1 Health, child & social care Health, child and social care is all about helping people live their lives, whether that s providing treatment for patients, assisting people with daily tasks in their homes, helping offenders rehabilitate or offering lively, nurturing childcare. The work is rewarding and gives you the chance to earn a living while making a difference to other people s lives. Our courses will give you a rich mix of practical skills and knowledge. If you re a caring, respectful individual, you will find a variety of career options available to you. The NHS is the biggest employer in Britain, with more than 300 careers to choose from. Care homes for the elderly and for people with disabilities also employ many local people. FEES The fees listed throughout the individual course booklets indicate the amount you have to pay for the course. Course costs may include registration fees, exam fees, material and uniform costs and visits. Where this is the case, it is usually highlighted in the course description. It is also important to note that eligibility criteria may be subject to change based on government changes. There are three fee bands you will fit into: A, B or C. Please see below to find out which band is relevant to you. It provides a broad understanding of the issues and practice of health and social care. It is suitable for people already in the industry or intending to study at a higher level in the future. In partnership with Health, Safety and Infection Control Code: 14994 Start date: Various Time: Arranged to suit Duration: 1 day Fee: A: 114 B: 114 This one-day course covers roles and responsibilities relating to health and safety. You ll learn how to complete risk assessments, grade risks in moving and assisting individuals, accidents and illnesses, medication and general healthcare. The course also includes hazardous substances, managing stress, fire safety, security at work, food safety, nutrition and hydration, preventing the spread of infection, the correct use of PPE and the appropriate procedures to waste disposal and cleaning methods. Award in the Prevention and Control of Infection Code: 14987 Start date: 22/05/2015 Time: 6-8pm Duration: 6 weeks Fee: A: 180 B: 180 This course has been developed to provide you with an understanding of the causes of infection and how these can be prevented and managed. The course is aimed at those working in the health and social care sector and will familiarise you with the correct use of PPE, cleaning methods and appropriate waste disposal procedure methods. You will be taught the importance of different types of medication and the ways of administrating them, the changes a person may experience after taking medication and the organisation of medicines, including recording, reporting, auditing and storage procedures.
