2 who we are We re an independent, not-for-profit organisation set up to sort out disputes between consumers and financial services businesses fairly, reasonably and impartially. We were set up in 2000 as a statutory alternative to the courts. We ve expanded significantly since then and our remit now covers nearly all financial services and products from spread betting to pet insurance. We employ over 3,600 people and more than 2 million customers contact us each year. like to know more? We publish our plans at the start of each financial year. Our annual review looks back at the past year, with facts, figures and information about our work and the trends in complaints. 4 HR business partner 6 month contract reporting to lead HR business partner location South Quay, London docklands salary 50,000 plus excellent pension and benefits the purpose of the role You ll develop strong and professional working relationships, with credibility, with customer groups across the ombudsman. This will enable you to provide senior managers, managers and their teams with best practice, pragmatic HR advice and guidance. You ll help them put in place people plans that support the delivery of both the performance objectives for their area, and the overall HR people strategy. And you ll represent HR in the organisation as the visible face of HR and organisational development (HR&OD). your responsibilities in the role developing, tailoring, implementing and delivering the people plan for the areas you support to help them achieve their performance objectives being the HR professional contact point for people management issues, coaching and supporting your managers to build the capability of the people who work here giving tactical and pragmatic employment advice to the managers and people you support finding professionally-sound and solutions to problems that are sensitive to the organisation s needs, while keeping in mind our values and any relevant employment law planning for the future of key roles here and starting discussions with your managers about managing talent, while also working with your HR colleagues to manage identified talent and high potential groups giving professional HR advice as an escalation point for people-related queries from the HR support team and HR colleagues promoting and encouraging an inclusive working environment leading people projects and contributing to wider project teams managing the people aspects of the ombudsman s programme of changes, to minimise any negative impact on people in your specific area of the organisation interpreting and analysing information from a number of sources including identifying, early on, any potential people issues and updating senior colleagues HR business partner August 2015 page 4
