As South East London s leading College we are delighted you are considering Bromley College for the next important level of your education and training. We will give you so much more than just a qualification and our Bromley Advantage initiative is designed to do just that. At 18 Enrol on a vocational course, start a degree or Apprenticeship - get a promotion or take a professional course. At 16 Enrol on a vocational course, traineeship or an Apprenticeship. At 14 Join us in Year 10 - take your GCSEs alongside a vocational course. No matter what stage you are at in your education and training, there are opportunities for you at Bromley College. 15 QUALIFICATIONS EXPLAINED. Qualifications explained. It s not hard to choose the right course. First of all, choose a subject you enjoy. It s much easier to succeed when you are interested in what you are learning. Secondly, aim for the level that s right for, you based on your qualifications to date or your predicted grades. ENTRY & LEVEL 1 These courses give you a good introduction to education. You can study a vocational subject while improving your English, maths and IT skills. LEVEL 2 Level 2 courses will suit you if you already have GCSEs at grade A*-D, a Level 1 qualification or some relevant work/life experience in the subject of your choice. LEVEL 3 Level 3 courses are equivalent to A Levels. They combine theory and practical skills. You also have the opportunity to acquire valuable UCAS points if you want to progress into higher education here or at university. APPRENTICESHIPS Earn while you learn on an Apprenticeship - offered at Levels 2, 3 and 4 they give you a chance to combine theory with workbased learning. LEVEL 4+ HE This level includes qualifications at Degree, Foundation Degree, Higher National Certificates or Diplomas (HNC/ HND), other professional qualifications and Higher Apprenticeships. / 15

16 HOW TO APPLY. How TO apply. STEP 1: Come along to an Open Event. Explore this guide or visit bromley.ac.uk and find a course that interests you. Click the Apply Now button and complete an application. STEP 3: Keep in touch via , Facebook and Twitter - Come along to a taster session STEP 2: You will be invited to an interview or course experience event. We will discuss your application and, in most cases, make you an offer based on your predicted exam results. STEP 4: After you get your results you will be invited to enrol. Come along and complete the paperwork. Pick up your Student ID. / 16

17 FEES & FINANCE. FEEs & finance. Bromley College will help make it possible for you to study regardless of your financial situation. Don t be put off applying to the College because of money worries. We have a range of financial services to help make it possible for you to study at Bromley College. Below we will explain how fees are applied and how you can meet the cost of studying : Tuition is free on the majority of courses for all UK or EU students who are aged at the start of their course. 19+: If you are aged 19 or over on the starting date of your course you may be eligible for lower fees. That often means that you won t have to pay tuition fees depending on the course you are on and you will be assessed on your individual circumstances. 24+: If you are aged 24 or over and are a UK resident at the start of a Level 3 or 4 course, you may be eligible for a 24+ Advanced Learning Loan to pay some or all of your tuition costs. If the loan is agreed, no payment is required up front and you won t have to make repayments until you are earning 21,000 per year. We will make the job of applying for the loan as easy as possible. Your household income is not taken into account and there is no credit check. Look out for the 24+ Learning icon. International: Tuition fees for non-uk/eu nationals are payable depending on your status in the UK. Our experienced staff will be able to assess your individual case on, or before, you enrol. Fee Assessments: Full documentation confirming your age and circumstances will have to be seen at enrolment in order to determine the correct fee and whether you are eligible for fee remission. Additional Charges: For some of our courses you will be expected to purchase equipment or pay for registration with an awarding body. 20 APPRENTICESHIPS & TRAINEESHIPS. Apprenticeships & TRAINEESHIPS. Begin Your Journey to Work Taking your first steps towards building a successful career can be a very exciting time for you. Bromley College can offer the training you need to get started, as well as equipping you with new skills and work experience to give you the edge in a hugely competitive job market. Whatever your starting point, we can offer you a range of training packages that include the following: In2Work This 6 week introductory course will support you and improve your chances of getting a job or traineeship as well as helping you to build your confidence, prepare an impressive CV and develop useful interview skills. Traineeships If you are focussed exclusively on entering the employment market as early as possible and are aged between 16 and 24, you will qualify for a Traineeship. This is a 12 week, intensive work experience programme in a sector of your choice. Pre-Apprenticeships If you have been offered an Apprenticeship or are in the process of applying for one, a Pre-Apprenticeship will provide you with an ideal preparation prior to beginning. Apprenticeships Apprenticeships are an excellent way to learn on the job, build up knowledge, and most importantly gain a qualification and earn money at the same time. They are open to anyone over 16 who is employed for a minimum of 30 hours a week. / 20

22 BROMLEY TECHNICAL COLLEGE The Bromley Technical Academy offers year olds something completely new and exciting. You can now choose your options and study them full-time with us. You will attend our Bromley Campus which sits in acres of green space and provides you with a safe, modern and inspiring learning environment. You will study up to seven GCSEs and pick one of our Level 2 vocational qualifications. In addition to these, you will study Core Physical Education and Religious, Social and Personal Development (RSPD). Our vocational courses are taught in highly practical situations and allow you to experience a realistic work environment.
