Change the training plan if the emplyer and apprentice/trainee agree t the change Take all reasnable steps t ensure the emplyer and apprentice/trainee sign the changed training plan within 14 days after the change is agreed t Hwever, if the change is minr (e.g. an amendment t reflect the changed title f a qualificatin), the signatures f the emplyer and apprentice/trainee are nt necessary. A cpy f the changed training plan must be sent t the emplyer and apprentice/trainee within 14 days after making the change. A minr change wuld nt alter the fundamental infrmatin cntained in a training plan such as wh, hw, what, where and when. Give the DET, Qld ntice if the apprentice/trainee is nt making the prgress required under the apprentice s/trainee s training plan Prvide the apprentice/trainee with an apprpriate training recrd within 14 days f the parties signing the training plan Give reasnable ntice t the apprentice/trainee f the requirement t prduce the training recrd fr updating. DET,Qld will accept training plans which have been develped by supervising registered training rganisatins t meet their individual requirements prvided the training plans cntain all the infrmatin cntained in the Apprenticeship/Traineeship training plan template. v3.1 February 2015 Page 2
3 The apprved frm cntains, but is nt limited t - The training (n-the-jb/wrkplace tasks) t be delivered t the apprentice/trainee by the apprentice s/trainee s emplyer - in instances where the emplyer des nt have the necessary range f wrk r facilities fr a particular unit f cmpetency, a temprary transfer needs t be arranged t place the apprentice/trainee with anther emplyer r, prvided the training package permits, the unit may be dne in a simulated envirnment. The training plan must clearly indicate against each unit f cmpetency if the n-thejb/wrkplace tasks will be delivered by the emplyer, an alternative emplyer via a temprary transfer, r via a simulated envirnment. The training t be delivered t the apprentice/trainee by the SRTO - Frmal/ff-the-jb training must be cnducted by a trainer wh meets the requirements f the Standards fr NVR Registered Training Organisatins. In the majrity f cases this wuld be the SRTO, hwever in a small number f instances an emplyer may be suitably qualified, r the SRTO and emplyer might cnduct the training in partnership. The training plan must clearly indicate against each unit f cmpetency if the frmal/ff-the-jb training will be delivered by the SRTO, emplyer r in partnership. The maximum perid f the training t be delivered by the SRTO during the apprenticeship/traineeship - the training plan must list planned start and end dates fr frmal training against each unit f cmpetency, as well as be regularly updated with the date the unit is deemed cmpetent by the SRTO. The qualificatin t be issued t the apprentice/ trainee n cmpleting the training - the training plan must state the qualificatin natinal cde and qualificatin name. An indicatin that the nminated wrkplace fr the apprentice/trainee has the necessary wrk, resurces and facilities needed fr the apprentice/trainee t undertake the wrkplace training - infrmatin prvided in answer t this questin n the training plan des nt negate the need fr an emplyer resurce assessment t be cnducted. If the answer t this questin n the training plan is n, the alternative arrangements must be listed in the emplyer resurce assessment. The emplyer s supprt f cmpetence - This may be the emplyer s signature, initials r a date transcribed frm ther infrmatin where the emplyer has prvided verificatin in supprt f cmpetence (e.g. third party verificatin r the training recrd). Training recrd The training recrd may be kept in any way the SRTO cnsiders apprpriate. Fr example, the training recrd may be a printed bklet r may be prvided electrnically. Under an apprenticeship r traineeship the SRTO has an bligatin t prvide any necessary frmal /ff-the-jb training, and the emplyer has an bligatin t prvide the necessary training in the wrkplace (n-the-jb/wrkplace tasks). The purpse f a training recrd is t recrd this training. v3.1 February 2015 Page 3
4 The SRTO must prvide training t the apprentice r trainee f the underpinning knwledge and skills t enable the apprentice r trainee t apply that knwledge and thse skills t the wrkplace tasks assciated with the unit f cmpetency. The emplyer must ensure that the apprentice r trainee has learnt and practiced the wrkplace tasks assciated with the unit f cmpetency t industry and cmpany standards. A best practice training recrd wuld recrd the relevant infrmatin frm the training package fr the qualificatin such as the units f cmpetency and elements, and als recrd the required wrkplace tasks expected f the apprentice r trainee. A training recrd wuld include signatures and dates fr each unit f cmpetency. Emplyer s signature supprts that the apprentice r trainee is cmpetent in the wrkplace fr the unit f cmpetency t industry and cmpany standards. On the ccasinal instance that a wrkplace cannt ffer the full range f wrk required fr the qualificatin it is pssible fr the emplyer and SRTO t agree that a unit f cmpetency can be undertaken either thrugh a temprary transfer r, prvided the training package permits, in a simulated envirnment that effectively mirrrs the wrkplace requirements. In instances where the unit is simulated, the SRTO wuld sign the training recrd. Apprentice s r trainee s signature supprts that he/she agrees he/she has the ability t cmpetently perfrm the wrkplace tasks fr the unit f cmpetency. SRTO s signature supprts that frmal/ff-the-jb training in the underpinning knwledge and skills has been cmpleted. Once the apprentice r trainee has acquired the underpinning knwledge and skills (i.e. cmpleted the frmal/ff-the-jb cmpnent), and the emplyer is satisfied f the apprentice s r trainee s cmpetence t industry and cmpany standards (i.e. cmpleted the n-the-jb cmpnent/wrkplace tasks), the SRTO is respnsible fr making a judgment n whether cmpetency has been achieved by undertaking an assessment prcess. An SRTO must nt award cmpetence r, fr thse under a pre-qualified supplier agreement, reprt a 20 r 30 AVETMISS Outcme Identifier Cde, until the frmal/ff-the-jb training has been delivered, the n-the-jb cmpnent has been achieved, and assessment has ccurred.
