2 I t r o d u c t i o Diabetic Associatio Of Bagladesh (BADAS) has gaied iteratioal reputatio for its diabetes health care model termed as Ibrahim Model. It has also emerged as a major geeral health care provider all over Bagladesh. BADAS is cotributig, to a large extet, i both udergraduate ad postgraduate mapower developmet i Bagladesh through formal ad iformal educatioal ad traiig programs. Its widely kow istitute BIRDEM is ow offerig 15 Postgraduate Courses/Diplomas i basic to cliical disciplies ad it has also become a leadig research istitute i biomedical scieces with recogitio by WHO as the Regioal Collaboratig Cetre o Research i the Prevetio ad Cotrol of Diabetes. Ibrahim Medical College (IMC), attached to BIRDEM Hospital, has already emerged as a leadig college i the coutry for providig graduate medical educatio. The efforts of BADAS have recetly made a quatum jump through the iitiatio of a large scale project for geeral health care delivery (the Health Care Developmet Project, HCDP) supported by the Govt of Bagladesh, Dutch Govt ad a Cosortium of local Baks. Through this project a etwork of 20 hospitals ad health ceters is uder the process of implemetatio i ad aroud Dhaka as well as i orther parts of Bagladesh upto the Upazilla level. Bagladesh Istitute of Health Scieces (BIHS) is the Apex Istitute of HCDP which has its associated hospital amed as BIHS Hospital. The objective of BIHS is to create a Model Educatioal Istitute ecompassig all disciplies of biomedical ad health scieces. Presetly 5 major Divisios have bee plaed amely a) Divisio of Basic Scieces, b) Divisio of Cliical Scieces, c) Divisio of Public Health, d) Divisio of Allied Health Scieces, ad e) Divisio of Nursig. BIHS is ru by a Goverig Body formed uder the rules ad regulatios of the Uiversity of Dhaka.

5 C O U R S E Course Structure MPhil All MPhil courses exteds for 2 academic years: Part-I from 0-6 moths: This part serves to provide a foudatio to all studets irrespective of the area of specializatio chose by them. Part-II from 7-12 moths: This part is desiged for specialized traiig i respective fields of public health chose by the studets. Part-III from moths: I the third (Fial) part, the studet shall udertake a research work i a area of public health iterest uder the guidace of a supervisor. MPH All MPH courses are divided ito two parts : Part-I from 0-6 moths: This part serves to provide a foudatio to all studets irrespective of the area of specializatio chose by them. Part-II from 7-12 moths: This part is desiged for specialized traiig i respective fields of public health chose by the studets. Durig The last te weeks of the course i.e. middle of part II the studets are required to work for their dissertatios. At the ed of each part, examiatio uder Uiversity of Dhaka will be held. I additio, omedical professioals with Master or equivalet degree with 2d class (or equivalet GPA Grade) from a recogized Uiversity or BDS or its equivalet recogized by BMDC are eligible for certai courses as follows: i. MPhil & MPH i Epi: From 'Statistics' backgroud ii. MPH i CN: From Nutritio/Home Ecoomics (Nutritio Group)/Biochemistry backgroud iii. MPhil i HE & HP: From ay academic backgroud Service Experiece: Oe yr service experiece for medical graduates ad 3 yrs service experiece for omedical cadidates i govermet or ogovermet health facilities. Age limit o the last date of Applicatio is 45 years. REQUIREMENTS Fe e s uitio fees for all MPhil courses will be Tk.2,65,000/- (Two Lac Sixty five Thousad) ad for the all MPH courses will be Tk.1,95,000/- (Oe Lac Niety five Thousad) oly for Bagladeshi cadidates. The Tuitio Fees may be paid i istallmets. Studets from coutries other tha Bagladesh will pay tuitio fees i foreig exchage equivalet to US$ 5400/ (for MPhil) ad US$ 4500/ (for MPH) oly.
