Preprtions Prepre the printer for use y instlling it nd connecting the power cord. Instll the printer. You cn use the following three methods for instlling the printer. Instll without stnd on tle Proceed to step. Instll with the optionl stnd Assemle the stnd nd instll the printer referring to the Printer Stnd Setup Guide included with the stnd. After instlltion, proceed to step. Instll with the spectrophotometer unit The stnd is required if you re using the spectrophotometer unit. Assemle the stnd nd instll the spectrophotometer unit nd printer y referring to the Printer Stnd Setup Guide nd then the "SU- Spectrophotometer Unit Setup Guide". After instlltion, proceed to step. Remove the printer from the ox nd remove the pcking mterils from the top of the printer. The stnd is stndrd ccessory in some loctions. At lest three people re needed to lift the printer y its crrying hndles (), locted under its right nd left ends, nd to plce it on tle or other flt surfce. Remove ll the ornge tpe from the roll feed unit (). Remove the roll holder () from the roll feed unit () nd remove the protective mterils nd ll the ornge tpe on the two holder stoppers (c). Remove the ornge tpe on the top cover () nd the ejection guide () nd ll the pcking mterils. After removing the ornge tpe nd pcking mteril from inside the ejection guide (), rettch it. c If the Spectrophotometer Unit (optionl) is ttched, the Ejection Guide () does not need to e rettched. The printer weighs pproximtely kg nd requires t lest three people to lift it y its crrying hndles () under its right nd left ends. Lift the elt stopper () from the crrige shft () nd pull it towrds you to remove it. Close the top cover. The elt stopper is used when trnsporting the printer. Keep the elt stopper fter removing it, in cse the printer needs to e moved gin. 8 Plug the power cord into the power supply connector on the ck of the printer nd plug the other end into n electric outlet.
Attch the Ink Tnks Instll the 8 ink tnks. Press the Power utton to turn on the printer. When the following screen ppers, use the nd keys to select lnguge nd press OK. your locl time zone nd press OK. Open the Ink Tnk Cover y grsping the hndles ccording to the disply. While pressing the stopper of the ink tnk lock lever inwrds, open the ink tnk lock lever upwrds. Shke ech ink tnk gently to 8 times efore opening its pouch. Filure to shke the ink tnks my result in reduced print qulity ecuse ink ingredients hve settled on the ottom of the tnk. Open the pouch nd remove the ink tnk. 8 Insert the ink tnk into the holder oriented s shown, with the ink holes down. 9 Close the ink tnk lock lever until it clicks into plce. Mke sure the ink lmp lights red. Never touch the ink holes () or metl contcts (). Touching these prts my cuse stins, dmge the ink tnk, nd ffect print qulity. Avoid dropping the ink tnk fter removing it from the pouch. Otherwise, ink my lek nd cuse stins. Do not remove ink tnks to shke them fter they hve een instlled. Doing so my cuse ink to spill. If the ink tnk does not fit in the holder, mke sure the color displyed on the lel ttched to the ink tnk lock lever mtches the color of the ink tnk, nd check the orienttion of the ink tnk. If the ink lmp is not lit, repet steps nd 9. After you hve finished ttching the ink tnks, it my tke up to minutes efore the Ink Lmp lights up. 0 Repet steps to 9 to ttch ech of the Ink Tnks. Close the ink tnk cover.
Instll the Printheds Instll oth printheds. When the disply screen shows Open Upper Cover, open the top cover. Pull the printhed fixer lever forwrd ll the wy to open it completely. Lift the printhed fixer cover to open it fully. Hold the printhed y the grips () s you remove it from the pouch. Remove the ornge protective prt (). To remove the other ornge protective prt (), push the grip (c) s you remove it. c Insert the printhed into the crrige () with the ink holes () up nd fcing the front of the printer s shown in the figure. Crefully push the printhed firmly into the crrige (), ensuring tht the prts tht were covered y the protective prts do not touch the crrige (). Never touch the prts covered y the protective prts. Doing so my dmge the printhed nd ffect printing qulity. The printhed contins ink, so e creful not to spill it once the protective prts re removed. Do not rettch the protective prts fter removing them. Dispose of these mterils ccording to locl regultions.. Pull the printhed fixer cover down towrd the front to lock the printhed in plce. 8 Press the printhed fixer lever inwrds until it clicks into plce. 9 Repet steps to 8 to instll the second printhed set. Close the top cover.
