Hoors Program Awards Each year, Lasig Commuity College offers up to 36 Hoors Program Awards to NEW studets who have demostrated outstadig academic achievemet ad pla to complete a two-year trasfer curriculum at LCC ad the trasfer to a four-year istitutio to pursue a bachelor s degree. Although studets followig a trasfer program may pla to ear a geeral associate, associate i arts, or associate i sciece degree, their primary objective i attedig LCC is to complete geeral educatio, required, ad recommeded courses i preparatio for trasfer to a fouryear college or uiversity. Lists of commo trasfer majors may be foud at www.lcc.edu/catalog/degree_certificateprograms/curret/aaas. The awards are offered for a maximum of five semesters over a period of two cosecutive years. Reewal each semester is cotiget upo the recipiet meetig all award requiremets. The Awards will cover up to $1275 i tuitio ad fees each fall ad sprig semester ad up to $340 for a optioal summer semester. These amouts will cover approximately 16 billig hours plus partial fees i Fall ad Sprig Semesters ad 4 billig hours plus partial fees i Summer Semester. A award recipiet must: Be a citize or permaet residet of the U.S. Reside i the LCC district. Be a high school graduate. Have a cumulative high school grade poit average of at least 3.2. Have a composite ACT score of at least 20 OR collegelevel readig, writig, ad mathematics skills as determied by LCC basic skills tests. Hoors Program Requiremets I order to maitai their membership i the Hoors Program ad retai their Hoors Program Award, studets must: Follow a approved LCC trasfer curriculum. Maitai a cumulative grade poit average of 3.2 or higher. Successfully complete at least twelve approved credits Fall ad Sprig Semesters. Summer Sessio erollmet is optioal. Summer Sessio erollmet requires at least three approved credits. Successfully complete at least three Hoors courses each academic year. Submit their proposed class schedules for approval before registerig each semester. Award Selectio Criteria Selectio is based o grade poit average, ACT scores, ability i the selected area of study, letters of referece ad a writte persoal statemet. Foudatio Scholarships for 2011-2012 The Lasig Commuity College Foudatio offers umerous scholarships, fuded by the cotributios of busiesses, oprofit etities, ad idividuals, to studets who meet the criteria established by the scholarship doors. Studet Leadership Academy Service Scholarships Each year, Lasig Commuity College offers up to 23 Studet Leadership Academy Service Scholarship Awards to NEW studets who are iterested i developig leadership skills ad gaiig additioal commuity service experieces through a two-year leadership curriculum while cocurretly followig a primary college program of study. The Service Scholarship will be a dollar amout of $975.00 for each fall ad sprig semester the studet is i the program with oe optioal summer semester i the amout of $340.00. Studets must take a miimum of six credits each fall ad sprig semester ad a miimum of 3 credits durig the summer that they receive the award. This award is a two-year educatioal award Trasferrig studets must have a miimum cumulative grade poit average of 2.5 or higher ad must be i good stadig (i.e. ot o academic or social probatio) High School Seiors must have a miimum cumulative grade poit average of 2.5 or higher Studet Leadership Academy Selectio Criteria Selectio is based o grade poit average, writte persoal statemets, letters of referece, service history, ad iterview. The Studet Leadership Academy The Lasig Commuity College Studet Leadership Academy is a uique itroductory leadership developmet experiece. The program combies leadership theory with practice o campus ad i commuity service settigs. Members are exposed to a wide array of leadership ad service opportuities to develop a positive sese of leadership ad service. The Academy uses Phi Theta Kappa Iteratioal Hoor Society s Leadership Developmet Program cocepts to produce highly skilled ad experieced graduates i the areas of leadership ad service. Theory Requiremets iclude: A two credit leadership developmet course (LEAD 110) durig the first semester. (2 hours per week) Course topics: Resposibilities of Leadership, Articulatig a Visio, Leadig with Goals, Creative Problem Solvig/Decisio Makig, Maagig Time, Team Buildig, Empowerig ad Delegatig, Maagig Coflict, Iitiatig Chage, Ethics, Servat Leadership. A two credit leadership developmet course (LEAD 111) durig the secod semester. (2 hours per week) This course is a cotiuatio of the topics ad skills itroduced i the first course.
