Attention is paid to the role of managers in setting direction and goals, planning a strategy to accomplish the goals, and implementing the strategy to achieve results. The course uses cases and exercises to sharpen student s analytical skills in facing problems that commonly confront managers. Mgmt 612: Managing Individuals and Organizations. (6 sections). This core MBA course introduces concepts and builds self- awareness and skills to help students manage and lead in groups and organizations. Students learn to analyze the design of organizations and understand them as strategic, political, and cultural systems. Case analysis and discussion, role plays, and structured self- reflection are used to develop students analytical skills, intuition, and judgment about real managerial situations. Mgmt 610: Industrial Ecology. (4 sections). This elective MBA course teaches students core principles and tools of industrial ecology as they apply to business strategy and management. These include a systems perspective on environmental impact that brings attention to the life cycle of products and processes, and the analysis of interactions between firms within a supply chain and/or region. Mgmt 610: Sustainable Business. (1 section). This elective MBA course teaches students essential approaches to understanding sustainability as a business strategy. Topics covered include drivers of sustainable business strategy, and strategic, consumer, and non- market responses. Instruction includes extensive use of cases and contemporary examples. Mgmt 607: Doctoral Seminar in Organizational Change. (2 sections). This doctoral course explores the literature on organizational and institutional change, emphasizing contemporary literature on processes of change as a complement to core seminars in organization theory. BA 740: Capstone Business Project. (Advisor, 2 sections). The business project is a core element of the Executive MBA program. Advisors guide and evaluate students as they individually complete a year- long project of strategic significance to their company, by gathering appropriate data, analyzing that data, recommending alternatives, and creating an implementation plan for the best alternative.