Lod Pper to Adjust the Printheds Lod the included pper nd djust the Printheds. type of pper for printhed dj. Open the Pper Try Cover (), nd then is shown on the disply screen. Check open the Try Extension (). tht Mnul Pper is selected nd press OK. Slide the Width Guide () to lign it with the mrk for the size of pper you will lod. Instructions on loding mnul pper re shown on the disply screen. Prepre one sheet of pper. Refer to the pckging for the pper to check which side is the printle surfce. Lod one sheet, printing-side up, in the Top Pper Feed Slot. Insert the pper in portrit orienttion until it touches the fr end of the try lightly. Move the Width Guide () to mtch the size of pper loded. Set the Width Guide ginst the edge of the pper to prevent the pper from ecoming crooked or wrinkled. Return unused pper to the pouch it cme in, nd store it wy from het, humidity nd direct sunlight. If it is difficult to lod from the front of the printer, lod from the ck of the printer. The screen for selecting the pper type is shown on the disply screen. Press or to select the type of pper loded in the printer. Coted Pper nd press OK. Then from the menu tht ppers, select HW Coted nd press OK. 8 When pper dvnce ends, the system is utomticlly filled with ink for the first time nd Printhed djustment is strted. It tkes totl of out minutes. Mke use of this time y referring to "Instll the Softwre" on pge to instll the softwre on your PC. Chrging the system with ink fills the system from the ink tnks to the printheds. In ddition, clening is performed to keep the printer in optiml condition. This my cuse the remining ink indictor nd mintennce crtridge cpcity indictor to drop some mount. The strter ink tnk is for first-time instlltion. It is recommended tht you purchse replcement ink tnks quickly. 9 When printhed djustment ends, pper is printed with n djustment pttern nd is ejected. For how to lod roll pper, refer to the Bsic Guide, to the User's Guide tht cn e viewed using the procedure "How to Disply the Electronic Mnuls" on pge, or to the instructions displyed y the nvigtion function of the control pnel. Follow the procedure elow to disply the nvigtion on how to lod roll pper.. Press Nvigte.. Use the nd keys to select Lod Roll Pper nd press OK.. Use the nd keys to select View Op. Guide nd press OK. The nvigtion strts. Printer setup is now complete. After you hve finished setting up the printer nd instlling the softwre, we recommend performing color clirtion. Color clirtion compenstes for chnges in color from individul vrition nd ged deteriortion of the printer, ensuring etter color consistency. Perform color clirtion using the included pper, which is comptile with this process. For informtion on other comptile pper, refer to the Pper Reference Guide. During color clirtion, on the control pnel's disply screen, open (settings/dj. t) nd select Adjust Printer - Clirtion - Auto Adjust. The process of color clirtion tkes out 0 minutes. To use the spectrophotometer unit (optionl) to perform color clirtion, refer to the "Color Clirtion Using the Spectrophotometer Unit (option)" in the User's Guide. If you use the color clirtion for color djustment, it is useful to set the function to notify the execution period (Prompt Execution). For detils of the function, refer to "Color Clirtion Using the Printer Sensor" in User's Guide. When the setup is completed, refer to the vrious mnuls to use the printer. Instll the Softwre Windows You cn print from Windows vi USB or TCP/IP (network) connections. The instlltion procedure vries depending on how your printer is connected. Instll the softwre y following instructions elow. If you connect the printer with USB cle, refer to "For USB connections" on pge. If you connect the printer with TCP/IP (network), refer to "For TCP/IP (network) connections" on pge. Instlltion requires dministrtive rights (such s those of Administrtor). Be sure to log on using n ccount with dministrtive rights efore instlltion. The following screen my e displyed during instlltion depending on the security settings of your computer. For USB connections Instll the softwre Use USB cle tht conforms to the Hi-Speed USB specifiction. Connect the USB cle to the printer ccording to the on-screen instructions during instlltion of the printer driver. If you connect the USB cle efore instlling the printer driver, the printer driver my not e instlled correctly. After mking sure the printer is not connected to the computer, turn the computer on. Insert the provided User Softwre CD-ROM for your operting system in the CD-ROM drive. In the Setup Menu window, click Instll Printer Driver. To choose different lnguge, click Lnguge. the softwre to instll in the Instlltion List window, nd then click Next. Point the mouse pointer t softwre nme to disply summry of the softwre. In the Country or Region of Use window, select the country or region of After reding the license greement, click Yes. use nd click Next. If you cn gree Extended Survey Progrm, click Agree. If you cn respond to the questionnire, click Next. 8 Confirm your questionnire responses, nd click Next.
