3 Faculty Adrian Reifenstein Executive Manager Technical Marketing ALS Global Prior to Adrian s current role at ALS, he has held a number of management and technical research positions, the most recent being the Vice-President Canada for ALS Coal. His 25 year career in the coal industry has been focused on determination of coal and coke quality and the impact of these indices on the utilisation potential of coal in coke ovens and pulverized fuel power stations. Michael Mewing Director MC2 Company Pty Ltd. Michael Mewing has more than 30 years experience in the international coal industry and has had the unique experience of working in the coal industries of New South Wales, Queensland, South Africa, Indonesia and the US. He has held senior commercial, marketing and business development roles with BP Coal, Rio Tinto, PT Berau Coal, Millennium Coal and Ambre Energy Limited. Michael is principal of his Brisbane based consultancy company MC2 Company Pty Ltd which is focused on business development opportunities in mining and infrastructure projects as well as marketing advisory services. Emanuele Novi Director, Coal Trading Mercuria Energy Trading Pte Ltd Emanuele joined Mercuria Energy Trading in Indonesia in 2009 after 5 years of experience in coal trading mainly focused on Indonesian sourcing and Asian markets. During his activity in Indonesia he gained significant knowledge around the complexity of Indonesian coal, logistics and operational implications involved. Jim Nicholson Senior Vice President Asia Argus Media Ltd Jim Nicholson joined Argus in March 2004, having spent most of his career specialising in publishing and energy market price discovery. He is responsible for all Asian business development and editorial activity at Argus, based out of the company s Singapore office. He previously worked in the London headquarters, responsible for developing Argus global coverage and use in contracts particularly for natural gas, coal, electricity and emissions markets. Damian Adams Partner Simmons & Simmons Damian Adams is a corporate and commercial partner in the Singapore office of international law firm Simmons & Simmons. He has lived and worked in Singapore for over 13 years and specialises in cross-border deals in the natural resources and transport sectors, particularly in relation to mining, minerals and commodities. Damian s transactional expertise covers M&A, private equity investment and joint ventures, commodity sale, purchase and transport and structured commodity finance. Mathew Oommen Mining Engineering Practice Leader Golder Associates Inc. Mathew Oommen, Ph.D. has more than 20 years of experience in the global mining industry, having managed projects for clients in Indonesia, Canada, Australia, Colombia, Venezuela, Myanmar and United States. Mathew has significant experience with due diligence of coal mines in support of acquisitions and coal supply plans in support of coal-fired IPPs. Mathew has prepared JORC Compliant Reports (as a Competent Person) and National Instrument (NI ) Technical Reports (as a Qualified Person). Capt. Mario Terenzio Managing Director Logmarin Advisors srl Mario Terenzio is a shipping and logistics expert, with a 13-year seagoing experience in oceanographic, container and Ro-Ro vessels. In 2006, Mr Terenzio founded Logmarin Advisors, a consultancy company, member of Rina group (Italian National Classification Society, IACS member). Logmarin s aim is to provide a comprehensive and integrated advisory service for marine terminals (both shore and off-shore) and associated handling infrastructures (evaluating different water transportation systems, identifying proper loading/unloading equipment, assessing all possible bottlenecks and finally identifying costeffective and environmental-friendly solutions).
