Learning Objectives About the Course This one-day course will provide a topical, clinically based overview of current issues in the multidisciplinary management of lung cancer and mesothelioma patients, with an emphasis on recent advances and possible upcoming changes in standards of care. Medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pulmonologists, thoracic surgeons, internists, and nurses are encouraged to attend. 1. Describe the role of low dose CT scans in screening high-risk individuals for lung cancer. 2. Discuss the options for treatment in patients with medically high risk, early stage nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC). 3. Recognize current recommendations for routine molecular testing of patients with NSCLC, and the use of molecularly targeted therapies for defined subgroups of patients. 4. Define the role of palliative care in the treatment of patients with advanced or metastatic NSCLC. 5. Discuss the role of a multidisciplinary team in the treatment of patients with pleural mesothelioma. Lung Cancer and Pleural Mesothelioma: Cleveland Clinic Multidisciplinary Approaches to Care Accreditation The Cleveland Clinic Foundation Center for Continuing Education is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
