EASURING RELATIVE HUMIDITY IN CONCRETE FLOOR SLABS IN ACCORDANCE WITH ASTM STANDARD F2170 USE SENSOR RH/T-S3 Select test lcatins t prvide infrmatin abut misture distributin acrss the entire cncrete slab, especially areas f ptentially high misture, r if the slab is thick (>4 in.) and air circulatin is pr. Fr slabs n-grade and belw-grade, include a test lcatin within 3ft f each exterir wall. Perfrm minimum three tests fr the first 1000 ft sq and at least ne additinal test fr each additinal 1000 ft sq. 1. Drill a 5/8 hle t a depth f 40% f the slab thickness using a rtary hammer drill. Use a drill bit specially designed fr rtary drills and with 3 r 4 cutting edges t insure a smth, rund hle. Surface preparatin is nt required. 2. Vacuum the hle thrughly, then use a wire brush t clean and lsen any cncrete remaining in the hle. Vacuum again and repeat the prcess a secnd time. 3. Insert the yellw sleeve int the hle. Use silicne (r ther water-resistant sealant) t seal the interface between the cllar f the sleeve and the cncrete surface. Use a hammer t insure the sleeve is fully inserted int the hle and sealed t the cncrete. 4. Insert the prtective yellw cap int the sleeve and let the hle acclimate fr 72 hurs. 5. Remve the cap and immediately insert the sensr t full hle depth. Wait minimum 1h and then take RH readings by cnnecting ne end f the RH/T-C1 cable t the tp f the meter and the ther end t the expsed cnnectr n the sensr husing. Check fr drift. The meter reading must nt drift mre than 1% RH ver 1 hur. 6. Alternately, insert the RH sensr int the sleeve immediately after setting the sleeve. Readings can then be taken as sn as the hle has acclimated. 5
