1 Join us! On behalf of The Society of Thoracic Surgeons Workforce on National Databases, I invite you to attend Advances in Quality & Outcomes: A Data Managers Meeting. This 3-day annual event for data managers will be held October 21-23, 2015, in San Antonio, Texas. The meeting venue, the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter, is along the famed San Antonio River. The River Walk s shaded stone pathways wind through the city center, linking hotels with restaurants, shops, theaters, museums, and other attractions. We ve planned a robust and informative program for the AQO Meeting that will focus on all three components of the STS National Database: the Adult Cardiac Surgery Database, the Congenital Heart Surgery Database (CHSD), and the General Thoracic Surgery Database. The primary objective of this meeting is to provide attendees with a variety of presentations and discussions to help them improve data collection and patient outcomes. Of particular importance is the comprehensive overview of the new CHSD data specification upgrade that becomes effective January 1, The AQO Meeting is designed for health care professionals, including nurses, cardiovascular coordinators, clinical analysts, quality managers, and data collection personnel, who are dedicated to delivering and improving quality health care for cardiothoracic surgery patients. The conference provides the opportunity to learn about the STS National Database and associated strategies for collection of complete and accurate data, while simultaneously meeting and networking with fellow data managers, STS members, surgeon leaders, and STS staff. STS views the AQO conference as an opportunity to receive valuable feedback from data managers that will help improve and inform future upgrades to the STS National Database. Credit will not be awarded for overlapping sessions. Please refer to credit designation below.
