AcAdvantage Program Overview As a member of the AAdvantage program, you know that you can earn miles each time you purchase an eligible published-fare ticket and fly on American Airlines, American Eagle, AmericanConnection or any of our over 20 participating air carriers. You can also earn bonus miles* for flying on an eligible purchased Business Class or First Class ticket on American Airlines and all participating airlines, adding to your total mileage: An additional 25% of flight mileage flown in Business Class, or An additional 50% of flight mileage flown in First Class. Because not everyone is a frequent traveler, we also extend mileage-earning opportunities through AAdvantage program participants** such as: Co-branded credit cards in 30 countries worldwide Leading hotel chains Car rental agencies Special services and retail Financial services and investment companies Internet service providers and many more. In order to earn elite-qualifying miles on our codeshare flights, your ticket must either show an American Airlines flight number or a flight number of an AAdvantage elite-qualifying airline. American Airlines has codeshare agreements with the following airlines at time of printing: Aer Lingus, Air Pacific, Alaska Airlines/Horizon Air, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, China Eastern Airlines, Deutsche Bahn German Rail, EVA Air, Finnair, Gulf Air, Hawaiian Airlines, Iberia, Japan Airlines, LAN Airlines, Mexicana, Qantas Airways, SN Brussels Airlines, SNCF French Railways, SWISS, TACA, TAM, Thalys Railways and Turkish Airlines. 6 E L I T E S T A T U S Attaining Elite Member Status As you earn qualifying flight miles, you ll become eligible for membership in the AAdvantage program s AAdvantage Executive Platinum, AAdvantage Platinum, and AAdvantage Gold elite-status levels. Each level offers exclusive services and benefits including: An exclusive, direct hot-line number for reservations, seating requests and meal requests Complimentary upgrades for you and one companion based on qualifying fare purchased* AAdvantage Platinum and AAdvantage Gold members receive four 500-mile electronic upgrades for every 10,000 qualifying base miles earned** AAdvantage Gold members receive a 25% mileage bonus while AAdvantage Platinum and AAdvantage Executive Platinum members earn a 100% mileage bonus on the base or guaranteed minimum miles for eligible flights** Priority boarding Recognition of your elite status by all airlines in the oneworld alliance Discounted Admirals Club memberships As we track your qualifying activity, we ll notify you when you qualify for membership in one of these premium levels. To qualify for AAdvantage Executive Platinum status, you must earn either 100,000 qualifying points or 100,000 qualifying miles during a calendar year. To qualify for AAdvantage Platinum or AAdvantage Gold membership, you must earn the following qualifying miles, points or segments during a calendar year: AAdvantage Platinum 50,000 miles, 50,000 points or 60 qualifying segments AAdvantage Gold 25,000 miles, 25,000 points or 30 qualifying segments *To receive complimentary upgrades, AAdvantage Gold and AAdvantage Platinum members must be traveling to and from qualifying cities on a full-fare Economy Class ticket (fares booked in Y or B, excluding military/government fares), and Executive Platinum members may be traveling on any purchased, published fare. All upgrades are subject to seating limitations and capacity controls. 7 E A R N I N G M I L E S Qualifying miles and segments are the actual miles or segments you earn on eligible purchased tickets* for flights aboard American Airlines, American Eagle, AmericanConnection, Aer Lingus, Alaska Airlines/ Horizon Air, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Finnair, Iberia, LAN Airlines/LAN PERU, Qantas Airways, and/or American Airlines codeshare flights, including applicable minimum mileage guarantees. Qualifying miles do not include class-of-service bonus miles, other participant miles or any other AAdvantage bonus mileage. AAdvantage points will be earned on elite-qualifying flights as follows: Purchased Fares AADVANTAGE POINTS PER ACTUAL MILE EARNED First Class 1.50 Business Class 1.50 Full-Fare Economy Class 1.50 Discount Economy Class 1.00 Deep Discount Economy Class 0.50 When traveling in Economy Class, flights of less than 500 miles on all elite-qualifying carriers receive 500 AAdvantage points regardless of fare type, with the exception of Aer Lingus, Cathay Pacific, and Iberia flights and codeshare travel on Hawaiian Airlines, Deutsche Bahn German Rail and