On behalf of The Society of Thoracic Surgeons Workforce on National Databases, I am pleased to invite you to Advances in Quality & Outcomes: A Data Managers Meeting, a three-day annual event for data managers to be held this year in Atlanta, Georgia. This meeting will focus on all three Databases that comprise the STS National Database: Adult Cardiac Surgery, Congenital Heart Surgery, and General Thoracic Surgery. The primary objective of this meeting is to provide attendees with a variety of presentations and discussions to help them improve data collection and patient outcomes. Of particular importance this year to the General Thoracic Surgery Database data managers: a comprehensive overview of the new data specification upgrade that becomes effective Jan. 1, To be held at the Hilton Atlanta, Oct , the AQO Conference is designed for health care professionals and data collection personnel who are dedicated to delivering and improving quality health care to cardiovascular surgical patients. Target Audience The target audience for this meeting is any health care professional devoted to improving the quality of care of cardiothoracic surgery patients. Encouraged to attend are data managers, physicians, registered nurses, perfusionists, and quality improvement personnel involved in STS National Database data collection. Anyone striving to improve the care of the cardiothoracic surgical patients through the use of outcomes data will benefit by attending. About Atlanta Fall is the ideal time to visit Atlanta. October temperatures are mild, just right for experiencing many of Atlanta s famous attractions starting with the Georgia Aquarium, the world s largest aquarium and home to more than 100,000 animals of 500 different species. Atlanta is also the world headquarters for Coca-Cola. Visitors can sample more than 60 kinds of beverages while exploring the history of the world s best known brand at the World of Coca-Cola. You may also want to stop by Atlanta s most famous landmark, Centennial Olympic Park, a lasting legacy of the 1996 Olympic Games. Those interested in current events can get an exciting, behind-the-scenes glimpse of news broadcasting during the CNN Studio Tour. Culture is plentiful in Atlanta as well; art lovers can visit the High Museum of Art and experience the vast holdings in its recent $130 million expansion. And those who crave nothing more than a little retail therapy can get an early start on the holidays with Atlanta s more than 130 shopping centers.