9 In the Printer ion window, select The printer is connected directly to computer nd click Next. 0 In the Printer Instlltion dilog ox, select Instll with USB Connection, nd click Next. When the following dilog ox is displyed, mke sure the printer is on nd use the USB cle to connect the printer to the computer. If wrning messge is displyed, click Retry to try gin. After reviewing the instlltion results in the Complete Instlltion window, click Next. In the Finish window, select Restrt my computer now nd click Restrt. Be creful not to insert the USB cle into the LAN port. When you restrt the computer, the softwre settings re enled. The softwre instlltion is now completed. For TCP/IP (network) connections Instll the softwre If the printer is lredy connected to the network, confirm the IP ddress ssigned to the printer. Ask your network dministrtor for further informtion. Use the LAN cle to connect the LAN port on the ck of the printer to the hu port. If the printer is lredy connected to the network, proceed to step. Mke sure the printer is on. Turn the computer on nd insert the provided User Softwre CD-ROM for your operting system in the CD-ROM drive. If the printer is on, the Link indictor under the LAN port lights. 000Bse-T The top nd ottom LEDs connection light. 00Bse-TX The LED on the ottom connection lights green. 0Bse-T connection The LED on the top lights ornge. Perform procedures of steps -8 on pge. In the Printer ion window, select The printer is connected to computers in network nd click Next. When serching the ville printer on the network After reding the precutions in the Getting Redy window, select Find ville printers in the network nd click Next. Proceed to step. When entering the printer's IP ddress mnully After reding the precutions in the Getting Redy window, select Specify the IP ddress of ville printers in the network nd click Next. Proceed to step 8.
When serching the ville printer on the network Aville printers re listed in the Serch Results window. printer from the list on either their IPv Devices or IPv Devices ts nd click Next. The IPv Devices t is displyed in Windows 8, Windows, Windows Vist, Windows Server 0, Windows Server 008 R, nd Windows Server 008. If the printer you wnt to use is not displyed in the list on the IPv Devices t, connect vi IPv insted. If the printer you wnt to use is not displyed in the list of printers on the IPv Devices t, refer to "When the printer cnnot e found on the network" on pge 9 to setup nd configure n IP ddress for the printer. the printer with the IP Address Sttus is Aville, nd then click Next to strt instlltion. Proceed to step 9 in this cse. When serching the ville printer on the network In the Method of Configuring IP Addresses window, select the method of configuring the IP ddress s suitle for your system. To configure y directly entering the IP ddress Configure mnully in Method of Configuring IP Addresses nd enter the IP ddress. To hve the IP ddresses llocted utomticlly using the DHCP server function Configure utomticlly. Note tht other settings outside of the procedure re lso required. ("Using DHCP", P.9) Once you hve selected the method for configuring IP ddresses, enter your preferred nme for the printer in Device Nme nd the instlltion loction in Printer Loction under Informtion Aout Printer to Configure, nd click Instll to egin the instlltion. Proceed to step 9. 8 When entering the printer's IP ddress mnully In the IP Address Specifiction window, select either IPv Address or IPv Address to enter the printer's IP ddress nd click Instll. The instlltion process egins. Ask your network dministrtor for the IP ddress, s needed. The IPv Devices t is displyed in Windows 8, Windows, Windows Vist, Windows Server 0, Windows Server 008 R, nd Windows Server 008. 9 After reviewing the instlltion results in the Complete Instlltion window, click Next. 0 In the Finish window, select Restrt my computer now nd click Restrt. When you restrt the computer, the softwre settings re enled. The softwre instlltion is now completed. 8
