2 CASH AWARDS Best in Show In each category: First Place Second Place Third Place People s Choice $1,000 and rosette $300 and ribbon $200 and ribbon $100 and ribbon Ribbon and Art Piece JUROR Dianne Mize Dianne Mize received her AA at Young Harris College, her BA in English and Music at Newberry College, BFA in Painting and Drawing at University of Georgia and MFA in Painting at Goddard College. She began her career as a High School Teacher, instructing in both Visual Arts and English, and even designing visual arts programs and curriculum. She was the Department Head and Associate Professor of Art at Piedmont College through 1984 and the co founder of what would become The Art Studio at Sautee Nacoochee Center. Published author, Mize has appeared in several solo and group exhibitions. ELIGIBILITY Open to all women residents of Georgia. All submissions must be original works in concept, composition, and execution by the artist. Classroom/workshop pieces, copies of master works or any other artwork created under the supervision of an instructor are not eligible. Artwork must not be copied, in part or wholly, from any published or copyrighted work. No reproductions or copies will be accepted and works must have been created in the last four (4) years. It is our expectation that artwork presented for the exhibition be identical to work in the image submitted for entry. If there is any apparent difference, the work will be automatically disqualified, entry fees forfeited, and artist will not be permitted to enter the next two Reflections exhibitions CALENDAR 2015 June 1, 2015 July 6, 2015 August August 20 October 10 October Last accepted postmark date for entry form, entry and entry fee. Juror s notification ed. Deadline for hand delivery of art and all shipped works to arrive at QVAC, 9AM 5PM. Awards Reception, 5:30 7:30 P.M. Exhibition closes. Artwork Pick up: 9 AM 5 PM. Return shipping will occur this week. ENTRY CATEGORIES 1. Oil/Acrylic 2. Watercolor 3. Drawing/Pastel/Printmaking 4. Mixed Media 5. Photography 6. 3D LIABILITY Insurance is provided for artwork exhibited at the Quinlan. The Quinlan will assume responsibility for any consigned artwork lost, stolen, or damaged while on the premises only to the extent there is no insurance coverage as provided in this paragraph. Artwork exhibited for sale will be insured for 60% of the retail price. Insurance value is determined by actual sale price of the artwork or by sale price of the artist s comparable work. In the event of loss, the artist must be able to demonstrate the value of the artwork with sales receipts. A security system is in place at the Quinlan. The Quinlan will assume no responsibility for loss or damage incurred during shipping, or if work is judged so fragile that shipment, installation or public display is potentially harmful to the work or the viewer. 3 SIZE LIMITATIONS AND FRAMING Size limitations for all 2 D work should be no larger than 48 x 48 including frame. 3 D work should not exceed 45lbs or 60 in any direction. Three dimensional work over 25lbs must be hand delivered and picked up by the artist. Two dimensional work must be framed, ready for hanging with wire in place. No saw tooth hangers or gallery clips. If mats are used, they must by white or offwhite. A slim colored inner mat is acceptable. Work NOT properly framed will be disqualified. All shipped work MUST use Plexiglas NO glass. The committee reserves the right to reject artwork not deemed suitable for this venue. APPLICATIONS ENTRY FEE: Each applicant may submit 1 3 entries for $30. They may be spread in categories, but no more than 3. A check for the thirty ($30.00) dollar non refundable entry fee made payable to NLAPW/ATL, mail with entry form to Neal Hughs 3209 Dunlap Drive Gainesville, Georgia ENTRY FORM: Mail to Neal Hughs 3209 Dunlap Drive Gainesville, Georgia prior to the deadline listed above. IMAGES: entries to Neal Hughs ndhughs@bellsouth.net Images must be at least 300 dpi, sized 800 dpi on the longest side and saved as JPEG files. Label images as follows: firstname.lastname.title.category.jpg (jane.doe.frostymorn.wc.jpg) In the subject line of , put NLAPW/ATL Reflections In the body of the , list the artist s name, title, category and sale price in the same order as on your entry form. CATALOG AND WEBSITE An exhibition catalog will be produced and will be given to each accepted artist. Additional catalogs will be available for a mailing and handling charge of $3.00 each. Images of award winners will be placed on atlantapenwomen.org and qvac.org. MEDIA RELEASE The exhibition may be photographed or filmed during Quinlan exhibitions and events. The Quinlan reserves the right to photograph artwork for publicity purposes, including but not limited to reproduction in relevant publications, website and Facebook pages. Artist hereby grants permission for resulting promotional photographs and/or video footage of the artist, speaking, demonstrating or creating work, as well as resulting artwork or art on view as part of an exhibition in any location of the building including the gift shop, to be used for promotional purposes on television, newspapers, magazines, press releases, on the arts center website or any other media deemed appropriate by the Board of Trustees of the Quinlan. SALES The Quinlan will not guarantee art sales. A reasonable effort will be made to promote sales. Art work will be sold at the retail value indicated on the Entry Form. It is the artist s responsibility to supply retail prices. Retail prices must include both the artist s share and the Quinlan s share of commission. The artist will receive 55% of the retail, the Quinlan will retain 35% of the retail price and Pen Women Atlanta Chapter will receive 10%. The Quinlan will also collect sales tax. Payment for work sold will be sent within thirty (30) days of date of exhibition closing. SHIPPING If you are shipping your artwork it must be scheduled to arrive between the 10 th and 14 th of August, Shipped artwork should be sent to the exhibition venue, the Quinlan Visual Arts Center, 514 Green Street, N.E. Gainesville, Georgia, Artwork labels should be affixed to the back or bottom of each piece and a return shipping label should be enclosed. The original packaging will be retained for return shipping of the artwork to the artist. ENTRY FORM Return completed application and entry fee. Submission of work to this exhibition constitutes an agreement to the conditions stated in this prospectus and a commitment to show accepted work for the duration of the exhibition. Art work submitted for exhibition may not be removed prior to pick up date; all pieces are expected to remain in the exhibition through the date indicated above with no exceptions. Early removal of art work or any art work substitution is not allowed. All information on the original entry must remain the same on the accepted entry. Art substitutions are not permitted. Works are expected to appear in the show at the listed price on application. Failure to comply will result in the immediate removal of artwork from the exhibition and forfeiture of entry fees.
