not yet have a Training Consultant available, we do offer a distance mode of study. 5 With distance education you will be sent learning guides via the post and all correspondence will be by way of your preferred option , phone or mail. Although you will have access to phone and support you will not be visited in the workplace or if numbers allow visits will be infrequent. You will still be required to complete practical experience. This mode of study is given a longer time frame as it is self-paced requiring you to manage your own study time. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) RPL is an assessment process that acknowledges a person s skills and knowledge required through previous training both formal and informal, and life skills which enables a student to demonstrate competence in a unit of study. It is important to note, that RPL should not be seen as an easier option to gaining a qualification. Whilst there are no learning guides to complete, you will be required to demonstrate competency through the provision of evidence. Training Consultants will validate your competency against required skill sets (clusters of units of similar related outcomes). Validation may occur by assessing a combination of the following: Interviews Third Party evidence Verbal questioning Observation of work practices Resumes References Professional development activities Work samples Euphoria Institute of Training strongly believes seeing is believing so we make every attempt to ensure direct observation is an integral part of our RPL process. Euphoria Institute of Training does not promote an excessive evidence portfolio approach. Credit Transfer Euphoria Institute of Training recognises all Statements of Attainment and qualifications issued by Registered Training Organisations (RTO s) within Australia. Credit Transfer is a process for recognising formal training outcomes that have been achieved previously. If credit transfers are granted, the student may be awarded a credit to the particular unit/s. It will be necessary if applying for credit transfer to provide a certified copy of each transcript. Please be aware that whilst some units may directly cross to the qualification being undertaken, others may need to be examined through performance criteria and learning outcomes to determine the extent to which the unit completed can provide credit in a similar unit of study. 6 Frequently Asked Questions Q: Can I complete the whole qualification through RPL? A: Yes, RPL can be applied to a single unit or the whole qualification. Q: What if I think I am able to do the whole qualification via RPL and then find there are some things I haven t as yet had a lot of experience in? A: It is our job to identify what we refer to as gaps in experience or skills and provide you with options to achieve competency which will include both learning and assessment strategies. Gap training attracts additional fees but usually any gaps are identified at time of enrolment and fees discussed. Q: How do I pay my fees? A: Fees and payment options are outlined in the payment schedule. We understand that the cost of study can put added strain on someone s budget. To ensure study is available to everyone we accept many methods of payment including Ezidebit (a direct debit option). Our fees are very competitive. If completing via RPL, RPL s must be paid for before assessment can occur. Q: I have the TAA40104 qualification and was a trainer 2 years ago. As I have been a trainer before, do I need to upgrade or can I get a training position with my TAA qualification? A: Trainers currently working actively as a trainer who hold a TAA qualification are to continue working with no requirement at this stage to upgrade. As your training experience is not current and you are not at this stage employed as a trainer, it is recommended you upgrade our qualification to meet the new TAE requirements. Q: I have the qualification I need for my position, but often perform higher duties. If I don t want to complete the next level qualification at this stage, is there any short course option that may enhance my skills when working in a higher duties capacity? A: Of course. You may be interested in the Programming Skill Set to support your role when performing higher duties. Page 6

7 Upgrade to: Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40110 Upgrade from: Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training Certificate IV in Training and Assessment National Course Code: BSZ40198 TAA40104 Units required for Upgrade: 3 Core plus 1 Elective 1 Core plus 3 Electives Commencement: Commence at any time of year Commence at any time of Year RPL Course Duration: Enrolment valid for 3 months Enrolment valid for 3 months Total RPL Fees $500 $500 (if completing all four units) Distance Course Duration Enrolment valid for 6 months Enrolment valid for 6 months Total Distance Fees (if completing all four units) $650 $650 The key clients for this qualification are those currently training and assessing in one of the many industries covered by endorsed training packages, or are those seeking to train but in both cases are holders of a superseded qualification. Vocational outcomes for graduates of this qualification may include; Enterprise Trainer Qualified Trainer / Assessor Qualified Trainer Enterprise Trainer / Assessor Page 7

8 Units to be completed for upgrade to TAE40110 from BSZ40198 (3 Core plus 1 elective) Core Units: There are three core units in the new TAE qualification that do not map to any of the old core units from BSZ. It is therefore a requirement to complete the below core units: TAEASS401A TAEASS403A TAEDES402A Plan assessment activities and processes Participate in assessment validation Use training packages and accredited courses to meet client needs Elective Units: There are a range of electives in the new TAE qualification that map in whole or part to old elective units from BSZ. You need to demonstrate competence in one of the below units from the new TAE course. If you have the unit from the BSZ course that maps directly to one of the units below, you will have a credit transfer applied and as such no fee will be applied. Units that map from BSZ are shown in brackets next to the new TAE unit. TAEDEL404A Mentor in the workplace (new unit no credit transfer is available) TAEASS502A Design and develop assessment tools (new unit - no credit transfer is available) TAEDEL301A Provide work skill instruction (maps to TAADEL301C) Units to be completed for upgrade to TAE40110 from TAA40104 (1) Core plus 3 electives) Core Units: There is one core unit in the new TAE qualification that doesn t map to any of the old core units from TAA. 13 How to Enrol Step 1. Read carefully the Student Handbook and this Student Course Guide so you are comfortable with all the policies, procedures and requirements that will relate to your enrolment and you as a student of Euphoria Institute of Training. Step 2. Read in detail the outline of your preferred course, paying attention to any prerequisites required, timelines for completion and all related fees. Ask as many questions as you like, we are here to help. Step 3. Use the enrolment and payment schedule forms to enrol. Ensure all details are completed in full and pay extra attention to your contact details. It s our commitment to you to stay in touch and help you progress through your course. Step 4. You will need to provide any supporting information requested. Certified copies of your results of previous study (Statement of Attainment) are absolutely necessary if you are applying for credit transfer. Step 5. Once your Training Consultant is satisfied the enrolment form and payment schedule have been completed in full and correct payment has been received they will provide you with your class timetable (if applicable), learning materials, or assessment tools (should you be completing via RPL), to get you started. If you have submitted your enrolment paperwork by post, College staff will check your enrolment details and once all requirements are met they will arrange for you to receive your class timetable (if applicable), learning materials, or assessment tools (should you be completing via RPL). Step 6. You will receive by mail or (whatever you selected as your preferred correspondence method) a Confirmation of Enrolment letter and statement of fees paid. Page 13