When the printer cnnot e found on the network If your printer cnnot e found when connecting to the network for the first time, setup n IP ddress for the printer nd then configure it on the printer. On the t selection screen of the control pnel, press the nd keys to select (settings/dj. t) nd press OK. Use the nd keys to select Interfce Setup nd press OK. When ink fills the system for the first time, fter printhed djustment is finished, specify the IP ddress on the printer's control pnel. When ink fills the system for the first time, do not operte the printer until printhed djustment is finished. No Pper Loded OK:Setting/Adj. Menu Mint.C Remin.: 80% Tot.Print Are(m): 8 Use the nd keys to select TCP/IP nd press OK. Enter the IP ddress. Nvigte through the following menus using the nd keys on the control pnel.. IPv nd press OK.. IPv Settings nd press OK.. IP Address nd press OK.. Enter the IP ddress. How to enter IP ddresses. Press the nd keys to select field for inputting vlues.. Use the nd keys to input vlues. Pressing increses the vlue y one. Pressing decreses the vlue y one. Holding down either the or keys continully increses or decreses the vlue.. Press OK once you hve finished. Press Press Menu. OK on the registrtion confirmtion messge tht ppers. The IP ddress is set on the printer. Next, restrt instlltion of the printer driver. In the Serch Results window, select Specify the IP ddress of ville printers in the network nd click Next. When the IP Address Specifictions window ppers, follow the instructions of "When entering the printer's IP ddress mnully" in step 8 to on pge 8 to complete the instlltion of the softwre. If the following screen ppers, click Retry nd select Specify the IP ddress of ville printers in the network on the next screen tht ppers. Using DHCP To use the DHCP server function to utomticlly llocte n IP ddress to the printer, one of the following settings needs to e configured. Check with your network dministrtor for the settings tht mtch your system. Configure the DNS dynmic updte function Configure the DHCP server to lwys llocted the sme IP ddress when the printer strts This section descries how to turn on DNS dynmic updte from the control pnel of the printer. The DNS dynmic updte function cn lso e configured using Remote UI. Refer to "Configuring the Printer's TCP/ IP Network Settings With RemoteUI" in the user guide for detils. Perform steps to of the procedure in "When the printer cnnot e found on the network" on pge 9. IPv or IPv using the nd keys nd then press OK. DNS Settings using the nd keys nd then press OK. DNS Dync updte using the nd keys nd then press OK. For IPv On using the nd keys nd then press OK. For IPv. After mking sure the printer is not connected to the computer, turn the computer on. Insert the provided User Softwre CD-ROM for your operting system in the CD-ROM drive. On the desktop, doule-click the CD-ROM icon nd then the ipf Printer Setup icon. Click Next. If screen requesting the nme nd pssword is displyed, enter the user nme nd pssword of user with dministrtive rights nd click OK (or Instll Helper on OS X v0. or lter). the country or region where you re using the printer, nd click Next. the softwre to instll nd click Next. Move the mouse pointer ner the nme of the softwre to disply n overview of the softwre. Connect the printer to computer When the following screen is displyed, mke sure tht the printer is on, nd then connect the printer to the computer or the network with cle. For USB connections For network connections Be creful not to insert the USB cle into the LAN port. 0

On Windows How to Disply the Electronic Mnuls The User's Guide nd Pper Reference Guide re not included. Ech of the mnuls cn e viewed on the we site from the links in the instlled softwre. An Internet connection is required to disply the mnuls. This section descries how to disply the electronic mnuls from the printer driver. From the Strt menu, open Printers nd Fxes (or Printers or Devices nd Printers). Right-click the printer nd then click Properties (or Printer Properties). Messge Cuse Corrective Action There is no ink tnk of the indicted color in the printer. Lod or relod the ink tnk. (see steps -0 on pge ) Cnnot recognize printhed x. The printhed is not instlled. Instll the printhed. (see steps -9 on pge ) Pper loded crooked. The loded pper is crooked. Adjust the pper. (see steps - on pge ) No mintennce crtridge instlled. The mintennce crtridge is not connected. Instll the mintennce crtridge correctly. If the messge ppers gin, write down the error code nd messge, turn off the printer, nd contct your Cnon deler for ssistnce.