Thalys. For a complete list of eligible fare classes and the equivalent elite points earned on AAdvantage participating airlines, visit * Member must fly at least four segments on American Airlines, American Eagle or AmericanConnection to qualify for AAdvantage Executive Platinum, AAdvantage Platinum or AAdvantage Gold status within the qualifying year. Earning Your Miles Provide your personal AAdvantage number every time you make reservations and travel on American Airlines, American Eagle or AmericanConnection or use our participating companies, and we ll automatically credit your AAdvantage account with the appropriate mileage. To ensure a smooth check-in process and proper mileage credit to your account, be sure your reservation name, AAdvantage account name and credit card name all match your travel document name. You can monitor your account online at Tracking Your Miles We ll automatically keep track of your mileage credit both when you earn it and when you use it. For the most up-to-date AAdvantage information, you ll want to receive your AAdvantage Summary and newsletter via . 5

8 c c c R E D E E M I N G M I L E S To sign up as an AcAdvantage AAdvantage Advantage esummary SM customer, simply go to click GO under Subscriptions, then log in. Select Subscribe beside AAdvantage esummary and click SUBMIT to receive your summary every month. To ensure complete accuracy, please retain any flight documents and original paid invoices (from any other transactions) until the mileage credit appears on your summary. Redeeming Your Miles Ticket Awards Use your miles for travel on American Airlines, American Eagle, AmericanConnection or one of our participating airlines. MileSAcAver MileSAAver Aver sm awards are the best choice when you can plan a trip in advance. They are subject to capacity controls, but can be claimed for fewer miles. AcAnytime AAnytime awards are not subject to capacity controls and may be used for travel on any flight, on any day (provided the flight is not completely sold out). Awards are available on American Airlines. oneworld awards are valid for travel on all eight oneworld airlines, and allow travel to multiple destinations on a single award. The number of miles needed to claim a oneworld award is based on the total mileage of the trip using a combination of at least three oneworld airlines. Upgrade Awards Available on American Airlines, upgrade awards permit you to move up to the next class of service (i.e., from Economy Class to Business Class or from Business Class to First Class) when space permits. AcAdvantage Vacation Awards With over 1,500 properties in 300 worldwide destinations, the AAdvantage Vacation Awards program makes redeeming miles for hotel stays or vacation packages even easier. Admirals Club Memberships Redeem your miles for an annual membership to the Admirals Club for you, or for you and your spouse. As a member, you will enjoy access to Admirals Clubs conveniently located throughout the United States, Canada, Asia, the Caribbean, Europe and Latin America. 9 PURCHASING MILES Purchasing and Transferring Miles You may purchase AAdvantage miles for yourself or as a gift for others through the buya buyaamiles buyac Ac miles and gifta giftaamiles giftac Ac miles programs. Additionally, the sharea shareaamiles shareac Ac miles program allows miles to be transferred to or from your AAdvantage account. Purchasing Upgrades on American Airlines Upgrades from purchased Economy Class to the next class of service* may be purchased and tracked online at or by calling the AAdvantage Dial-In system at in the U.S. Upgrades purchased via AA.com and our AAdvantage Dial-In system are offered at a discount. You can also purchase upgrades through AAdvantage Reservations or by visiting your local American Airlines ticket counter, American Airlines Travel Center or Admirals Club location (for members). Your Upgrade Account will be automatically updated as you purchase, earn, withdraw or exchange miles for upgrades. Upgrade activity will be itemized on your monthly AAdvantage esummary or quarterly AAdvantage Summary (international members only). When you make reservations, you may request an upgrade to the next class of service. See page 30 for a list of applicable destinations. If upgrade seating is available, we will automatically process your request when the appropriate upgrade window opens (100 hours prior to departure for AAdvantage Executive Platinum members, 72 hours for AAdvantage Platinum members, and 24 hours for AAdvantage Gold members and non-elite-status AAdvantage members traveling on a full-fare ticket**). Upon departure, the appropriate number of 500-mile upgrades will be deducted from your Upgrade Account. If you have not received confirmation of your upgrade via , voice message or, in some cases, by alphanumeric pager (through selected service providers only) at least three hours prior to departure, you must check in at the airport and request placement on the upgrade standby list. *You may upgrade from a purchased Economy Class ticket to First or Business Class on flights with two classes of service and to Business Class on flights with three classes of service. ** Fares booked in Y or B (excluding military/government fares). 7

