1 The First International Festival of Contemporary Mosaic RavennaMosaico THIRD EDITION Ravenna, 12 October 23 November 2013 Ravenna, 13 November 2012 Address to AIMC members The Municipality of Ravenna and the International Association of Contemporary Mosaicists organize the third edition of RavennaMosaico, the First International Festival of Contemporary Mosaic. The Festival due on 2013, will opens the 12 th of October, hosting exhibitions, new commissions and acquisitions, an international conference, debates, conferences, presentation of specialist publications, till the 23 th of November. The First International Festival of Contemporary Mosaic will involve the whole city and the cultural institutions in a program devoted to the contemporary of an expressive technique that characterizes the artistic and cultural memory of Ravenna. For this reason, the City of Ravenna and AIMC are pleased to invite the members to propose works to be submitted to a selection for the construction of pathways in the exhibition spaces more suggestive of the city. The exhibition will be divided into a photographic section, dedicated to projects which illustrate the relationship between mosaic and architecture, and a section devoted exclusively to the presentation of contemporary mosaic works. Please fill in the technical annex on the section to which you intend to participate, and return it along with the application form and a brief description of your artistic activity, not later than 26 th April The candidacy is possible for both sections. 2 1 Photographic section mosaic and architecture The aim is to set up a photographic exhibition showing to the public the relationship between contemporary mosaic and architecture, through projects developed in an international context; - will be required up to five photographic reproductions of the project, which represent applications of contemporary mosaic to architecture; will be allowed also contemporary mosaic works created for projects designed by another artists. The image of the mosaic works should be well represent the architectural context in which they appear, and have a specific artistic value; - photographic reproductions of the mosaic work will be selected by a qualified committee; - selected reproductions will be printed on new medium for the purpose of the exhibition; the printing of the selected images will be totally organized and supported by the management of the Festival; - for the selection the candidate must submit a maximum of five images (photographs, color photograph, digital photos). The committee will select the works starting from the pictures, so we invite you to send pictures in very high quality and definition. - for digital images you must send files in jpeg or tiff format, 300 dpi resolution, with the smaller side not less than 10 cm; - the images must be accompanied by appropriate data sheet, filled in every part, and sent along with the application form and a brief description of your artistic activity through or regular mail at the following address, not later than 26 th April, 2013: Associazione Internazionale Via di Roma, Ravenna - selected reproductions will be printed on new material for the purpose of photographic exhibition; - the printing of selected image will be totally organized and supported by the management of festival; - the authors of the projects will be required to sign a release form in order to print images of their property. 4 Date Signature 2 Section of mosaic works Contemporary mosaic The aim is to realize an exhibition of a selection of contemporary mosaics, on two main locations; - One or more images of the work that will be proposed are required (photographs or digital images, in jpeg or tiff format, 300 dpi resolution, with the smaller side not less than 10 cm); - only one work can be submitted; - a committee made up of mosaic experts will select the works to be exhibited; - for exhibition reasons are recommended works not smaller than 30 cm per side; - the management of festival will pay a contribution, further defined, to carry the selected works; - photographs must be accompanied by the relevant data sheet filled in its entirety and submitted along with registration form and a brief description of its artistic activity, by or by regular mail at the following address, not later than 26 th April 2013: Associazione Internazionale Via di Roma, Ravenna - the authors of selected works will be required to sign a release form for the use of works for the purpose of exhibition.