10 oneworld Making World Travel Easier The oneworl d alliance brings together eight of the world s best airlines: American Airlines, Aer Lingus, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Finnair, Iberia, LAN Airlines/LAN PERU and Qantas Airways. This global alliance makes it easier and more rewarding than ever for you to travel beyond the reach of the American Airlines network. Earning AcAdvantage Miles You can earn AAdvantage miles and points on qualifying flights when you travel with any of the eight oneworld airlines.* Just be sure to provide your AAdvantage number whenever you make a reservation to travel on any of the oneworld airlines. Plus, the base miles and points you earn on the oneworld airlines also count toward your qualification or requalification for AAdvantage Executive Platinum, AAdvantage Platinum or AAdvantage Gold membership. oneworld Awards When redeeming your miles for a oneworld award, you can choose from over 570 global destinations in over 135 countries. The oneworld awards give you the flexibility to travel to multiple destinations using a combination of three or more oneworld airlines when the itinerary includes American Airlines, American Eagle or AmericanConnection, or two or more oneworld airlines when not traveling on American Airlines, American Eagle, or AmericanConnection. Claim just one award for travel valid on American Airlines, Aer Lingus, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Finnair, Iberia, LAN Airlines/LAN PERU and Qantas Airways. To determine the award that suits your travel plans, call AAdvantage or American Airlines Reservations with your complete itinerary and they will calculate the miles you are flying and advise you of the correct award to use. All eight oneworld carriers may be used on one award as long as the mileage and 16 segment maximum are not exceeded. Members may stop in each city once. However, you cannot connect in the same city more than twice, you cannot stop over in the city where your travel begins and you cannot connect in the city where travel begins. * Transatlantic flights to/from the U.S. on British Airways are not eligible for mileage redemption. Members must fly at least four qualifying segments per year on American Airlines, American Eagle or AmericanConnection service to retain elite-member status. All oneworld benefits are available only to passengers on scheduled flights that are both operated and marketed by a oneworld member airline. Air Travel Awards Terms And Conditions Restrictions apply to the use of some of these awards. Read all award and claiming information before selecting an award. Awards are valid on flights operated and marketed by American Airlines. MileSAAver awards are subject to special limitations on seating availability. AAnytime awards are not subject to capacity controls. Upgrade awards are valid only on individual publishedfare tickets and are subject to capacity controls. An upgrade from Full Fare Economy is an upgrade to the next class of service on a ticket that is booked in Y or B. An upgrade from Discount Economy or from Business is an upgrade to the next class of service from any eligible purchased ticket. No stopovers are allowed when using a one-way upgrade award. You may, with the addition of a nonrefundable co-payment, claim these awards to our most popular destinations and save up to 60% off the normal MileSAAver Economy Class mileage requirements. You may book your reservations and purchase tickets by contacting your local American Airlines Reservations office or by calling in the United States or Canada. Award travel is valid for one-way or round-trip Economy Class tickets on American Airlines, American Eagle, and AmericanConnection. North American Special Mileage Awards For North American air travel awards, North America is defined as the U.S. (including Hawaii and Alaska), Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, The Bahamas and the Caribbean (unless otherwise indicated).
